Okay, the Lyla/Jason? Starting to break me down, not in the writing it way, but just, dude, she seems seriously contrite and he's sure as hell making her work for it, which that 'if you wanna get laid go see Riggins' thing? See, I get the whole pining, labours-of-Hercules-type-tests-to-regain-the-trust thing; it can be a lot of fun to read in fic and watch. Thing is, the actress is just not up to it: I don't want to bash Minka Kelly, but she's simply too wooden for the contrition to show up as anything but pettishness, and it's bleeding into my reading of the pair of them as bland. Now Tim and Tyra, with far more verbal economy and and much less screentime, just crackle together, 'cause the actors have chemistry.
More importantly though, that scene with him in the shower? Not even picspam could cover the AWESOME of it all. And the whole Clay Aiken thing is the one scene where I could actually believe that Jay and Lyla were actually a longstanding couple, with little in-jokes and couple-shorthand. It was seriously cute.
