so, i was saying earlier about that "thing" that you "do" better than anyone. and i dig it, really. i dig it. you write a lot about the way harry & draco live lives that aren't theirs, one way or another, and it's perfectly understandable. because they are made to be representations and over-simplifications and if they were to be human, they'd have to be contradicting themselves all the time.
it seems to be two sides of the same coin-- being all hopeful and giddy and saying, yeay! none of this matters, and you can just cast off expectation and `destiny' and have fun just being yourself... or so your tongue=in-cheek, ironic, sweet happy stories seem to me...
or you can write about how harry or draco are borne down by the weight of expectation and how even together, they're defined by others' perception of them together and separately, and how ultimately what they've been taught is what they have to/want to/will act out, will they nill they.
it's always that same fight against the boundaries, either joyful or resigned. it seems to always be about the walk on the razor edge, between falling and soaring, between laughing and sinking. they can enjoy leaving those bruises, they can ignore the past and wallow in the present, or they can be crushed by the weight of their own self-awareness.
i think in your happier, teasing stories, harry & draco aren't as self-aware, are more spontaneous and unfettered. it's like, if they remember what they're supposed to be, or supposed to be feeling, -really- remember, it'd be like that moment in a cartoon when you've walked off the cliff, and suddenly realize you've been walking on air.
this harry just doesn't realize he could say, the hell with it all, i'll just keep snogging draco and they can go shoot themselves if they want~:)
