Endings, beginnings and taking roll call.

Today's post is about paying "the love" forward. I feel like that doesn't happen enough. We bitch about out fandoms. About writing. About our opinions. About each other and all the times people have peed in our pockets. Today, I want to talk about things I like. Things that make me happy. So, without further ado:

Some People Who I Really Like Talking to/Hearing From/Reading About (Now in alphabetical order mostly!)

[livejournal.com profile] breakthecitysky: I friended you because I really enjoyed the snippets you wrote for S2 Southland and I'm kind of hoping you are keeping some under your mattress for a rainy day. I love your enthusiasm for your family and congratulations on your degree.

[livejournal.com profile] forsweatervests: You are kind and thoughtful and helpful and I always like talking with you. Thank you for that.

[livejournal.com profile] imogenedisease: Your fic reminds me of what I loved about Generation Kill fandom. Your enthusiasm for Walt and Ray is adorable. And I don't like hockey, but I like it when people are really into what they like. Write me some Justified fic, yis?

[livejournal.com profile] lazlet. One word: chocolate. Another word: Eleven. Chocolate-covered Eleven? I think so.

[livejournal.com profile] maurheti: Wherever did you come from? I mean I have some ideas; I did pay attention in sex ed. Whatever. I so enjoy talking to you and picking your brain and how you give things real thought, even when I'm asking inane business. I appreciate you, thank you for being yourself.

[livejournal.com profile] meret: Thank you so much for your daily news link posts. You keep me so informed I find I'm a little scared. But better to have too much information than too little (Seriously, people, if you want to be informed: read her LJ. For real, this 20 Worst Drinks in America is wild. I knew that Rockstar thing had to be bad for you).

[livejournal.com profile] moneyfolder: You do AUs. You provide music. You hate racism. Dude, how could I not appreciate that? U iz awesome!

[livejournal.com profile] no_detective: You are like the ultimate fangirl. Everything you like you are passionate about, but you manage not to bring any negativity to that. That's really fucking awesome. You even made me skim your Adam Lambert post. That's like... huge.

: It should tell you something that I don't even know how to link to a dreamwith account. Um, anyroad. Why, when I friended you, could I not read your journal? That's distressing to me! What's up with that? Because you are awesome and I always like talking to you and I should be able to talk to you more. Somebody fix this!

[livejournal.com profile] scribblinlenore: Like your partner in crime, [livejournal.com profile] no_detective, I love how happy you are in your fandoms. How you are willing to try anything twice. I have no idea how you get me to read your Adam Lambert fic though (I know it's some Jedi voodoo) and I wish you would make it stop.

[livejournal.com profile] tazical: I cannot even think how I came across you. Probably [livejournal.com profile] serialkarma. All I know is that every post from you is a guaranteed adventure. Especially if it's work related. Thank you for bringing your sense of humor with you to work (and managing to keep it).

[livejournal.com profile] the_grynne: Thank you for keeping me informed of everything entertainment related that I need to know, or want to know, or on some occasions really didn't want to know about.

[livejournal.com profile] wordsalone: I just like you. You're kind and thoughtful and helpful, that's a lot these days.

PORN SWAT: I realized a while ago that my GK days are long over, but you made every last one of them enjoyable. Thank you for your time and inspiration and inappropriate jokes. Y'all are awesome. Please go take over the world now so we can get to fixing it.

And last, but never least, to everybody who reads this LJ: Thank you for your time, your help, your invaluable intelligence and music collections. Thank you for your support. I'm glad you like what I do. I hope y'all are interested in visiting Harlan County, Kentucky, because I'm pretty sure that's where we're going next (with obvious stops in Los Angeles to visit with the LAPD).

If not, that's cool too, thanks for stopping by maybe I'll see you around.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2010-05-27 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Since I plan on frequent flights between the LAPD and Harlan County, hopefully we'll be seeing a lot of each other!

Absolutely!

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2010-05-27 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha, I feel like my tagline should be "save the fangirl, save the world!" (Um, I don't even watch that show. It's been a long day.)

Do you know how long it took me to catch that reference? And I *watched* S1 and S2 of that abomination!

[identity profile] scribblinlenore.livejournal.com 2010-05-27 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Awwww, you're a darling! And right back at you, babe. Even when I don't share your fandom, I love your enjoyment. Of course, when I do share your fandom, that's awesome too--yay Southland!

[identity profile] wordsalone.livejournal.com 2010-05-27 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
*blushes*

Thank you. :)

HEE!! And also, awww -- thanks, bb; right back at you! ♥

Furthermore, hell yes, Harlan County! I'll bring the shotgun if you bring the beer...

or on some occasions really didn't want to know about.

