Ah, well, saw that one coming.

For those of you who have been around a while, you know that when the last Coldplay LP dropped (August '02), I was championing it before it even hit shelves. Like the ODB once said '[we] go back like babies and pacifiers' -- and so it was with a lot of excitement that I looked forward to hearing X & Y....

And then I heard it.

And I'm saying it now, publicly, I think it's shit.

The five stars that Blender gave it and the brown-nosing that EW did? Bullshit. I'm talking about arse to the wall, and stains everywhere like Miguel Alvarez in Oz shit. Some albums are fifty-fifty, you love and you hate, some you love most and hate some -- this is just crap.

I feel like I should be disappointed, but I'm not surprised.

In better news: OMG I SO LESS THAN THREE HURLEY!!!!!

Haha oh dear, is it really that awful? I want to hear it before I form an opinion but I've a feeling it's going to be a little negatory. Hook a girl up if you have the ways and means, you know my email. It makes me all nostalgic for how !!!!! we were about AROBTTH. See, then I was willing to travel to go to their little club shows, now I'm like eh, playing another stadium, well I don't think I can stomach seeing you with 50,000 other people. Fuck you X, and your little Guye too!

"Speed of Sound" did not impress me, nor did "Talk."

I think X&Y will have to sit on the shelves for a while. No rushing to get this one.

I refuse to believe anyone married to Gwyneth Paltrow is humble. Her ego must have rubbed off on him somehow.

He pretends he's modest and self-deprecating, but he's NOT.

I think in the beginning, when he was saying how great they were, we found it endearing. Why? Because nobody knew who the fuck he, or we, were talking about. And it was okay, because it was tempered with his insecurities about them actually not being that fucking, good, which the boys sans Chris still admit. But then the fame hit and suddenly Chris thought he was fucking Noel and Liam, and in true Oasis fashion, the press got bigger than the music. I so agree that Standing on the Shoulders of Giants (?) is proof of this.*

It's a shame he's grown into this obnoxious wanker, but I suppose it was always a possbility, we just hoped otherwise.

*I have no idea how many albums Oasis have released to date now. I have the first three, past that I lost interest. Sometimes I listen to Be Here Now, and get nostalgic for that period of time in my life, but the album? Meh.

O_O

*wipes this post from memory*

I haven't heard it yet, but are you sure it doesn't take a few listens?

He's always had a big ego, but there was also a part of him that believed he was all talk. Now that part appears to be gooooone. I'm sure being Gwyneth's baby's daddy played a role in that. Argh.

I think you're right. He was always so back and forth. One minute he'd say, "We're the best band in the world!" but then he'd talk about how he lost his virginity at the age of 22 or how he didn't drink or curse. The (at the time) Wannabe Rock God and the Insecure Dolt. Oh, and the Artist. There you go, the Three Faces of Chris. Heh.

Just think, in five or so years, when it becomes obvious that Coldplay is in fact not the next U2, he will not only be obnoxious but bitter. He wants stardom, Bono-style. Always has. The other guys? Nah, not so much. Maybe Guye, to a degree, but we have theories about that don't we. ;)

I swear Oasis had an album after Standing on the Shoulder of Giants but I don't know what it was called. I think their newest is their... sixth?

Poor man. Well, not literally. But still.

I still can't believe they named that child Apple. Poor child.

You know if I had a hard copy, 3B would be the first to benefit from it, and I totally feel you on the stadium thing. So not a stadium band. U2 is anthemic ampitheatres, Coldplay is the Fillmore. The sound just doesn't translate at all.

Yis. I like Warning Sign :)
