What's all this decent network telly business?

Dear Southland,

You made Bull Randleman gay?!!

FOR THE MOTHERFUCKING WIN! *high five*

Seriously, when I saw Bull in the bar, in his tight black tee shirt (nice guns, Michael Cudlitz!), drinking that piss, err Corona, and the second I saw Crusing!Man next to him, something pinged about what I'd heard about the series and my brain was like, "Oh, sweet baby Jesus, Bull is gay. They went there. WOW."

Show, please do not be leaving like Kings, which was supposed to be in your time slot, but you are clearly for the investment.

Also, Ryan, err, Ben, um, so Ben Mckenzie, is it just weird to share your first name with your character? Oh, who cares, you haven't aged a fucking day, and that line about Ferrari guy getting your lawyer dad to get him off? PRICELESS! *high five Southland writers*

Double high five for Ben taking a Black Studies class!

Triple high five for Regina King (227 in the house!)!

And some other stuff happened, but I couldn't tell you what, because Bull, Ben and Regina for the WIN! Real acting hooray! *\o/*

I swear I am not thinking of the story where Ryan and Seth had a horrible messy break up -- Seth always was a selfish wanker -- and so Ryan left and joined the LAPD and then he gets partnered with Bull and there is stupidly hot, filthy sex in the back of the squad car.

Okay, I lied. I NEED THAT STORY.

<3,
X

Seriously, people, watch this show!

Yayyyyy!! Yes! That! All that!

(and dude, I don't know if you saw, but the subtle reveal was too subtle for more than a few people on my flist, who missed it)

BUT THEY MADE BULL GAY! YAYY!!!

That made me so happy. :) As did the rest of the episode.

And while I don't ship Ben/Bull quite yet, I am sure that given another episode or two I will be SO DOWN with writing filthy squad car sex... or maybe somewhere that doesn't give them a staph infection.

They missed it? How could you miss it?! Like all the signs where there, tight shirt, Cruising!Man, conversation with a bloody perp, a bar full of men that aren't watching sports and without even a female waitress?! Dude, the only thing lacking was a rainbow flag!

Whatever, I love Michael Cudlitz and I cannot *wait* to see what they do with this. As for the Ben/Bull, I spent the entire night staring at Ben Mckenzie's hair and how soft it looks and all I could think was 'must touch' -- I know I can't be the only one.

I am totally willing to write it, sign me up.

Icons. I needs them.

I admit, I whiffed the first time through watching, and I was watching the widescreen version - the fullscreen crops out the hottie tank-top bartender, and focuses you more tightly on Bull. I mean, as soon as I finished watching it I was like... heyyyy, I misses something there, but on first watch, I was focused on Bull and his beer sucking, and the dark background was kind of ignored by me. I pinged on the arrested gay man, but was like, coincidences are funny... wait a second. Waaaaait a second.

Then on rewatch, I start looking through the crowd for women, and notice all the body language, and the sexy!bartender and was like! FTW! But I'm telling you, more than a few otherwise savvy and slash-aware people on my Flist commented on my last southland post with a ! I totally didn't see that.

And yeah, I totally see Bull/Ben coming. I don't want to necessarily slash them just because Bull's gay and Ben's hot, but .. yeah. The instant we get a little more info on Bull's gayness (is he angstily closeted (guessing no since anyone super closeted wouldn't hang in a local gay bar, I think)), is it an open secret, does he have a BF, is he Bi, etc, so forth) I'm going to totally be writing about that.

I'm *really* eager to have a show with gay canon to work with, particularly w/ someone who has to negotiate such a particular world as policemanning.
