It's that special time of year again: UPFRONTS!

This week is upfronts. For the people who don't know, upfronts are when the American broadcast networks announce their schedules for the following season, in this case autumn 2007-2008.

Today, NBC announced its schedule, and since it's the only broadcast net with shows I actually watch, this will be the only one I talk about.

The Good: Friday Nights Lights, our most beloved show, is coming back.
The Bad: They're moving it to Friday nights. At 10pm.
Consensus: They could have just stabbed it and saved us all the pain of a slow death.

The Good: Heroes will be back in the same time slot next year.
The Bad: Dude, we have to wait until September. That's, like, a long way away.
Consensus: In conclusion? NATHAN!

The Good: There is going to be a Heroes spin-off called 'Heroes: Origins'.
The Bad: There will be none of the original characters. Actually, this may not be a bad thing at all. Maybe we can get some Daddy Petrelli!
Consensus: I got nothing. That's now 30 hours of Heroes.

In conclusion? NATHAN.

In conclusion? NATHAN.

*ahem* And Peter. :-)

Yeah, but if they're trying to build on the L&O lead-in, it could be a good thing. *shrugs*

Maybe we can get some Daddy Petrelli!

My first reaction when I saw the mention of the Heroes: Origins series?

How many other children has Nathan Petrelli sired?

But you're right - maybe we'll see Daddy Petrelli as, odds are at least one of the people in the Origins story is probably a Random Half-Sibling of Ethan and Harrison Nathan and Peter.

Will it be a young Daddy Petrelli played by Adrian because that would be awesome.

And poor, poor Friday Night Lights. I will eventually get over the fact that Tim Riggins looks like a young Christian Kane and watch all the episodes so I can suffer with you.

Okay, I haven't hit my usual TV-discussion spots, but moving FNL to Fridays might not be that bad.

1. Friday is the second-lowest viewed night of primetime; with lower numbers of people watching network TV, NBC may be happier with a smaller number of viewers. Homicide: Life on the Street eked out an extra 3-4 seasons because it aired on Friday, IMHO.

2. It doesn't have to lead off an evening of programming, which is good.

3. From a marketing standpoint, it makes sense to have FNL actually airing on Fridays. I read tons of comments on various boards and forums this year wondering why a show with "Friday" in the title was airing on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. I quote... somebody: "Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people."

The move to Fridays didn't kill Las Vegas, so I hold out hope. Though I don't know how well those two will go together.

Either way. Yay, renewal!

Yes, very much Nathan. Much of my willpower is focused on tuning out the possibility of his dying because I will. not. be able. to stand it. It's as simple as that. My friends are starting to think I'm far too involved with the show because it's all I've been talking about. Nathan. cannot. die.

A spinoff? Really? I know that they were talking about it when they said that the second season of Heroes wouldn't have a lot of season one's main characters. Then they changed their minds--they got wind of the whole "if you get rid of Sylar, Nathan, and Peter, we'll have to kill you off slowly" thing. I'd really like to know about how sword-wielding badass Papa Nakamura got involved with Primatech Paper, but I'm more interested in what Papa and Mama Petrelli can do. I'd like to think that Peter's dad is an empath. Sure, it could be Angela, but she's just such a bitch (she's awesome, but she scares me so much at the same time). I mean, Claude--and everyone else Peter knows, for that matter--kept saying that Peter cares too much, and obviously Papa Petrelli cared enough about something to try to kill himself more than once...

Uh... sorry for the long comment. What can I say? I got excited. I'd like to say that it will never happen again, but I'd be lying.
