I'm not going to follow you like some nervous poodle.

1. I am going to write a story called Fire on the Exhale, which is a shooting reference for those who don't spend too much time watching the Military Channel.

2. I don't think I'm doing [livejournal.com profile] yuletide this year, which will be the first year since it started that I haven't signed up, but I just don't have it in me. I am kind of sad about this, but I have to prioritize.

3. Dear White Collar,

The idea is that the shows are supposed to get BETTER as you go along, not worse. Each episode from the pilot has gotten progressively less interesting and more bland. Despite popular belief, you cannot hold my interest on looks alone. Looks are meant to enhance, like a very nice hat, they cannot be the sole substance. Fail, man. You also can't magically exchange one minority for another and not expect anybody to notice.

You are on notice. Clean up your act or we're over.

No love,
X

This once again leaves me with ZERO shows until January 12. Oh my god, Cooper and Ben and Lydia hurry up.

4. I am looking for music. I'm interested in trying out anything by Colin Hay (I have waiting for my real life to begin and I just don't think I'll ever get over losing you) and Iron & Wine (I have Sodom, South Georgia, AB's Song, Flightless Bird, and a few others) so, if you have a favorite, please feel free to share it!

I am also looking for Big Brovaz 'Favourite Things', New Edition's Heart Break album, and the Double CD of Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong.

I am also looking for a single, straight, hotass, Recon Marine between the ages of 28 and 35, with a brain between his ears, at least one good moral, and who doesn't mind Johnny Cash, Radiohead, Ella Fitzgerald and The Roots on rotation. [Edited for explicit sex acts] Oh, and he needs to be male.

Hey, everybody has to have goals in life.

I think this week's White Collar is not too bad, definitely an improvement from last week, and so far I'm still entertained, but I definitely want Diana and June back, and I want better cases. So far their villains are rather lacking in expertise and intelligence. However I really enjoy the characters' dynamics and that is keeping me going for now.

That's what I am talking about. No sympathy for Viking sex gods pretty young things!

[identity profile] sparky77.livejournal.com 2009-11-09 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
I will see what I can do about getting you a Brad.

I just need to start throwing crack at you. I'm sure we can find something that will stick eventually.

RAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love that icon so much. *pets him*

THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I FEEL ABOUT WHITE COLLAR. Thank you.
*resists the urge to choke the writers for building up expectations with the pilot*

Here they are:

Iron & Wine - The Shepherd's Dog (http://cosmia.org/jam/The Shepherd's Dog.zip);
Iron & Wine - The Creek Drank the Cradle (http://cosmia.org/jam/The Creek Drank the Cradle.zip);
Iron & Wine - Around the Well (http://cosmia.org/jam/Around the Well.zip);
Iron & Wine and Calexico - In The Reins (http://cosmia.org/jam/In The Reins.zip).

[I recommend leaving Around the Well for last, as it's a compilation of his unreleased songs; The Creek Drank the Cradle and The Shepherd's Dog (especially this last one) are much better all-around thought albums.]

I hope you like them!

ETA: Colin Hay played on Daytrotter (http://www.daytrotter.com/dt/colin-hay-concert/20030904-37382032.html) recently, and there are a few songs available for download there.

Tragically, yes.

This sums up entirely how I feel about Glee, thank youf ro the words.

Jezebel, Woman King, Passing Afternoon, and The Trapeze Singer from Iron and Wine, zip. Those're the only four songs I have on this computer, but I don't think they're in the albums already uploaded above, except for Trapeze Singer, maybe.

If we get any likely adopted marines at our Thanksgiving dinner, I will send them your way, though they may be tested for quality control purposes prior to shipping. Extensively tested.

(You should have said so sooner! I could have corralled some off during the Marine Corps Marathon last month!)

RE White Collar: YES! While I did squee about the OT3 scene at the dinner table, the replacement FBI was pretty annoying with her bland acting, especially with the jealousy bit. WC, YOU ARE ON NOTICE. Also, I *so* want Diana back!

Hee! I love that military term.

As for I&W, I love Evening on the Ground (Lilith's Song) and Jezebel (from the album Woman King, Love Vigilantes (from Around The Well) and Naked As We Came (from Our Endless Numbered Days). If you don't have them, tell me! I'll upload them for you as all of my I&W albums are at home. Oh, have you heard I&W and Calexico covering Wild Horses by Rolling Stones? Awesome!

I have some songs uploaded for you to try out here (http://www.box.net/shared/4pn4vtm7q0). Some of the songs are slow ones while others are rock-ishly loud.