:D You're more than welcome, darlin'. You are a true queen among fangirls.

Oh hey, there's me! Shnifty! You're very awesome you know. It makes me sad to hear your GK days are over, but your Southland days are not, so I can cope.

Why when I friended you could I not read your journal? That's distressing to me! ... Somebody fix this!

There are three components to this answer: (OMG I GET TO DO A LIST YAY!!!!)

1! Open ID accounts cannot post on LJ. So if you try to read entries by my OID account, you get an error message telling you there is no such journal.

2! My account on DW is almost entirely flocked, so if you don't have a DW account, and I haven't friended said account, you can't see anything but my one GK fic, and my open letter to my hockey team.

3! If you don't have a DW account and would like one, I have invite codes. If you don't want an actual account, you can OID it up over there for friending and comments.

4! If you'd rather not deal with DW at all (and some people don't want the extra bother, which I get) you can friend my old journal [livejournal.com profile] d_i_, and I will friend you back and all will be well 'cause I crosspost everything except fic, and that's public anyway.

Fixed! Or, anyway, I think that covers how to fix it. I may have missed something. I'm doing that a lot right now. Moving sucks!!!!

[identity profile] no-detective.livejournal.com 2010-05-28 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
I think we (as in: people who watched that show and then just had to STOP to save ourselves) have perhaps been repressing our knowledge of it. I'm not even kidding! At least two people on my f-list could not even remember what was airing on NBC in its slot, even when they were actively trying to figure it out. Full repression!

But hey - it inspired you to write Shia/Milo, which broke my brain in the best way possible, so I hereby declare it was not all bad. ;)

You got me into GK! *sobs* But seeing as how you led me into Southland and now into Justified (RAYLAN, WHY SO HOT?), I'll follow you anywhere, sweetie! :DDD
lazulus: (what's he like?)

[personal profile] lazulus 2010-05-28 06:58 am (UTC)(link)
No you have not! I know nothing about it which obviously means you are failing in your pimpage, mon chéri! I gather that I should dl it stat, yis?

Awww I am truly saddened to hear your GK days are over - because your GK AU fics have always been my favourite, I don't know if I ever told you that since I came to GK fandom a little later in the game. In any case, thank you it really has been such a pleasure to read the worlds you created for Brad/Nate and all the rest.

But I'm super glad to hear you'll be heading over to writing for Justified, (am very excited to see where you head with Brad/Raylan, not gonna lie), and of course sticking with Southland. So I shall definitely continue reading! :)

Yay Southland! \o/

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2010-05-29 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
BEER! And Jim Bean. And a scatter gun. And some flannel. I was at the store today and I almost bought myself a plaid shirt. I had to get a grip. It's the Raylan effect.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2010-05-29 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
You are very kind, thank you :)

I went for option #4 because you gave me options. I LOVE OPTIONS. And you are awesome, just in case that part got lost in all the WTFDONOTWAMT!

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2010-05-29 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
JUSTIFIED, BABY! IT IS THE NEW BLACK!

I mean look at that man *points to icon* How can you not want a piece of that?

And also, you are awesome. You are always helpful and kind and supportive and it is much appreciated :D

Dude. I've been polishing up my cowboy boots, it's completely insane over here. RAYLAN!!

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2010-05-29 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
What a lovely comment, thank you! I am very excited to work with Justified if only so I can wax rhapsodic about the hotassery of Raylan Givens. :)

Since we're dishing out some love, I wanted to take the chance to sincerely THANK YOU for your awesomeness. I'm a lurker, but I wanted to tell you that everything you've written has had an impact on me. Your writing helped get me involved in politics in a big way, introduced me to Generation Kill, and just made me smile.

If that wasn't enough, I need to credit you for not only helping me find my way into my current major (Self-designed languages and culture built around a focus on counterinsurgency), but also for inspiring a scholarship essay that got me a free ride to college.

I'm not on LJ much anymore (hence the dead journal), but I always drop by to see what you have up. Even though you aren't going to be in GK fandom anymore, I just wanted to add my voice to the chorus of people saying that we're glad you were.

[identity profile] sparky77.livejournal.com 2010-05-29 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
Whiskey and shirtless Raylan! Two of my most favorite things.

How do we feel about Raylan/Tim, BTW?

I am awesome even when I can't count apparently. All set. ^_^

It's okay, I don't pay attention to the math portion of the exam. :D
