Are there any topics/things/whatever that you notice or think about that makes you think of me every time? If so, what are they? I'm curious!

2) Where is Shia? I have not seen any photos of him in weeks. This was a pressing question in my head the other night. He's still bitter about the break-up of his first gay relationship I know; he's better off without that teetotalling vegan anyway. I need to get him a new man. Maybe Ryan Gosling in that new film he's doing with Don Cheadle and George Clooney. It's called Night Crimes. Did I mention that Anderson Cooper has decided to work as a liaison for George? Yes, it's all very nice of him. He'll get paid in sex. What's that you say? You say you went to imdb and this movie isn't listed?! Well duh. Do you really think we'd get that lucky in real life?

3) I finally had a chance to see the first two new Torchwoods.





Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

a) Jack left the team? Best decision EVAR. Everybody is a selfish twat (except for Ianto) and deserved to be left after all their ungrateful behaviour.

b) John Barrowman continues to be the hottest gay man ever. Okay, he ties with George, but still. Cary Grant would be proud of his legacy.

c) He came back for Ianto! AWWWWWWWWWW! *squishes*

d) Wow, when did Russell T Davis become a hardcore Gwen/Jack shipper? Jack's upset she's engaged? They're having a moment. Somebody wake me up from this nightmare!

e) Gwen still irks the stuffing out of me, but Eve Myles has great hair. Damn.

f) Wait, is Owen trying to chat up Tosh?!

g) Jack asks Ianto out on a date! Dude, why did this have to happen after the Gwen moment, now it's been sullied like Ianto is second best. Bad! Boooo!

h) Some other stuff happens when Spike visits. I never cared for Spike though, and James Marsters needs to eat some meat. The fighting was good though. And I like how John obviously is still pining for Jack. Hell, I'd still be pining for Jack after a couple millennia too.

Sleeper

Wow did I not like this episode, I understand the whole concept of a sleeper agent perfectly, what upset the hell out of me was the whole treating of a victim as a suspect and Jack's complete disregard for anything in the assurance in what he just had to know was right. What if he'd been wrong? Yes, I know he wasn't, but at the same time it was like sitting in interrogation at Guantanamo. Yeah, no love for this episode.

Yup. They are incompetent, overconfident to the point of obnoxious arrogance, all the while believing they are the saviors of humanity. If the show wasn't so cracktastic it would be utterly horrifying. As it is, I enjoy the hell out of it because it's such a fucking joke. Torchwood is really supposed to be our first line of defense against the end of the world? Poor Wales. ;-)

I didn't read it that way at ALL. Jack is an egomaniac who doesn't like to share. He wants all of them to worship him. I don't think he gives a shit about Gwen's sex life (he didn't seem all that concerned when she was banging Owen) but the idea that she would actually commit herself to someone is threatening to his position as the object of worship and focus for all the members of his team. I think he prefers them disfunctional and damaged. More fun that way. (Don't get me wrong, though. I luuuuuuuuuuuuuuv Jack for that very reason. He's a total bastard.)

one of things I've seen on LJ is that although the team are the protagonists, they're also, and it says this in the credits, above the law.

The job turns them into unpleasant people. One of the analysis posts about them says that part of what the show is about, is the 'power corrupts' theme.

Now whether or not RTD's doing this deliberately or the poster's reading something that doesn't exist into the series, it's a thought provoking show.

When watching Torchwood, I turn any critcal thinking part of my brain off, and turn up the 'appreciating the pretty' part way up. It makes it a much less painful experience. Jack? Pretty. Ianto? Bratty and Pretty. Tosh? Pretty. Jack and Ianto flirting? Pretty. Plot? Huh? I only care if it's pretty.

See, it's like this, I want to hate Gwen. I mean, I really, really want to hate her. And then all that happens is I end up picturing her butt nestled into Jack's crotch when he taught her how to shoot a gun and by eyes go all fuzzy. It's really unfair and it derails me every. fucking. time. I manage to get my hate on.

Yeah. But I'm right there with you on 2.02 -- there was something completely wrong with the way they treated that woman. In fact, Torchwood raises a lot of issues with the way they treat aliens in general. Tosh actually mentions something when they use the Weevils as bait during "Combat." Annnnywho.

Shia at an AAA meeting (http://community.livejournal.com/ohnotheydidnt/19513154.html). I am not sure why he is doing it. He does not look like someone with a hardcore problem. Maybe this was the price to pay for being let off by the Walgreens. I actually passed by that Walgreens and asked them about Shia, barely two weeks later. (Not entirely in the stalkery way. gwen/jack - Jack wants to be the centre of everyone's attention and wouldn't mind shagging all of them - but the person he *actually* wants to be with and invest time in is Ianto. (also, Chris Chibnall who's the main showrunner is a Jack/Ianto shipper - most of the body language slashy moments, aka the ones that would keep slashers pointing and going OMG OTP PROOF in any other show are the eps he wrote. Of course, in this show, if we haven't been shown actual snogging or shagging or asking out on dates or comments about behaviour in bed, it ain't happening. :sigh: I love my show that's made in a vat by fangirls at 3am.)

Re: Sleeper. Yeah. Above the law, extraordinary rendition, no lawyers - these are things that torchwood *does*. Not nice in the slightest, and they remind us of how these are scary scary fuckers. Plus, remember that they're led by a man whose job used to be torture, they take their cues of acceptable behaviour from him and go on from there.

My thoughts exactly. I truly thought I was in a nightmare while watching that scene.

Lol, I just watched that scene dubiously and went on. Tosh's crush is a bit annoying to me.
