Blah blah blah

1) I like the meme where you tell the person what makes you think of them. Let's play!

Are there any topics/things/whatever that you notice or think about that makes you think of me every time? If so, what are they? I'm curious!

2) Where is Shia? I have not seen any photos of him in weeks. This was a pressing question in my head the other night. He's still bitter about the break-up of his first gay relationship I know; he's better off without that teetotalling vegan anyway. I need to get him a new man. Maybe Ryan Gosling in that new film he's doing with Don Cheadle and George Clooney. It's called Night Crimes. Did I mention that Anderson Cooper has decided to work as a liaison for George? Yes, it's all very nice of him. He'll get paid in sex. What's that you say? You say you went to imdb and this movie isn't listed?! Well duh. Do you really think we'd get that lucky in real life?

3) I posted music on Friday for anyone who missed it.

3) I finally had a chance to see the first two new Torchwoods.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

a) Jack left the team? Best decision EVAR. Everybody is a selfish twat (except for Ianto) and deserved to be left after all their ungrateful behaviour.

b) John Barrowman continues to be the hottest gay man ever. Okay, he ties with George, but still. Cary Grant would be proud of his legacy.

c) He came back for Ianto! AWWWWWWWWWW! *squishes*

d) Wow, when did Russell T Davis become a hardcore Gwen/Jack shipper? Jack's upset she's engaged? They're having a moment. Somebody wake me up from this nightmare!

e) Gwen still irks the stuffing out of me, but Eve Myles has great hair. Damn.

f) Wait, is Owen trying to chat up Tosh?!

g) Jack asks Ianto out on a date! Dude, why did this have to happen after the Gwen moment, now it's been sullied like Ianto is second best. Bad! Boooo!

h) Some other stuff happens when Spike visits. I never cared for Spike though, and James Marsters needs to eat some meat. The fighting was good though. And I like how John obviously is still pining for Jack. Hell, I'd still be pining for Jack after a couple millennia too.

Sleeper

Wow did I not like this episode, I understand the whole concept of a sleeper agent perfectly, what upset the hell out of me was the whole treating of a victim as a suspect and Jack's complete disregard for anything in the assurance in what he just had to know was right. What if he'd been wrong? Yes, I know he wasn't, but at the same time it was like sitting in interrogation at Guantanamo. Yeah, no love for this episode.

ETA: Sorry about that cut-tag SNAFU!

*skims past the Torchwood spoilers*

Green tea!

What if he'd been wrong?

They would have retconned her, dropped her back in her life, and then forgotten all about it.

Yes, I know he wasn't, but at the same time It was like sitting in interrogation at Guantanamo.

Yup. They are incompetent, overconfident to the point of obnoxious arrogance, all the while believing they are the saviors of humanity. If the show wasn't so cracktastic it would be utterly horrifying. As it is, I enjoy the hell out of it because it's such a fucking joke. Torchwood is really supposed to be our first line of defense against the end of the world? Poor Wales. ;-)

Oh, and:

Wow, when did Russell T Davis become a hardcare Gwen/Jack shipper? Jack's upset she's engaged?

I didn't read it that way at ALL. Jack is an egomaniac who doesn't like to share. He wants all of them to worship him. I don't think he gives a shit about Gwen's sex life (he didn't seem all that concerned when she was banging Owen) but the idea that she would actually commit herself to someone is threatening to his position as the object of worship and focus for all the members of his team. I think he prefers them disfunctional and damaged. More fun that way. (Don't get me wrong, though. I luuuuuuuuuuuuuuv Jack for that very reason. He's a total bastard.)

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
You haven't seen Torchwood yet? I thought I was the last one to see it!

Also, I love green tea, yo. Green tea itself, green tea ice cream. I tried the Starbuck's green tea latte though and it was appallingly bad. As all things from Starbucks are. I shouldn't have been surprised. *makes face*

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
They would have retconned her, dropped her back in her life, and then forgotten all about it.

Jesus, you're right. I'd always sort of glossed over how totally immoral and unethical they are -- except for when Gwen retconned Rhys, that made me murderous -- but this just completely made me livid. *shakes head* Poor Wales, indeed. Unless the end of the world can be stopped by mere hotass alone.

