I have to buy a new hoover. People, help me out. What kind of vacuums have you got? How well do they work? What do you recommend?

ETN: How does one lose Wales?!* To quote Bricktop: How could you lose him, he's not a set of car keys. It's not like he's incon-fucking-spicuous.

No advice at all, as thatis my husband's department.

Just to say, don't you find it interesting that you are after a Hoover, which is a brand name, but almost certianly won't buy one of theirs.

I wonder how much tha tpisses them off? They have the word, but not the sales!

I have yet to buy a good one! *grump* I seem to pick the worst one in the shop - every fucking time.

They've all been those upright ones though, and my mum swears by her Henry, but I don't know if they have those over there.

I've got a Miele S314 (I think ). It's kind of expensive but I normally hate vacuuming and with this one I really don't mind it that much. It has a hepa filter and everything on it still works (including the retracting cord) after three years.

My parents got a Dyson a couple months ago and absolutely love it. I mean, ridiculous amounts. I got multiple demonstrations of its coolness when I was home last month. They've been looking for a good vacuum for years, now, and they're finally satisfied. While I'm not entirely ready to spend $350-$400 for a vacuum myself, when I am, I was impressed enough that it will be a Dyson. For what that's worth.

We just bought a dirt devil upright. I've used it once and after I figured out how to turn it on, it seemed fine. My husband's the wife in this family.

Good luck finding something that sucks.

I hear that RayK sucks really well. Damn good, in fact. His mouth is the fucking prototype for Hoover.

*cough*

Quoting Eddie *and* Snatch in the same post? Lord, is there any reason for me not to adore you?

I gave up on regular vacuums after my Bissel caught on fire and burned a hole in my rug...and I just bought a shop vac. You can get the carpet attachment and they'll suck up ANYTHING.

Wow. Poor Wales. I bet Prince Charles is mad.

And you know what, actually being in Wales makes it all the more shocking. I was in Cardiff today and the local news was interviewing a shopkeeper about the whole thing. People are a little ticked.
