A figment of your imagination
There is no spider in the living room.
I am not as sick as a dog.
I’m not writing Everwood drabble for
taraljc cos she’s into the Colin/ Ephram thing like the rest of us junkies. But if y‘all can get her to see the light, that’d be dead cool. I’m just saying.
Everwood
Another Life
Colin has another life. Another life that’s not full of girls and homecoming courts and basketball games he can’t participate in. In this other place the car doors are always unlocked, and even when he bashes in the window, bare-handed, Colin doesn't feel any pain. Colin isn’t the most popular guy in school; as a matter of fact most people don't even know his name.
It’s nice.
Colin Hart is just boy in his teacher’s grade book, and his friends can all be counted on one hand, his right hand. A right hand that works. In this other life Colin doesn’t live in Everwood, Colorado, he lives in New York or California. He goes surfing after school, and sometimes he stops by the local comic book shop where he's just another geek.
Yeah, that’s right.
In this other life Colin is a huge comic book geek, and he’s got first editions all over his walls. He likes Batman the best because the Dark Knight is an orphan, and more than anything right now, Colin wishes he belonged to someone else.
Colin’s parents do nothing but bring him down.
They don’t understand that they’re pushing too hard. They don’t understand that he’s not the little boy they raised. All he remembers are trashchutes, and he's Colin Aaron Hart in name only. But maybe, in this other life, he goes by something else too. Colin doesn’t even think of himself as a Colin. He’s more of a Jesse or a Jake.
And in this other life, he’s a good student who can remember the definition of gerrymandering - which has something to do with unfair divison of districts. His favorite class is Science because he dreams of being a doctor, and he studies hard, sometimes too much. In one class he’s so far ahead that he spends all his time doing nothing at all. Sometimes there are nights that he falls asleep with his head in his books, because he’s just that smart and he wants to know it all.
In this other life Colin can remember enough to know it all.
In this amazing place that Colin has yet to find, he doesn’t know guys named Bright. Point in fact, he’s never had a letterman jacket, and his idea of sport is bike riding at night. He doesn’t know girls named Amy who pull on him as though he owes them something. Actually he doesn’t like girls at all.
Colin doesn’t know much, but he knows that for certain.
He doesn’t have ideas of good and bad or right and wrong. He doesn’t know that homosexuality is supposedly a bad thing. See, in this other life, Colin is gay and that’s all right too.
He has a boyfriend, and his name is Ephram Brown. He has brilliant greenish-gray eyes and hair he likes to dye strange colors. Ephram wears sweatshirts from places Colin’s never gone, but Ephram promises that they’ll go together sometime. And the best thing about this other life is that Ephram likes Colin just the way he is, and he doesn’t expect him to be anybody he’s not.
Really, it’s a good life all in all.

It's as simple as insanity, really. It's a lot of voices at one time, all wanting to be heard, but I am glad if you enjoy it. :)
