LURKER AMNESTY DAY!

I'm copying this word-for-word from the most awesome [livejournal.com profile] scribblinlenore and declaring today Lurker Amnesty Day! Read but never comment? Surf by occasionally? Here for the fic? Say hello! You are under no obligation to ever comment or delurk again, but here's a chance to do so in a post just for that.

And, you know, if you aren't a lurker but want to say hello and amuse me, that would also make me happy! Amusement is always welcome.

ETA: If you are looking for something awesome in your life, why not try watching The Unusuals. ABC, 10pm, tonight (Wednesday). I offer Exhibits #1 and #2 for your consideration.

ETA#2: As I told [livejournal.com profile] sockich: I am so impressed by how many of you guys are all GENERATION KILL, YEAH! and SOUTHLAND, HOORAY! Seriously it's totally making my day.

Stop. The. Madness.

I've loved your fic since reading Telegraph Avenue, where I lived a block away from where your characters did!

Hello, I lurk ;) I don't know about amusing but I'm loving The Unusuals, too ;)

I'm not so much a lurker as a stalker who only comments once in a while!

I have to give credit to [livejournal.com profile] m_buggie for turning me on to GK, but it was your GK fic that led me down the evil path to Swim!Slash, Merlin, Southland and, now, the Unusuals!

[identity profile] incredulity.livejournal.com 2009-04-29 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I just recently added you, here because YAY SOUTHLAND!

Hey, found your journal via your Merlin fic which is completely of the awesome :D Then read your first Southland fic and decided to see what the excitement was about. Think I'll thank you for that forever, haha. Your general journal entries are usually pretty fun too :D.

Pretty much seconding what everyone else has already said: your fics are made of awesome, you have sucked me into multiple fandoms, provided fantastic music recs and are a generally great source of thinky posts. So, THANK YOU!

Well hello!
The Unusuals is an awesome show, but it doesnt take the place of Life on Mars.
Im here for the fic, and the conversation.

[identity profile] megaloo13.livejournal.com 2009-04-30 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
Hullo!

I first came here for a delightful Sylar-centric Heroes fic you wrote and stayed for the Iron Man, Die Hard and Merlin. I was sucked in by the way you can write in a plethora of characters' voices, all while injecting a unique humor and heart into your fic.

Due to your praise of the first episode of Southland, I am now a follower of that as well. So thanks for the hours of entertainment and new fandoms! :D

I'm here for more Nate/Brad, because your stories make me grin all day. Actually all and any Generation Kill love, I'm down with. :)
ext_3450: readhead in a tophat. She looks vaguely like I might, were I young and pretty. (Hi! by poison in jest)

Hello!

Sort of lurker. I tend to stay quiet unless I don't, so hi! I've commented before, I will again, but not regularly.

Lurker

Hello there.

[identity profile] jenparakeet.livejournal.com 2009-04-30 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
I originally came for the well-written, awesome HP fic. Now I stay for the well-written posts and general awesomeness.

[identity profile] lula-q.livejournal.com 2009-04-30 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
It's my theory that the better the canon, the smaller the fandom. Generation Kill was awesome, so it doesn't get a lot of fic written about it. Then you have shows like Supernatural, which is cheesy at best and offensive at worst, so it becomes this big crazy fandom with the incest vs. angel!porn slash wars.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2009-04-30 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
This would explain why fic for The Wire is non existent, yes.

[identity profile] lula-q.livejournal.com 2009-04-30 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
There's no fic for The Wire?

Crap. Two weeks ago I rented the first season, am watching the fifth episode as we speak and was just about to go looking for Omar Little being awesome fic.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2009-04-30 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
The *only* time I have seen fic for The Wire is [livejournal.com profile] yuletide It was a small story by [livejournal.com profile] rustler, but it is indeed awesome.

[identity profile] lula-q.livejournal.com 2009-04-30 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Well, on one hand I'm happy that my theory about the good TV getting no fic is holding through. On the other hand, I really would have liked to read Wire fanfic.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2009-04-30 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I think that's one of many factors contributing to the lack of Wire fic (majority PoC cast, pay channel network), but it's been a long day, so we'll not go there.

[identity profile] robjlea.livejournal.com 2009-04-30 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks for the reminder on The Unusuals - set up the tivo!

I am really liking the show - it fits the title and I like how it is not really serious, like at all. Yea!

I really like your writing and recs and I will try to be more vocal on about my enjoyment. You totally get credit for my reading GK and Merlin with your recs and writing.

[identity profile] lula-q.livejournal.com 2009-04-30 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
Southland doesn’t have to be like The Wire, you know. All it needs is fic. Dirty, hot fic where Cooper has dirty, hot sex with Ben. Served up with some gratuitous Beverly Hills snark.

[identity profile] incoherenteye.livejournal.com 2009-04-30 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
hi! i actually started watching you today. So, I don't count too much as a lurker?

I should have friended you earlier, because i've always loved your Merlin stories. It's the Southland stories that made me do it. I'm totally obsessed with that show. At first, I was like another cop show?? but it's amazingggggggggg!!!

[identity profile] temperance-k.livejournal.com 2009-04-30 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
Hi! :3

I started reading your LJ entries during the Presidential elections but was sidetracked by your fantastic Ari-centric fanfiction that got me to start watching Entourage. I stayed up into the wee hours of the morning trying not to wake up the whole house by laughing while I read because it cheered me up so much.

Then I noticed all of the Generation Kill entries, and while I had missed the miniseries on HBO, I dug up the episodes and instantly fell in love. This was only reinforced by your fanfiction, the fandom in general, One Bullet Away, and Nate Fick's (fictional and real) awesomeness.

When you mentioned Southland, I decided that since you had already showed me the Promised Land once, it was highly probable that you could do it again, so I started watching the series. I am now terribly addicted and ashamed at my friends for not following the trend (although they are all watching Generation Kill because of me. We might just shout "Get some!" a little too much).

So, here's a lurker de-lurking just to thank you for everything you post. The fanfiction, the fandom, and the politics. I hope it never ends.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2009-04-30 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
I'm trying! I'm trying! You would not believe how hard it is to get Cooper's clothes off. Ben's been naked for like a whole day at this point.
