POLL TIME!

[Poll #1058504]

ETA: When I said 'my' baby daddy, I mean yours. Not mine. Mine is spelled Adrian Matthew Pasdar-Damon. I like the hyphenate. I also like smart men. Who look good in suits. And some times lederhosen -- but that's another story for another day.

I was forced to pick the last option in the first question, because my choice was NOT ON THERE. But it's also not a new choice. Entourage! Why was Entourage not an option? I'm finally getting into this fandom and you aren't even thinking about it anymore? WOE.

Now I must pout forever.

where I'm going to be irritated by everything about TWW because I didn't get to be in charge of it.

Well, you know this is the film I think Ryan and Rachel should've done together instead of The Notebook, because God knows, Ryan can do cracked out like nobody's business. *still shudders thinking about Half-Nelson*

JKran is way funnier and probably less likely to impregnate me and then run off with a supermodel.

Also, he IS a writer! And a director! He's multifaceted.

I do not find it hard to believe that he has more talent, personality and I dunno, stick-to-it-tiveness than a flaky football player. Just saying. As for him multi-tasking, as the boys at Defamer say, He's neurobic. Neurobic is hot.

http://www.fox.com/newamsterdam/

The premise is pretty cheesy- a Dutch soldier is mortally wounded when he saves a native American girl furing an attack on her tribe/village. The elders perform an "ancient spell" to grant him immortality until he finds his true love.

(Okay, I admit at this point I'm a bit pissed at this whole mystical indian cliche, but these are my own personal issues here.)

Fast forward 400 years, and John Amsterdam is a NYC homicide detective (and okay, this is where I'm already thinking about possible crossovers...) and apparently in the pilot he's partnered with a new detective and then when they apprehend a suspect, he has a heart attack. So now he's trying to figure out who his "true love" is, and all.

It sounds really cheesy, but I'm holding on to the hope that it could be good. Nik is lovely and charming, and I think he's due for his North American break.

I might have started to watch SGA and not hate it. SHE HAS POWERS, Z!!! Evil, evil powers!!

I'm sorry. I must've misread that. It read like you said you liked SGA.

(Okay, I admit at this point I'm a bit pissed at this whole mystical indian cliche, but these are my own personal issues here.)

Okay, so this is like The Fountain meets what's that one horrible White Man Saves Indian Woman Back in the Day When His Ancestors Came and Wiped Out a Whole Race of People movie? Right. You can have issues with me, I can't even read anymore.

[identity profile] amberlynne.livejournal.com 2007-09-20 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
That is decidedly NOT what I said. I said I did not *hate* it. Two completely unrelated feelings, liking and not hating. Practically different languages, those phrases!!

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2007-09-20 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll let you know as soon as I stop laughing my ass off.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2007-09-20 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry. I must have misread this comment. It read like you said you were finally interested in Entourage. After I nearly killed myself trying to get you into it for TWO YEARS. TWO WHOLE YEARS. I write Entourage (http://hackthis.livejournal.com/tag/entourage). I write Ari. I write Ari a WHOLE AUTOBIOGRAPHY (http://hackthis.livejournal.com/374807.html). I write Ari and George Clooney and Brad Pitt and Jake Gyllenhaal and Gay Landmarks! (http://hackthis.livejournal.com/tag/rps:+the+incredibly+true+adventures) And then I give up. And now you come around. You are like [livejournal.com profile] ethrosdemon. I feel tired now.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2007-09-20 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose I should be happy that I only disappointed one person today by showing them the SGA/Entourage AU that never got finished then. ;-)

[identity profile] thefourthvine.livejournal.com 2007-09-20 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Several weeks ago, my brain went PING! in the middle of the night, and suddenly I needed Entourage stories. (Sometimes it takes a while for these things to take hold of me. Look, I never promised to be fast, okay? But I get there in the end.)

I believe I have now read every single one in existence. I need MORE.

And so my choice for the first question is ENTOURAGE. Also, ENTOURAGE. And in conclusion, ENTOURAGE.

[identity profile] thefourthvine.livejournal.com 2007-09-20 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG, why are you TORMENTING me? That is pure meanness.

...Also, if you are handing unfinished copies of this AU, then I want one. Please please please?

