Reports of my demise were slightly off the mark,
I am not dead (WTF! if you said I was; nevermind, if you didn't notice) -- I'm just v v busy. If I missed something important, lemme know, because I'm not checking back over four weeks of LJ.
In other news, I managed to get my smarmy paws on a copy of Brokeback Mountain which was not terribly easy as it's not being published anymore, full stop. (Yes, that's the gay cowboy story) And I have to say that considering it checks in at a whopping 58 pages long there's a whole lot of room for interpretation.
Did I mention that said book is travel-sized, the font is at least 14 pt, and I read it in 90 minutes?
Yeah, so, um, I can't wait to see the movie. I think. If it's true to the text then 'yay, we get smut' - but while I was reading the story I kept thinking 'dude, it's like a short fan fic,' -- only not quite as well written. The entire thing was published in The New Yorker at some point, I believe, and there was some beautiful imagery and I'm not even an imagery girl. So, if you can get a copy you should, but don't, like, wear yourself out or anything. Go read The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay instead.
