After all the House love from the other day I decided that I needed to see what the fuss was for myself. When I'm being told that I'm just like a main character I get curious, so I got hold of some tapes and watched two episodes with a friend who's been after me to see it for weeks.

I should note here that I didn't get to see the pilot until after I watched an episode. The episode in question was the one with the redheaded kid from Spy Kids. All commentary is mine unless otherwise stated.

5 min in: Hmm. Not impressed.
6 min: Why didn't anyone tell me that Massive Attack's 'Teardrop' was the theme?!
10 min in: Huh. So that's Dr House.
15 min: Dude, that Australian guy is hot.
17 min: Is that the crazy, blind guy from Carnivale? I love him!
20 min in: The spaghetti theory? WTF!

hackthis: What's House keep taking?
Friend: Vicodin
hackthis: That many? And they're just *letting* him?
Frinend: Yeah.
hackthis: Huh.
Friend: This episode kinda sucks.
hackthis: It's really graphic though -- I like it.

30 min in: Dude, is that Neil Perry? I love Dead Poets Society!
31 min in (note to self): House and Neil Perry are SO doing it.

40 min in: Meh. It was okay. Not enough House, but Omar Epps = yay!

Then we watched the pilot

2 min in:

Friend: Uh, is this the right show?
hackthis: Why are you asking me?! It's not like I've seen it before!
Friend: I just -- I'd never seen this opening before.
hackthis: You're not helping here.

5 min in: Is that the chick from The Craft? I hated that movie.
7 min in: That girl resident has got the hots for House. I'd put money on it.
10 min in: Neil Perry and House are *definitely* doing it.

15 min: Oh. House, you are a smug fucker. I like you.

20 min: That female administrator has got the hots for House too.
22 min: The female admin is annoying as hell. But hot. Nice suit.
25 min: How can you not love a doctor who pockets the vicodin and gives the patient candy!

35 min in: This show is going to turn its entire viewing audience into hypochondriacs!

45 min in:

Friend: So?
hackthis: It's crack! I love House
Friend: I told you you'd identify with House
hackthis: You guys see me as a crotchety 40-something Englishman-pretending-to-be-American, pill-popper. Wow. Thanks
Friend: Don't mention it.

was a few weeks ago. I forget the patient of the episode, but House had Monster Truck tickets and Dr. Wilson lied about why he couldn't go and House was all cute-hurt feelings.

I only watch because they are totally MFEO, and I'm waiting for a hook-up (well, that, and Hugh Laurie is such an adorable grump and the Aussie doctor is cute and I even don't hate Dr. Cameron).

Heh, that's how I got sucked in, too. First time around? Not very impressed. But the more you watch, the more you like it and before you know it, you're hooked. Plus, the Australian kid really is hot. :)