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2007-09-20 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, I can make two people freak out today then. I supposed it's called W.O.E. (http://hackthis.livejournal.com/tag/sga:+w.o.e) for a reason... Also have you hit the [livejournal.com profile] yuletide archives? There are some majorly awesome stories there and I don't even mean mine.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2007-09-20 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
(Sometimes it takes a while for these things to take hold of me. Look, I never promised to be fast, okay? But I get there in the end.)

This only works because you are cute. Just saying.

[identity profile] thefourthvine.livejournal.com 2007-09-20 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course I have hit the [livejournal.com profile] yuletide archives; that was the first place I went. (OMG stories of awesomeness!) And then I went through your LJ and some communities and del.icio.us and - oh, I had a wonderful time, let me tell you. But I ate all the stories up and now there are no more left. My sorrow is great. Please tell me there is a secret storehouse of Entourage out there; I only have 31 stories to rec right now. And I have nothing left to read.

And this dearth of Entourage FF has caused tragedy. I have been forced to retreat into the unwelcoming and extremely adjective-intensive embrace of a pre-LJ fandom that has shown me the meaning of smarm. Which is not something I wanted to learn, frankly. (As far as I'm concerned, if two characters flirt for four chapters, hold hands, kiss, strip each other naked, and climb into bed together, that means they are going to have sex. Not cuddle in a totally non-sexual ("No, seriously," the author says, waving her hands wildly. "They are COMPLETELY STRAIGHT.") way and then talk about their feelings and childhoods and angst for five pages. Keep your feelings to yourselves, guys, and your hands on each other. That is my motto.)

[identity profile] thefourthvine.livejournal.com 2007-09-20 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Look at how cute my icon is! Don't you feel inclined to forgive me?

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2007-09-20 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought smarm was someone who was slimy and entirely too complimentary and made your skin crawl. There is a genre about -- wait. I am confused. The second half of that paragraph didn't make sense. And I quote two characters flirt for four chapters, hold hands, kiss, strip each other naked, and climb into bed together, that means they are going to have sex. Not cuddle in a totally non-sexual ("No, seriously," the author says, waving her hands wildly. "They are COMPLETELY STRAIGHT.")

That makes no sense. The author was in denial I take it. The epilogue probably had ass babies. ;)

[identity profile] thefourthvine.livejournal.com 2007-09-20 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
In fandom terms - and I knew this before I encountered my Pile o' Smarm, but I didn't get it, if you see what I mean - smarm is gen that is, um, intensely focused on the relationship between two men. (I don't think any het or f/f smarm exists, but maybe it does. What do I know?)

In practice, this works out so that you have stories where, for example (and this is a REAL EXAMPLE supplied by [livejournal.com profile] percysowner), Blair has to touch every square inch of Jim's naked body, and they get sweaty and so sticky that they need towels to clean up afterwards, and then they cuddle together naked while Jim reflects on how odd it is that anyone would think this might be a sexual relationship.

Because they are JUST GOOD FRIENDS.

(Note: I am probably biased by the fact that the second truly smarmy story I read had a note up top that said that a) slash sucked b) slash was destroying fandom and ruining lives and c) the author wrote the story to prove that you didn't need any of that nasty, dirty slash to write about REAL FEELINGS.)

The epilogue probably had ass babies.

Here's something I hoped I'd never have to say: these stories would be greatly improved by the addition of ass babies.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2007-09-20 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I have no idea what fandom you are referring to, and BOY, am I glad. Slash is ruining fandom, so here I will slash two men and get them sticky and naked and have them need towels to prove how bad that is. What's that saying about fighting for peace is like fucking for virginity...

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2007-09-20 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a lot of Baby Daddys. Just saying. Do you have a visitation schedule for them? How many diapers do you have to buy a week? Do you buy them by the truckload or what? Is bath time like a monsoon? Inquiring minds are curious.

Harems: the new daycares.

Oh, snap.

*takes notes*

That should be about the same time I'll stop hating myself.

1) I have many new toys, probably too many to share. But I believe everything should take a stab at writing porn about the utter aviator dorkiness of this picture:

2) Pushing Daisies! So adorable. Life is looking pretty great, too.

3) The baby daddies (or is it daddys?) rotate on a monthly basis. Currently on duty:

Mmmmmmmmmm, Bradley.
