Just your friendly neighborhood pimp

So, [livejournal.com profile] ethrosdemon made this post about people who friended her and then never said jack shit, and then she and I were talking about that, and I was like ‘Dude, I’ve got that happening, too. Why is that? Is my rep that bad? I paid a lot of money to have my record expunged, you know. If my lawyer isn't doing his job, I want to know so I can sack him.’

So, yeah.

I’m not trying to hate on anybody who’s just here for the fic, I mean that’s pretty much all that’s here anyway. If you're looking for somebody to get all personal, you should probably go elsewhere simply because that's not my thing. This LJ is just about me writing what the hell I want, when I want, but I’m dead curious why y'all are reading this and what kind of fic y’all are after. Are you working for Simon & Schuster? Are you about to give me a book deal, or better yet are you from DC Comics because I can give you some mad comic ideas? What’s your story? (I like stories, hook me up, don't salt my game.)

Random notes: Jeff Buckley is my musical hero. Seth is my sartorial twin, but I share a brain with both he and Lex. I would like to own a marginal percentage of Shady and/or Lost Highway Records. I prefer Green Park, the Northern Line and I support LFC.

i'm here because [livejournal.com profile] phineasjones kept rec'ing everything you wrote of the HP variety so i figured i'd save her the trouble and catch everything on my own.

which makes it painfully obvious that i haven't left a shred of feedback and now i feel quite like a goon, but perhaps this post will remind me of why i heart fandom so much and, also, that i need to feedback my favorite authors.

yes.

hi.

[identity profile] illiterate.livejournal.com 2003-09-07 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I have no idea, man. I think I friended you because I like your writing and then I stuck around because you say stuff that I find interesting. I'm not sure. Generally I go on random friending kicks and just friend left and right for a while. So, um, I guess you could say I'm just a friendly neighborhood shady character. Watch out, I'll flash your children.

Okay, see? Don't you wih you'd never asked? I think people often feel that way with me. Life's a country song, and I need to lay off the Aqua late at night.

[identity profile] nifra-idril.livejournal.com 2003-09-07 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
My story? No, you don't want that. It's very long and includes burning sneakers and much snark. *G* But hey - guess what? A lot of Jeff Buckley, too because *god* that guy was/is amazing. "Lover You Should've Come Over" is probably one of my favorite songs, pretty much...ever.

Also - yeah, you really, really *do* share a brain with Lex. Your fic = amazing. Like, muchly. And I don't say much because I'm busy worshipping you from afar and saying stuff totally screws with the whole "from afar" aspect of my worship. *G* But, you know, for variety, thought I'd pop my head in. *pops head in, looks around, waves*

Actually, I generally don't comment on much because my internet is really slow and I'm very impatient. But it's gotten fixed, and I am now starting to break the no-comment-y habit I've become stuck in. You know, one day at a time and the like...*G*

[identity profile] serabut.livejournal.com 2003-09-07 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I like what you write, and how you write them, and.... I'm a dedicated lurker=no feedback.

*sheepish wave*

[identity profile] wickedcherub.livejournal.com 2003-09-07 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude. I've got people like that, and I don't even write fic. Or provide pretty. Or write kick ass McWord Meta Essays. I'm not even snarky or amusing.

It is beyond me why people would friend me and not say a word. Not even a 'hi! pls friend me bak, k thx bai' and I don't know where they come from. Maybe I've just got cool people on my friends list, and therefore I'm cool by association. :)

In answer to your question, I pretty much read everything you write unless I have no idea what the canon is about. No idea if The OC will ever air in Australia, ditto Everwood etc. And you've really got to explain this Warrior Angel thing. :)

But if I had to have a preference, I've always loved your HP stuff.

Also, I think people are scared of you. You know, those fangs you've got can be pretty intimidating. Maybe you should start cultivating minions or something.

[identity profile] rihani.livejournal.com 2003-09-07 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, I added you...a while ago, I don't even remember when. lol. I've feedbacked your fics a number of times, but not lately because I'm a horrible slacker. ;) I also actually read the non-fic stuff too, I'm just really bad about responding to anything lately.

