It’s ass to the wall day, people.

1) The O.C. is a Jewish show, did you know this? ;) I love the celebration of all the Jewish holidays I have to say; it’s a refreshing change on television. Also, I like the potential pairing of Jimmy and Hailey and admit I grinned at everybody around the table with their yarmulkes, but I need to just stab Marissa and be done with it. There is no way she was wearing Teresa's dress! Teresa has a chest! *has brain haemorrage* I heart Teresa and Eddie. Ryan and Marissa need to go. [livejournal.com profile] serialkarma pointed out that neither Julie or Marissa should ever ever wear orange again. Also, um, we all know what’s going to happen in a few weeks. Let’s not fake. Luke, sweetie, no woman is worth getting in a car wreck over. Really. Sigh.

2) I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Aqualung’s ‘Brighter than Sunshine’ is a fucking gorgeous song. Get your hands on this song, now.

3) [livejournal.com profile] plum_evil is trying to imply that Sark is not a quality boyfriend. I whole-heartedly disagree. What’s a relationship without a little fear of being wacked in your sleep? Just kidding

4) Subsequent to the unveiling of these photographs [livejournal.com profile] circe_tigana and I began discussing trains, stations and wooly hats in generally. Naturally, this spawned fic and Circe’s story is a gorgeous and angst-filled train ride (just the way I like’em) that you’ll have to read twice for the full impact.

5) No story from me today. See yesterday’s crack!fic if this stresses you.

Oh, dude *both* Ryan and Marissa worked my nerves something *fierce* last night. I hated the way Ryan kept acting like he had some authority to keep telling the other characters what to do; it thrilled me to pieces when both Julie *and* Teresa put him in his place (*especially* Julie when Ryan pulled a Will Turner on her; yeah, right, Ryan, I'm so sure you're more concerned THAN MARISSA'S PARENT about her whereabouts and well-being). And Marissa's drama queen antics are completely OTT even by 17-year-old girl standards, particularly the part where she runs away to indefinitely pester SOMEONE SHE'S NOT EVEN FRIENDS WITH.

Also? While I totally concede that Julie showed an *extreme* lack of good judgment in getting involved with Luke, I don't care for the way the show seems to want to suggest that she's evil or bad for thinking that maybe Marissa needs a more structured therapeutic environment than the one she's currently in. Marissa *isn't* stable; neither Julie nor Jimmy seems particularly able to reach her and the slightest provocation sends her off on these potentially very self-destructive tangents (I mean, what if she *hadn't* had Teresa to run to, you know? She didn't seem interested in turning to her *actual* best friend - Summer - so, like, where would she have gone when she took off like that if some small voice inside hadn't been able to say, "Maybe Teresa will put up with your dumbass for a bit"?). Institutionalization might be taking it *too* far, but it's not completely unreasonable for Julie to broach it as a possible alternative if Marissa doesn't stop *doing crazy shit* every time she gets the slightest bit upset about something.

*waves hands* I just wanted to pop both of them last night. I get it that Ryan's got a 'fixer' type personality, but he's not Marissa's parent or guardian and while I would have totally expected her to get her ass in the car had *Jimmy* showed up to get her, I couldn't understand when or where Ryan got the idea that he was the boss of her (*especially* since Marissa *did* try to call to tell him she was okay, even if not to tell him where she was; it's not her fault Seth was asleep when she did). Marissa going off half-cocked like the Wronged Wife didn't endear her to me either. Yeah, what Julie did was totally skeevy and I can totally sympathize with Marissa feeling like her brain needs bleaching, but last time I checked, Luke and Marissa hadn't been dating *in months* and if I'm being totally, brutally honest? Marissa no longer has *any say* in who Luke is or isn't doing.

*oggles* Yes! That is exactly what I was thinking, only I wasn't able to say it. Thank you!

*dies*

Did they upset you, sweetie? I'm thinking the answer is 'yes'. Not that I'm not right there with you, because I totally am. At Marissa's age I completely understand the need to overdramatize everything and think the world is against you, but there's melodrama and then there's just impossibly over the top, even for someone that age. Josh needs to reign her in. As for Ryan playing Mr Fix-it, that's clearly some leftover issues from his mother and life in Chino, but considering how self-sufficent Teresa is (if you exclude the whole running off to Newport thing anyway), I'm surprised she didn't knock some sense into him at some point.
