I love this. I love precipices in general. The rich, dense, confusion of the moment *before* everything happens. I love how you've shown the journey it takes Dom to get to that moment.
Every time Dom confesses how long he’s been waiting, how keen he is, how much he’s put himself through whilst waiting for Billy, Billy just smiles.

I think this is a brilliant bit - a brilliant encapsulation of the limitations of Dom's imaginings. He has to make that trip, finally, to get a real reaction. He can't conjure one up.