And I worship Jeff Buckley. Yay for someone else who has similar feelings about his music. :)

[identity profile] dolimir-k.livejournal.com 2003-09-07 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Why am I here?

I heard there were cookies. *g*

Actually, I enjoy your writing. Now, I don't read all the different fandoms you write in, but the ones I read I enjoy. *g*

I also like reading LJs of other writers, their trials and tribulations, etc.

I've been lurking a lot lately because my meds don't seem to be working and I'm crankier than hell.

But I can be pacified by cookies. *g*

[identity profile] ethrosdemon.livejournal.com 2003-09-07 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Feel the Jeff Buckley. Love him. Worship him. It's all about Jeff, even if I write hip hop slash. Don't get up on my shit.

[identity profile] happyminion.livejournal.com 2003-09-07 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I read you because I'm in the O.C., bitch. What else is there to do down here for entertainment? *g*

Seriously, you know why I'm here, you know that you're my favorite baby girl, and you know that I'm dreadfully behind on your OC offerings since you returned from hiatus, right? Smack my hand, go ahead.

Also, I was telling Andy the other night, while we were both gushing over the joy of having you in the OC fandom, that I've always loved your on the edge Lex, but when I saw Seth and listened to how his wee little brain works I thought, Zahra had *better* take a shine to this show, because this is what she's been warming up for, all this time.

So yay! I'm here, going nowhere, still adoring you. *smooch*

Let's see. My fandoms are:
1. Buffy - check
2. Smallville -check
3. HP - check
4. X-men - check
5. Pirates - Don't think you did...yet
6. OC - check

And you wonder why I read. *g*

I don't work for S&S -- I work for Tor Books. Can I keep reading anyway? You write the best Everwood fic there is, and I'm a junky...

[identity profile] serialkarma.livejournal.com 2003-09-07 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude, people friend me every time I write porn. That's why I do it, don't you know? It's all a giant plot to get more lj friends.
Next up I'm going to write an epic PWP (is that an oxymoron?) involving Seth, Clark, Lex, Draco, Harry, Neville, Ephram, that hot guy from Hardcore Logo, Dom, Elijah, Hugh Jackman, Alan Cumming, and possibly Spike from Cowboy Bebop. Just you wait. It's gonna rock.

I don't know if I've ever commented on your journal, and I've had you friended for quite a while.

I have over 170 people on my friends list, whom I read daily and don't even put under a filter. I don't have time to comment on a lot of people's entries.

I friend people mostly because, quite simply, I find them interesting for one reason or another. I like they way they meta, I like the way the write, or I like their vids. Or some combination of the three. Or hell, maybe I just found something they said funny.

I like your Harry Potter fic, your Smallville fic, your Everwood fic, your X-Men fic, your the O.C. fic, your Ocean's Eleven fic, and I probably like any other fandom I've forgotten you did. I'm not big on RPS, but it's one of the only fandoms I don't do (in practically all of fandom, actually - I'm rather a whore that way), but then it's just easy to skim over the post and keep on going up the FL.

Quite frankly, yeah, I hang out and lurk because I find you interesting and because I enjoy your writing. And it's handier to have you on my FL than trust people to rec or to actually check out your journal.

I hope that answered your question and that I haven't offended you in some way by being a rather shy, timid, awkward little lurker. I'm going to go crawl back into my little hidey-hole now. *s*

[identity profile] quixotic-sense.livejournal.com 2003-09-07 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I friended you because you write good Harry Potter and Smallville fics. That's all. Though, hey, I wouldn't mind if you occasionally write about your life too. *g*

[identity profile] wickedcherub.livejournal.com 2003-09-07 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh. Do that, and I am *so* friending you.

