I'm intensely afraid of heights, and as a way of trying to overcome that, have done insanely stupid things, like jumping off a roof and fracturing both ankles. ;-)

Chautauqua (http://www.ciweb.org). Best place ever. I found god there, while wading in this ravine at four o'clock in the afternoon; the sun was shining through the leaves and onto the water, and the bugs were glowing from it, and it was just the most beautiful moment of my entire life.

I want to lecture there, have book signings and readings there. I want to be married there. When I die, I want to be cremated and have my ashes spread out over the lake.

Well, I'm procrastinating and skipping my Classical Mythology lecture today, anyway, and I have a fun story, so!

The first time I got kissed was in 6th grade. I was in the play The Wizard of Oz at the art center in Chicago, and I'd been "dating" this boy named Mike for a couple weeks. He was playing the Tinman, I was playing the Scarecrow.

We were walking up the stairs to get into the wings, because I had to go on and sing one of my stupid little songs in like two minutes, and the stairs were all dark and cobwebby, and right when we got to the top, he just leaned over and kissed me.

I went totally nonverbal and froze up, because I couldn't fucking believe that just happened. The stage manager had to push me out onto the stage, and since Mike was playing the fucking Tinman, I went onstage with a ton of silver facepaint smeared all over my lips and chin instead of the yellow stuff that I was supposed to be wearing.

It's fun, because it's like Wizard of Oz slash, but it's not really.

Lack of a social life in high school forced me to build a 42 foot long working roller coaster in my backyard. (Amazingly, as a testament to my apparently hidden engineering skills, no one was ever hurt careening down the track.)

My favorite book: Stephen King's It. I love the magic of friendship and the power of belief, the Losers who save the world, and best of all, King gets it that clowns are evil, yo.

My favorite kind of sneaker: Nike. I was just raised on them, played sports in them, am still loyal to this day. They love and support my flat feet and weak ankles.

The first person I kissed: Cody. He was sixteen, I was thirteen, my daddy may have had his first heart attack when he realized we were a thing. Anyway, yeah. He tasted like Dr. Pepper, which I hate, but he kissed gooooood.

My favorite city: Baltimore. Followed closely by LA, believe it or not. Navigation friendly streets and things I like to do go a long way towards making me happy in a strange city.

i like to think i have good taste in music for someone my age (16). this would mainly be because i have 3 older sisters, and i went through my little phase of trying to be just like them. im quite glad i did. now i can appreciate pieces of music my classmates would think are utter crap. it makes me feel good.

Are you into DIY? I am, I'm rabid about DIY projects that I want to do and can't get the money together to begin. I watch far too many TLC shows than can be healthy for me and in a dream world, Vern Yip would arrive on my doorstep and tell me he wants to remodel my entire apartment free of charge.

I feel like playing, but I'm not coming up with terribly fascinating things to tell you at the moment, so instead, I'll tell you what's on the mantel over the fireplace in my bedroom:
