Okay, flist, here's your chance to shine. If a girl was going to Lush for the very first time ever and just wanted to buy things to make herself happy, what should she get and why? C'mon. Impress me with your vast knowledge.

ETA: MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!! I bought, err, like, everything. I got two bath something or others, not the balls, they're big dissolve things (checks catalogue) bubble bars called The Comforter and Karma (yes, y'all are big on Karma). I got a Big Blue (It has seaweed! I'm trusting you here thepouncer). I also got the Extra Virgin Olive Oil soap, Coalface and Demon in the Dark (yes, on your suggestion S), oh and some Nude soap. And then, because I spent so much they gave me a big ass bag of leftover stuff from the holidays which weighed more than what I bought. AWESOME! Thank you guys. *hugs flist*

Veganese shampoo. I am not vegan, nor do I want to be, but this shampoo could not be nicer.

Also Skin Sin handcream. It smells like cherries and is possibly one of the most beautiful things I have ever put on my body.

3) Angel's Delight (http://usa.lush.com/cgi-bin/lushdb/833.1?expand=Soap) or Extra Virgin Olive Oil (http://usa.lush.com/cgi-bin/lushdb/828?expand=Soap) or Karma (http://usa.lush.com/cgi-bin/lushdb/701?expand=Soap) soaps - smelling pretty and not overwhelming every day!

Now, for the stuff that I would spoil myself with after a long week:

My advice:

The bath bombs are always sort of fun. And the soaps are cute.

Skip the shampoo bars. In fact, I would reccommend staying as far away as possible from the hair care products.

I do not know your type of skin but I adore Mask of Magnaminty. However, I am not sure that it is good for dryer skin. I love love LOVE the smell of the Silky Underwear powder. And it really is nice and silky. Last, but certainly not least, for awesome home pedies get you some Volcano Foot Mask and Fair Trade Foot Lotion!

There is so much I want to try there but it's expensive and the stuff is so natural that you have to use it up fast so it doesn't go bad.

BASICALLY KARMA IS THE BEST SCENT EVER. I like the soap the best, but I've also used the shampoo cake and I hear the bath bomb is very excellent (if you take baths, of course). I also use the Sonic Death Monkey shower gel (smells like coffee and chocolate!). I have previously used the Demon in the Dark soap (very good at waking you up, quite refreshing), but it has a layer of black wax on it that's supposed to be easy to peel off but really really isn't.

I have a couple massage bars but I find them mostly useless. They smell nice, though!

Bath Bombs are so much love that I can't even describe them but you should get some because they're fucking ace.

I don't know if they do this in the USA - and I'm far too lazy to click the link - but there's a shower gel called Snow Fairy in the UK that is all kinds of yummy. Smells a bit like strawberry/bubblegum and has glitter in it. How much happier can you get?

i'm in love with the Karma line. it smells sweet on some people, but i have acidic skin (ha!) and it balances out on me. The Tramp (kind of a chlorophyll /greenish smell) and Happy Hippy (lemony) bath/hair/shower gels are wonderful, go a long way, and come in great travel sizes. the hard shampoos are also great for travel. i can't say enough good things about the Ocean Salt scrub (plus, it has Vodka in it). the Imperialis face moisturizer is heavenly.

I love the Cynthia Sylvia Stout shampoo - lemons and cognac! It makes my hair shiny and sleek, I've even gotten compliments about my hair when the only thing I did, besides a quick brush, was wash it with CSS.

Oh! Well. What do you like? Fruity scents, lavender, jasmine, ginger, milky things, vanillas, and/or sugary stuff? Bath oils, effervesence, or bubbles? Gels or soaps? Sparkly or no?

Seriously, smell everything. And get a bath bomb, and a bubble slice, and a jelly and a soap and a masage bar and a bath gel in the scents you like most.

My favorite thing they have over the hols is Snow Fairy but they might be out by now at the store you go to. Ask if they have any leftover Holiday merchandise and get at least one small bottle of something if they do.

The bath bombs top my indulgence list. I got some Old Blue Skies shower gel that smells very strong in the bottle, but is nice in the shower. It's patchouli-cinnamon, and I do like it.

I am not a big bar soap user, so that should be taken into account. But I thought the Karma soap smelled so nice that I got it for a couple people at Christmas.

I like the massage bar that smells like cocoa, and there's a bubble bar that is chocolate scented, too. I never use as much of the bubble bar as they recommend, by the way, so factor that into the price.

First, understand that Lush is an evil, evil place that drains your money just by setting foot in the store.

Buffy the backside slayer for your arse and legs (cocoa butter and exffoliator)

Aqua marina or angels on bare skin for the face.

face masks - love lettuce, magnaminty or the seaweed one.

soap - extra virgin, alkmaar or figs and leaves (bear in mind my body skin, unlike my face skin, is sensitive and can't take the strong citrus-y ones - I can't even take honey I washed the kids) Figs and leaves works well for exfoliating as well.

shampoo - seanick or ultimate shine, pity the US don't have what's new pussycat.

bubble baths - amandapondo or the ma bar (roses or chocoloate and caramel, your choice)

I adore Lush and Lush products, but the most important thing to remember at Lush, as Heidi8 says, is to smell everything. You need to like the scent of any product or you won't like it.

I get compliments often when I've conditioned with American Cream, but I don't think its as super moisturizing as they say if you're using a drying shampoo like Big.

Buffy bars are my favorite. I try to use it religiously at least once a week. It really does make a difference.

I really like their soaps, personal favorites are the honey smelling soap, karma, the lemon one and the olive oil one.

I really like Dream Cream the moisturizer-no residue, sinks in super quickly to be able to get dressed. I really like how it smells, I know some other people don't.

I have sensitive skin that doesn't like oils, Afterlife works great as a face moisturizer for me. Again, it sinks in quickly with no oily residue.

You must try a bath bomb/bubble bar. They're pretty much totally decadent if you use the whole thing like they say. My personal fav is Blue Skies bubble bar which I generally pair with a bath bomb to soften the water and make more bubbles. If you do get a bubble bar, the old "put it in a piece of old stocking and hand from the faucet to get more bubbles" really works and makes a difference.

No matter what you do or don't get, enjoy!

the bath bombs are spectacular. i used the 'all that jasmine', 'waving not drowning', and i we bathed the baby with the 'butterball'.

If you have dry-ish skin, try Dream Cream. It's more expensive than a bath bomb, but will last much longer!

I also love the bio-fresh face masks: Brazened Honey does wonders for my skin. But they only last a couple of weeks, so don't get one when you're about to do some travel.

I hope you enjoy the rest of the items you got. I've dumped outrageous amounts of money at Lush, even factoring in the fact that I get gifts for people at the same time that I indulge myself. I think my current record is around $140 at once. :O

But then they gave me a huge pile of freebies, so it was great. :D

I pretty much use it as my "I had a shitty day so I am treating myself and having a hot bath later" store.

Lush is an obsession, and now they're opening one in my local mall so I won't even have to travel to Boston to go. My favorites are Angels on Bare Skin and Ocean Salt for the face (I have dry skin), Sakura bath bombs, Retread conditioner (although you only need, like, 1 milliliter at a time), and Candy Fluff powder.

The Buffy bar is fantastic, even though it only lasts for a few uses. I've also used the Soft Coeur, Pleasure Treasure, and Wiccy Muscles massage bars.

Their regular bar soaps are too drying for me. They gave away huge chunks of Alkmaar one time but it's too drying and to me, smells like cheese, and while I love the smell of the coconut soap, it's too drying and it clogs my shower drain.

Every time I go, I end up spending a ton, but they also give away tons of free things as well.