Here's more slow songs I had lying in my box net account.
Sia - Academia (http://www.box.net/shared/l3gdj5omuz)
How can you not find lyrics like this awesome?
I’m a binary code that you cracked long ago
But to you I’m just a novel that you wish you’d never wrote

Regina Spektor - Samson (http://www.box.net/shared/p78uezpp31)
You are my sweetest downfall
I loved you first, I loved you first

A Fine Frenzy - Almost Lover (http://www.box.net/shared/2h6ggeyub1)
So long, my luckless romance
My back is turned on you
Should've known you'd bring me heartache
Almost lovers always do

The White Collar fail makes me a bit sad, even though I still look forward to each ep only to be disappointed. >_<

Try yourself some Castle! :D I started watching for the Jon Huertas and stayed for the plot. :D

3. WHERE IS JUNE?!?!? For reals.

4. Hmmm, music... I don't have what you're looking for but I shared some files earlier today so hey, a little copy+paste. Maybe you'll find a thing or two you like.

Alone Again Or by Calexico - a very nice cover; feels smoother and more resigned than the original.

Troubled Days by Bengal Lancer - in this song, Billie Holiday meets Sonic Youth, morphs into Debbie Harry, I fall in love with the drummer sight unseen, the end comes too soon. It's AWESOME.

Tiempo de Solea by Ojos de Brujo - this is hiphop flamenco. It's superhot.

Lie Without a Lover by Robi Rosa - really, really nice bass line. And the boy can growl like nobody's business.

Un Ano de Amor by Luz Casal - the song from this scene. Sublime.

Acid Tongue by Jenny Lewis - sex, drugs, and... acoustic folk. Works quite well.

I see someone has already uploaded 'The Trapeze Swinger', which is my favorite Iron & Wine song. Have a zip with three other great I&W tracks - Each Coming Night, Freedom Hangs Like Heaven and Upward Over The Mountain.

Fire on the Exhale

I totally got the shooting reference! ::is proud::

The idea is that the shows are supposed to get BETTER as you go along, not worse.

Inorite?! ARG!

I approve of these goals! If I had one, I'd send him your way. No, wait. If I had one, I'd keep him for myself, but if I had TWO I'd send one your way. For now I just have cookies.

ETA: Oh, and Diana will be back. Um, someday.

I loved the White Collar pilot but the last episode couldn't even hold my attention for the whole hour. When I realised I was slogging through it solely for the purpose of drooling over Matt Bomer it seemed a bit pointless if I can just watch videos of him on YouTube.

My new music love is Bon Iver, who have an Iron and Wine kind of sound and I would recommend checking out if you haven't already. My favourite songs thus far are Skinny Love, Blood Bank and For Emma.

1. I would read that story in a hot second. Also, I just picked this up. The jury is still out; I think there are probably better books on the subject, but hey, this one was $2.

3. The snark around the table chez Burke was nice in the last episode, idem Matt Bomer's forearms. The rest fills me with great sadness. I mean, Diana clearly trumps Lauren. Also, WHY NO JUNE?!

4. Tell me more about Ella and Louis -- do you mean this CD? Because if so, and if I can figure out how to upload a whole CD (well, two, technically...), I can supply.

As far as the single, straight, hotass Recon Marine goes... Yeah. That would be nice. [/understatement] (There are actually quite a few hotass Marines floating around in these parts; I keep meaning to mount an expedition. I shall report back...)

which is a shooting reference for those who don't spend too much time watching the Military Channel.

I totes knew that from my research into snipers. (See icon.)

My open letter to WC is: More Burn Notice, less Monk.

Hmmmm. Would a retrofitted Sam Anders-model Cylon work? *gets out wrench set and soldering iron*

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2009-11-09 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)

If WC doesn't get much better, you may have to write a story where Neal is actually Bryce in deep deep cover and he has to go save Chuck from more impending doom while wearing snazzy suits and kickin' hats.

Q and I were discussing this in her LJ. I was all for the idea, but felt that this entire thing was Chuck's fault in the first place as he was an unappreciative ass. Adorable, but still. OMG! I have this vision of Chuck sprawled on Bryce/Neal, because he just tried to save his life, which Bryce/Neal finds kind of adorable. Unnecessary, but adorable, and he has to pet Chuck, because well, it's Chuck and Chuck is like a great dane puppy, and his fingers get all tangled in Chuck's hair and Chuck is all happy.

How cute.

Shameful ;-)

Throwing crack at me. Is it new and improved sticky crack? :D

WOW. You are super awesome, thank you so much for sharing and all your work uploading these. That was very kind of you.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2009-11-09 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? I felt like it was worse than last week. Whatever it is, this downward trajectory is not good. I WANT JUNE! Otherwise, I agree 1000% with everything you said. It is not fair to be all awesome in the beginning and then just fall off. This is like a bad dating experience. He tells you he's brilliant and has a place over looking the water. Turns out he's average and has a place overlooking a water tower.

Did you run the MCM? DOOD! I want to run that, how was it? Did you keep getting waylaid by all the hotass? Tell me all! Also, if you get orphaned hotass Marines around your dinner table THINK OF ME! (And send me photos).

Thank you for the music, too, bb.

(Where is my GK fic from you? Don't think I've forgotten).

I do watch Castle, I just don't talk about it b/c my Castle viewing tends to be OMG! WTF! POKE ILU!!! followed by me filing my nails waiting for Jon Huertas to show up on the screen again. Rinse. Repeat.
