Obligatory O.C posting

Rufus. Doves ([livejournal.com profile] kattiya I immediately thought of you). JEFF.

All right, I confess, my new job is as the Music Coordinator for the OC.

Okay, before we go much further I would just like to say that this show? Really fucking gay, people. The opening scene in the pool immediately made me think of [livejournal.com profile] ingrid_m’s story, and I was all, dude, they work fast around these parts. Of course, you know, the “upper middle class” have it like that. Dude, upper MIDDLE?

I guess several million dollars just doesn’t stretch the way it used it, but can I get somebody to give me $100K?

Huh. I ignored that though, because I caught E!News randomly and they had an interview with the cast, and that brainless twit called Seth Adrian Brody. Okay, now I know I’m new to this game, but I know what Adrian Brody looks like and that ain’t Seth. Whatever.

I adore Seth in his stealth turtleneck in like 70 degree heat. He is the woobiest woobie that ever did woobie. The entire part where he was skating back and forth while Ryan and Marissa (?) were eating fries? In-and-Out Shoutout. Okay, that was the biggest “LOOK AT ME!” advertisement ever. No wonder he got snarky when Ryan wouldn’t pay attention. Also, the WB need to pay attention because this is what a proper love triangle looks like. I don’t even like Marissa, but I can respect the chick because she makes this triangle work. More power, girlfriend. I’d be trying to get in there too, if Ryan didn’t remind me of Russell Crowe every two seconds.

As for Luke. Words cannot possibly begin to convey how gay and repressed that boy is. No man that high maintenance is doing it for a girl. We’ll just ignore the complete butchering of all forms of slang by him and his ‘boyz’ at that party. Yikes.

And yes, they played Jeff, but that did not endear me to the show. NOBODY gets to play with Jeff. Nobody is worthy, dammit. *sulks*

Otherwise, um, yeah, wow. Gayer than Gay Gayerson on a Dreamworks-sponsored float at the Pride parade.

NB: This is not the drabble you are looking for. But if it was, it would be dedicated to [livejournal.com profile] andariell and [livejournal.com profile] kormanfan (and [livejournal.com profile] kattiya and [livejournal.com profile] ingrid_m and [livejournal.com profile] mozzystarz, and uh, [livejournal.com profile] happyminion. Did I forget anybody? Ah, and [livejournal.com profile] slodwick. Anybody else, want to buy my thanks with some icons?)

Gamers, Skaters and Boys who Ride BMX Bikes

Seth is never going to be a jock. He does not consider this a tragic miscarriage of justice or anything.

He’s not into organized sports, or any sport where people can publicly chose him last or have an opportunity to throw balls at his head and other body parts. He likes his body parts just as they are, if it’s all same to the guys on Nip/Tuck. He just doesn’t like organized sports. Hell, he used to have panic attacks just changing in the same locker room as the jocks. All those wedgies obviously wound him up too much, and once an outsider always uncool.

So, no, Seth doesn’t like football and basketball, but he’s very good at things that only take one person. Sailing his catamaran, video games, masturbating, skateboarding, lusting after the boy from the wrong side of the tracks, Seth excels tremendously at all of these things.

He plays a mean game of Grand Theft Auto, even though he hasn’t quite convinced Ryan to play with him yet. He’s certainly working on it, just like he’s working on Ryan.

Seth’s gotten really good at shooting pretty much everyone on screen, bad guys and hookers, alike. He’s found that seems to be the only way to master the video game, some trick, but it’s kinda cool and very mindless. Seth likes things that occupy his hands while he thinks about other things, like Ryan. Seth has done a lot of thinking about Ryan over the last three days, even if he hasn’t been playing a lot of video games, because he’s been playing with Ryan. Just not like that.

It makes sense, sort of. Seth would definitely rather play with Ryan than his Playstation, even though he really likes his Playstation.

Seth used to play D & D, but he got a little too involved, so his dad took away the game and bought him a bike instead. Seth never really got into the bike though. He never had anyone to ride with who would stand on the back of his bike and laugh in his ear. There was no one around to watch him mess up his tricks, and when he went down to the boardwalk, the bikers all hung out together, staring at the rich boy strangely.

Seth got stared at enough at school, and he didn’t really need that when he rode his bike as well. So the bike was relegated to the garage, and Seth discovered Zelda.

When his dad took Zelda away, he gave Seth a skateboard instead, and even Seth was surprised when he took more than a passing interest in a creaking wood board with wheels. He fell off more than he stayed on for ages, and his mom used to drive him insane worrying about the bruises and scrapes he was so proud of.

Truthfully, Seth has no idea what it is about skating that he likes so much. It’s certainly independent enough, you never see two guys riding a board at the same time. And yet… And yet, when he and Ryan are on the pier, racing side by side, Seth wonders if Ryan ever considered riding a skateboard, or if he would ever let Seth ride on the back of his bike the way Marissa is.

And then later on, when they’re running away from Luke and his pack of Neanderthals, and Seth gets his chance to ride on the back of Ryan’s bike, he wonders if Ryan minds Seth panting in his ear and holding on so tightly to his shoulders. If Ryan doesn’t mind, Seth wonders if Ryan would mind if he did the same thing under less ‘fleeing the scene of the crime’ circumstances.

When they finally brake to a halt, far far away from the Neanderthals and Marissa-Come-Lately, Seth reluctantly climbs off the back of the bike, and drops his skateboard on the ground. Ryan rests his arms across the handlebars, and his 8 Mile look really doesn’t remind Seth of Eminem at all.

“Thanks for that.” Seth gestures randomly, before popping up his skateboard into his hand.

“Don’t worry about it,” Ryan says, rolling back and forth astride the bike. “That was fun.”

Seth laughs. “That was fun? I think we need to correct your definition of entertainment sometime.”

Ryan laughs as well, but he takes Seth off guard when he reaches out and snags the hem of Seth’s striped shirt in his hand. Seth winds up dropping his skateboard, and it makes a strange noise, not unlike a special effect in a video game.

“I think entertainment is something completely different,” Ryan says.

“Huh.” Seth stares for several seconds, his eyes darting between his shirt and Ryan’s mouth. “We should probably get you back to the house, you know, before someone sees --”

Sees Ryan kissing Seth apparently, because one minute Seth is yammering on, and the next Ryan’s yanking him down to mouth level and kissing him firmly. Very firmly. Lots of lip, lots of tongue. Certainly a T for teen audiences.

Seth keeps his eyes closed for several seconds after Ryan stops kissing him. Eventually he opens his eyes again, and sees Ryan watching him carefully.

“Have you ever thought about skateboarding?” Seth says finally, grabbing his board, and climbing back up on the bike. “Because this really isn’t the best way to take someone on a date.”

“Who said anything about needing a date?” Ryan shoots back as he begins pedaling them towards the model home. “We’ve already lived together, slept together, and done the house thing. The only thing we’re missing is a dog.”

Aw. So cute. At the risk of using a cheesy simile, the rhythm of this is like the pier boards under skateboard wheels. Just a little uneven, and therefore keeping you on your toes, but comforting all the same.