Also, I very much like your take on control-freak Jack, who loves his dysfunctional damaged team. It makes me think of the analogy I had last year where Jack was a single-parent and everyone else was one of his wayward child. In this scenario Ianto was the stepmom though, which is why everyone ignored his authority. Jack is a total bastard. A hotass total bastard. Hotass excuses a lot.

Haven't seen 2x02, so I'm skimming that. But:

George
Ari
Ryan
Black boots
BoB
Nathan

to begin with.

[identity profile] mymatedave.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
one of things I've seen on LJ is that although the team are the protagonists, they're also, and it says this in the credits, above the law.

The job turns them into unpleasant people. One of the analysis posts about them says that part of what the show is about, is the 'power corrupts' theme.

Now whether or not RTD's doing this deliberately or the poster's reading something that doesn't exist into the series, it's a thought provoking show.

[identity profile] ethrosdemon.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Let's see.

I'm sure I could cook up a list.

Joe Purdy
Hating on Ryan Adams
Brad and Angelina's kids

*

You tricked me with that movie. I thought you were serious. OH WELL.

I engage in schadenfreude over your Gwen/Jack hate as I ship them. I am perverse!

I also have no love for Marsters. I think we are alone on that raft.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw, George. And Ari. And Ryan. And BoB! Which you still haven't seen [insert sad face]. Oh, Nathan. *sniff*

[identity profile] serialkarma.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
No, honey, I don't have BBCA, remember.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude, so, I heard Angie's knocked up again. I dunno. I'll believe it when I get some real proof, cos all the photos I saw were of when she was pregnant with Shiloh, which people would realize if they'd look at Maddox and how young he is in the photos. That's too much thought, isn't it? Whatever.

Also, I sucked you in with my next project I see. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I win.

I can't stand Gwen. Her hair is awesome, but her attitude leaves a lot to be desired [/understatement].

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't consider it thought-provoking, I just consider it maddening in a lot of ways. I don't really think the job makes them unpleasant but that it brings out tendencies that were already there and gives an excuse for them to act worse.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I watched them, err, elsewhere, because I was convinced BBCA would edit them. And yes, I have heard about the lack of BBCA in Brooklyn. This concerns me greatly.

[identity profile] ethrosdemon.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I liked Angie's SAG awards dress (that was what it was, right, SAG)? Man, can they chill the hell out with the kids? It's like some kind of addiction! I think George is disgusted.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I wasn't feeling the dress, she'd prolly say the colors were unifying her sprog or something, but for reals they need to take a procreation break. The other kids are totally going to be outnumbered at this rate. George thinks they should just get a fucking dog. Ari sent him a large sedation basket along with Anderson's phone number. Again. Ari is not subtle. Maybe I will write about that.

[identity profile] ethrosdemon.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
YES!

There should be a whole George and Anderson story about them being urbanely rude about Brad and Angie's kid addiction. Let there be lots of charming banter and tuxedos with the bow tie dangling.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course I would be inspired right before a meeting.

[identity profile] romanticalgirl.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I associate you most with music. And Slytherin.

[identity profile] ethrosdemon.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
When you come back.
I would like to also request commentary about Casey Affleck getting an Oscar nod.

[identity profile] antheia.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't! But given how backed up I am? It's gonna be a while. I mean, hell, I haven't even seen Friday's Psych yet.

[identity profile] antheia.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, you two. ♥

[identity profile] ethrosdemon.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
We love them, so, Kate. George really should pay us to write a comical biography.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Casey's really good all of a sudden. I give him props. Also, did you *just* see Michael Clayton, b/c you know George killed it.

[identity profile] ethrosdemon.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, when it was in theaters the first time, I was...who knows? In France? In space? On drugs?

Performance of his career to date, I could not agree more. (He is so fine I can't believe he doesn't set off riots. He's gained some of the weight he lost too much of back and is out to out-sex the universe.)

Torchwood is the only show we brought the characters of into my RPG just so we could beat on them because they are so horrific.

Seriously, Jim Profit has them all beat ethics-wise. But he can't run that team because he'd kill them all.

[identity profile] antheia.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
What is not to love, Kassie? They're win and love and joy. *g*
