Put your money where your mouth is.

1. Dear Pat Roberson,

Take a history lesson. If the Haitians hadn't 'made a deal with the devil' as you so put it, America wouldn't be here today. I understand that the idea of a slave revolt leading to a free nation hurts your soul, but, uh, yeah, NO. Ass.

Big ups to The Haitian Ambassador, Rachel Maddow and [livejournal.com profile] serialkarma

ETA: What The Young Turks Said. Do Not Give Money to Pat Robertson. (thanks [livejournal.com profile] droolfangrrl)

2. I have not been interested in writing anything for sometime and am not sure how long this will continue. However, if you know me then you know I am a big believer in charity, so I have signed up for [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti.

Top bidder will get at least one story of at least 2,500 words. Southland, Generation Kill and Ari-fic are all on offer. Possibly I might be induced to do Ari in Sherlock Holmes RPS. You could get Ben/Cooper, the story of Lydia taking care of her mom and finding a good man, or a Generation Kill story where Nate is the Reporter from Rolling Stone. Maybe I'll finally write the Assassin!Nate story or I'll tackle [livejournal.com profile] sparky77's question as to what happens when Ari finds out that Brad Pitt is supposed to be in Sherlock Holmes 2 with RDJ and Jude. Naturally, that will have George as well.

I am also open for suggestions (no HP though, guys). The more money you spend the louder your voice is heard.

Hi... you don't know me but I've been hitting your page for days on end, hoping you'd come back so I could thank you for all the wonderful time you gave me with your stories since I discovered GK in November... you & a few others are the reason I bought the book (now read), bought One Bullet Away (presently reading) and bought the GK boxset (now on my watch list -- as soon as I'm finished with Fick's book)...

So thank you for this... and your wonderful stories.

Now, for the charity thing... I've never done that so I'll probably sound clueless but how does that work? I'm bringing my checkbook at work tomorrow to give a cheque to one of our firm's lawyers (Haitian) who will bring them to the "Jeune chambre de commerce haitienne" Friday night... The cheque will be for the "Canadian Red Cross - Haiti" and $100 (Canadian dollars)... does that constitute a bid? If so, I guess I post this to the entry you linked above but how would you know the winning bid is actually honoured? I mean I can make the cheque AND a photocopy of it but until I get my official income tax receipt I would have no other proof of its existence...

anyway... I'm just wondering... (must say I'd love to read the Nate is the RS reporter... that could be quite interesting a twist!).

a) Thank you

b) I do not know the answer to your question, so I have passed it along to [livejournal.com profile] pinkinfinity who is moderating [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti.

c) It occurs to me I may have painted myself into a corner with Rolling Stone!Nate as I'm not sure I could deliver that. But, if you are the winning bidder, we can discuss that when the time comes :)

Thanks for your quick reply... and I doubt I would be the winning bidder (I suck at luck) but if I was? I'd love everything of yours (as long as its GK) so you'd have no pressure on that aspect, anyway!

That would definitely count as a bid. A photo of the receipt for the cheque would be ideal, but a copy of the cheque itself would be fine. And you can redact your personal and bank account info by using the smudge tool on MS Paint or the Mac Paint program, to keep your info safe.

THANK YOU!
