There are three truths: mine, yours and the person next door’s

I was supposed to have a day of writing rest. Goddamn friggin insomnia. Would you rather wake up at 3am and be awake for 2 hours or just wake up every half hour on the hour? Me? I’d just like the choice!

You Only Live Twice

You only live twice or so it seems. One life for yourself and one for your dreams

(Draco/Harry)

There are revelations through dreams and revelations through revelations, but Harry doesn’t experience any of those. He just has a revelation, full stop, end of story, no justification supplied.

If Harry were dreaming he could wake up, and if he had a say in the matter he could at least attempt to debate the point, but there isn’t one. There’s nothing to debate and there’s no one to consult.

Harry fancies Draco Malfoy and he doesn’t really have a reason why.

He just does.

Harry fancies Draco in the same way that Ron is a Weasley and Hermione is Muggle-born. It’s just the way that things are, it’s just the way that he is.

It’s simple enough for him to know that attempting to fight it is fruitless. Useless. Harry has chalked it up to being a universal truth, much like his hair colour. Being keen on Malfoy is something that he can do nothing about, but will do nothing to encourage.

Except that in his dreams, when he kisses Draco and Draco kisses him back, it's nothing like this. There's never desperation, or want, there are fewer noises and Draco doesn’t rip the sleeve of Harry's robe.

A simple spell to fix the robe, a not so simple spell to fix the teeth marks he’s left on Draco’s earlobe.

None of it really matters because snogging Draco Malfoy is Harry’s reality; and for once he doesn’t have to go to sleep to dream.

(Clark/Lex)

Clark’s bed is too small to contain his dreams, and he dreams of wider beds, larger beds.

Clark dreams of beds with footboards and four-posts. He imagines inflatable beds like the one Pete’s dad keeps for camping trips, and sleeping bags with dual occupancy capacity. Clark thinks about beds covered in silk duvet covers and Egyptian cotton linens matched with flannel pillowcases.

Clark will always like flannel, and he dreams of beds that are built for two.

+

Lex’s bed is enormous, but he’s always had enough bodies to keep it filled. It’s always been easier for Lex to ignore it’s size based on the sheer amount of occupants.

The location doesn’t matter, inevitably Lex always seems to have a bigger bed than anyone else. When he went away to boarding school he thought it had something to do with the sheer size of his body, but when he grew, so did the bed.

It was like a fairy tale gone awry. Nothing is Lex’s life has ever been like a fairy tale, except perhaps for his mother.

He remembers the bed never being so big when she was nearby, but she’s gone now and the beds are bigger than ever. All the beds Lex has shared and not once has he ever found one that fit him, at least not until he shared one with Clark.

Sharing a bed with Clark is like sleeping inside a dream that Lex never wants to leave.

*wail* Clark and Lex must be in love forever! None of this doomed tommyrot - the comics were all wrong damnit, Lex is not evil. He's too smily and cute!

As for Harry/Draco, I must confess I've gone right off that pairing recently(no, I don't quite know why either. saturation?) and will only read if it's got good plot or beautiful writing, and oh oh oh the beautiful writing. *melts*

Yes. Yes it is, Harry my lad, and the sooner you realise that in canon the better, you hear?

Lex is not evil.

you know i've been saying this since day one. lex is not evil, he's just misunderstood. all criminal masterminds are, just look at poor tom riddle.

i admit it, i'm a sucker for it but i think that's cos i'm still a newbie. it's either that or because i also mix in a healthy dose of oliver/harry, harry/ron, marcus/oliver, dean/seamus, james/lucius and apparently random snape bits.