I'd also consider adding Spike from Buffy. He's always a huge drawcard. :)

[identity profile] semisuper.livejournal.com 2003-09-07 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I am your broken record. I intend to encourage, enable, and pimp any and all fic written by your corner of the fandom, whichever fandom it may be. *nods* Yes. that will be my job.

[identity profile] libralyte.livejournal.com 2003-09-07 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
i friended you because i really enjoyed your bobby/st. john stuff, and wanted to be able to keep up with it. also, i recently got hooked on clex, although i don't watch smallville, and i've been planning on going back and reading your smallville stuff, although i haven't really had a chance to do it yet. i also hear you're writing oc stuff? that's groovy :) so, if you keep writing, i'll keep reading. and generally when i enjoy a story, i do post comments, so i imagine (if i ever get around to it) you'll start seeing me pop up on your smallville fic posts :)

[identity profile] serialkarma.livejournal.com 2003-09-07 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd also consider adding Spike from Buffy. He's always a huge drawcard.

Ah, but see, it might get confusing with Spike from Cowboy Bebop. Can't have that.

*goes off to sleepplot*

I would just like to say that your icon? Is amazing. That is all.

[identity profile] pennyproud.livejournal.com 2003-09-07 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I am here because [livejournal.com profile] ethrosdemon said if I friended you, she would put out.

It hasn't happened yet, but I'm glad I did anyway :P

[identity profile] musesfool.livejournal.com 2003-09-07 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude, I'm here hoping you'll write more Remus/Sirius. Or Harry/Neville. Or Lex/Oreos. Whichever. *g*

[identity profile] wickedcherub.livejournal.com 2003-09-07 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm.. well, if it's an epic PWP, you could just refer to them as the Peroxided Man, and the sharply drawn black haired man. It would make for really smoothly written sex scenes, I swear.

[identity profile] libralyte.livejournal.com 2003-09-07 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
*beams* thank you! you're actually the first person who's complimented me on it, and i've had it for months. it comes from this amazing page of zodiac body art. unfortunately, the site is in frames, and it's in a foreign language, so i have no idea how to take off the frames option to link you directly to the images. but, the magazine is here (http://www.zijaanzij.nl/). and then along the left side of the page, there are a bunch of pink boxes. click on "e-zine", and then "horoscoop", and that should bring you right there. there are thumbnails of the pictures that you can click on to get a larger image. if you think mine's nice, wait until you see the other pics :)

Dude. I've got people like that, and I don't even write fic. Or provide pretty. Or write kick ass McWord Meta Essays. I'm not even snarky or amusing.

Speaking as a person "like that", everyone whose journals I subscribe to interests me, even if they're not necessarily of BNF stature, and boy, does that sound inflated, or what..

It is beyond me why people would friend me and not say a word. Not even a 'hi! pls friend me bak, k thx bai' and I don't know where they come from.
On occassion, I do make those kind of awkward hello posts. Sometimes I'm "friended" and sometimes I'm not. I don't take it personally (anymore) because I understand that people have their own standards of cool, or whatever it is, and anyone can't make everyone's bar sometimes.

Maybe I've just got cool people on my friends list, and therefore I'm cool by association.

I know I add people who are friends of friends, especially if their journals mentions my friends a lot even if we aren't friends or won't be anytime soon.

The persons who've friended me back, especially the persons I actually talk to via chat or email or RL -all outside of lj- have priority for comments, and I don't even have the time to make priority comments most times, so those who haven't friended me back don't even register on the radar. Besides, it's not like you need my comment. (insert -whomever- for 'you') You've got friends of your own, and avid readers, too, most likely. This is usually the scenario for authors with a huge "friends of" list.

Just my two cents.

As a direct aside to hackthis: I think you've found your one true fandom in The OC.

Maybe it's because I have gaps of having missed reading some of the fandoms that you've done, but it seems like whatever the fuck *it* is, you've honed it, and it shows.

Like everyone else - I'm here for the fic. I added you when I found your HP stuff. I've since learned you have some excellent Angel fic out as well. I'm hoping you'll write some more HP - Harry/Neville perhaps?!
