I have a confession to make. (Or two)

When I was little, through various impressionable influences, I fell into the world of soap operas. Most specifically General Hospital. This was in the time of Frisco and Felicia, and Duke and Anna, and Robert and like anybody. Post-Luke and Laura, but still with plenty of things blowing up. I suspect that GH may have been my very first fandom in my single digit years, and over time (namely college and university) I have watched all the soaps. Really. Y&R, B&B, GL, DOOL, Loving (remember that one?), Eastenders, OLTL, AMC, Sunset Beach (the Sunday omnibus on 5), Hollyoaks and again, General Hospital (Jagger! Karen! Brenda! Sonny! The Triple L Diner!).

After college/uni this all stopped (thankfully), but recently I've found myself in a position to watch GH again, and sigh, yet A FUCKING GAIN, I find myself suckered. Namely by Spinelli. He's so incredibly geeky and adorable and okay, total geek crush happening here. *sigh* I just had to share that.

We won't even start on the whole Noah & Luke on ATWT even though I only know the storyline through Wikipedia and YouTube, and that awesome first time story [livejournal.com profile] sameoldhope linked to. A canonically gay couple! Who kiss on daytime TV!

DAMN YOU AMPTP! You see what your intractability has reduced me to?!

At least I uploaded my [livejournal.com profile] yuletide story today. Rock on with that one!

ETA: Yes, and Santa Barbara, too! And Generations! I come by my storytelling honestly!

omg DO NOT TEMPT ME. i will hate you forever.

(Did you watch Santa Barbara? I LOVED Santa Barbara, god)

I haven't watched since I was in high school, but man, the Brenda/Sonny thing had me CAPTIVATED. Really, General Hospital sucked me in every summer.

Yeah I really like Spinelli too. Maybe Jason could coucil him some more?

I have watched ATWT since the WOMB.

Stopped three years ago when I came here, but yes, that's still 27 years of ATWT.

Hallo on this, the exciting Elbow news day!

At least you quit for a while. I've been watching GH since I was 8-years old. I totally blame my Nana. It was always on when I got home from school. These days I'm all about Johnny. But I love the bad boys. And we know Port Charles is FULL of them!

May I point you to another awesome first time Luke/Noah story (http://mmmchelle.livejournal.com/256694.html)? :)

Nearly all my online friends are baffled at my GH obsession. My sister and I both watch it, and I blame my mother. She addicted us to it back in the days of which you speak - Frisco and Felicia, Anna and Duke. Now she laughs at us, but we still watch.

I love Spinelli! He is such a perfect foil for Jason, the cold hitman who is not nearly so cold as he appears. You just can't help but love Spinelli. (Unless you're Lulu, but whatever.)

I also admit a terrible growing fondness for Johnny. I want Jason to tell Sonny where to go and team up with Johnny instead. During the recent Black & White ball, the silent exchanges between those two were just perfect.

oh man, I used to be obsessed with Days of our Lives until my hardcore OTP couple left the show and I was crushed I went to college , but I blame Luke and Noah for getting interested me interested in soaps again. Damn you pretty boys!

(I used to watch Sunset Beach! And now I have to google what happened after the last episode I watched. Something with Ben's evil twin??)

SPINELLI! I know about five people besides me who were bummed that GH wasn't at [livejournal.com profile] yuletide because we all wanted to write Spinelli fic.

Plus, he's so perfect for x-over fic. The Jackal should travel and have adventures with ... everyone.

(ha! I like him enough I HAVE AN ICON.)

Heeeeee, you should have been around for the Metro Court storyline - Spinelli was all kinds of adorable getting his rescue on in that.

But mostly, I'm into Days because of one Mr. EJ Wells (http://svmadelyn.livejournal.com/460570.html). GUH. That man's hotness is UNHOLY.

we should start a support group. "I was fundamentally fucked up at a young age by soaps."

personally, i blame my grandmother.

You're a soap fan! Honestly, I lived off of GH since 2000. I stopped watching for a while, especially when I started college two and half years ago. But, every summer it draws me in and now I watch every now and then. We get SoapNet in the dorms now, so it's so much easier to catch one of those marathons in the weekends whenever I have a minute.

But, yes. I understand the obsession. Used to watch DOOL, too, oh back when there was the Brady/Chloe/Phillip triangle (I so cheered on Brady/Chloe, hehe, oh and Eric! I loved Eric!).

Soaps are evil and I blame boredom for getting me into them.
