Things of Importance to Me

a) Why didn't anyone tell me about MI-5/Spooks? Holy fuck, you're all fired! I watched the entire first season in a *day* because I was a bit poorly (understatement), and I was so enthralled, I thought it was the drugs. I reckoned nothing could be as good as I thought this series was. So I tried to forget it -- but I couldn't because it was smart and witty and intelligent and political -- and uh, TOM. Yeh, can I please have a piece of that? Anyroad, I couldn't stop thinking about it, so I broke down and bought the second series, and I'm approximately two disks in, but had to stop because episode four gave me geniune chest pains. There are no words for how much I love this show. I don't even want to write fiction for it, because not only does it not need it or warrant it, but because it's complete on its own. This is so the best show you're not watching. I heart the BBC.

b) Speaking of the BBC -- Manchild? Best the comedy I perhaps have ever seen in my life. It's irreverent and so un p.c. and so damn English I almost wept for the humour. I'd been told to see it when it first came out in 2002, but I didn't and I feel bad, because good lord. This is the show for anyone who's ever been divorced, lived through one (wife/children), or just thought 'what the fuck is that old geezer doing with that twentysomething?'

c) While I have some attention, I need help:

1c) I need someone who knows a lot about Inland Revenue (UK only -- not the US IRS) and private accountants -- small businesses, loopholes, CPAs (?). If you don't know what Inland Revenue is, obviously this is not addressed towards you.

2c) How do you put footnotes in an LJ post?

d) I must apologise to [livejournal.com profile] ethrosdemon for throwing a massive wobbler last night, because it was uncalled for when she was just being honest.

I'm sorry!!

Look familiar? LOL, yeah, I love the series too, though I misplaced my discs and haven't seen the end of S1 or beginning of S2

The frier scene is what sold it to me. That and my woobie of the year, Tom.

I am not an accountant nor do I play one on tv, but I have a good, trusted friend who is a CPA and an expert on small businesses and I would be happy to send questions along or give you her e-mail address.

While I respect the public humiliation on my behalf, there is no need, darling.

Your flogging for an accountant? *is vastly, smugly amused*

And just you wait until you see Season 2 of Spooks!

Hey, I remember you commenting on the hottie in my icon once! Oh, Danny! Though I do love Tom as well.

Series 3, when that comes out on DVD lives up to s2 and s1 beautifully.

Spooks: Even after Matthew McFadyen hottness, the thing that still sticks with me is the chip fryer.

*shudder*

The only problem with the show is that if you watch it on A&E (which I do) you don't get the whole show. And while it's good and I can't tell that I'm missing stuff, I know I am.

I am just happy that A&E shows it, regardless of the name change.

Dude, I told you about Spooks *ages* ago. Pfft. But I'm glad you caught the wave!

You lucky thing - you were able to watch S2 almost immediately after S1. We in Blighty had to wait *months* before we found out if Tom managed to get her out of the house.

Beware the chocolate-covered Swipe Card Of Plot Contrivance!

Hey! I mentioned Spooks ages ago, only there was this dead silence on LJ in response. :P

I DL'd the third season and plan to watch it with my friend as soon as she finishes series 2.

I share your Manchild love. The second season is even better than the first. Unfortunately that is all we got.

How could you NOT know about MI-5/S?

2c) you need very small shoehorns and a lot of glue

Pfft. I'm sure I haven't seen any Danny/Tom.

The programme is one of the best the BBC have brought out for a long while, shame there are only 7? 8? episodes a year.

Oh, Spooks breaks my damn heart. That show is incredible. I have only found one fansite for it(The Grid (http://www.the-grid.tv/main.asp)). Just wait until the end of S2. It really will take your breath away if you love Tom.
