Blah blah blah blah give me porn blah blah blah

And lo, this casting spoiler for X-3 was publicised and the baby [livejournal.com profile] hackthis did cry and lament and rend Matthew Vaughn limb from limb for fucking me over. We hateses him.

Also, Happy Anniversary to me as I missed my three year LJ anniversary while in the throws of Trade hysteria. It's so strange for me to have the story be over as I was working on it for so long, and now there's really nothing else I want to write. It's a strange sort of quiet in my brain without the story percolating and writing itself. I feel bereft! I need distraction! Music, toys, pron, reccs, naked men doing the tango, or hey, BOY KISSING is always good.

Otherwise, I feel very uninspired; perhaps I need a new toy, as all my other toys have been discarded.

With that in mind, [livejournal.com profile] ethrosdemon has decided I need to see the new Dr Who, even though I never watched the old Dr Who and find myself incredibly sceptical and not planning to like it at all. If I am wrong, well, then I'll be wrong. At least I'll have my most beloved Spooks/Mi-5 to comfort me. I am also trying to figure out what all this Stargate: Atlantis hoopla is, so I've read the [livejournal.com profile] crack_van overview and am reading a few stories. No twinges yet, but we shall see.

I am an old skool Star Wars fan, and I want to be so excited about Revenge of the Sith*, but man, George Lucas has fucked me without lube one too many times, and I just -- I'm too wary. I don't even have a ticket for the film yet.

I am knackered. I need a holiday.

*I do give him credit for finally getting 'Revenge' in one of his movie titles as all the Star Wars geeks know that Return of the Jedi was originally Revenge of the Jedi and all memorabilia to that effect is as valuable as photographic evidence of Tom Cruise being gay.

Adoring the new Dr Who, I've pimped it to Caro [livejournal.com profile] barely_bean and am in the process of supplying time-lord crack to her door. I defy you NOT to love this show.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-05-18 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, well, I'm real good at defying. No doubt about that ;)

[identity profile] plumtastic.livejournal.com 2005-05-18 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, SGA is tempting me. Mostly because SK's reading it, thus it must have bright spots.

Also, movie rec: Revengers Tragedy. So freaking good. It's up there with Disco Pigs as my most favourite cracked Brit films ever.

Does this mean you're my minion? What does a girl have to do to get minions around here anyway? Also, "minion" was my radio station's word of the day. I love my radio station.

Well, why do you think *I'm* trying to get into it? Because I'm just so enamoured of some show I don't know anything about?! Feh. *knocks on H's skull* Hello? Anybody home?

[identity profile] serialkarma.livejournal.com 2005-05-18 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
*knocks on H's skull* Hello? Anybody home?

I'm sorry, didn't you see the sign? It's got really big letters that say: CLOSED DUE TO EMERGENCY. SEND CAFFEINE AND SMART, NAKED MEN.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-05-18 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait. I want a sign like that.

[identity profile] plumtastic.livejournal.com 2005-05-18 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
The jail is generating hot guys (who aren't inmates!). I'm distracted.

I'm the perpetual minion, but I became your minion AGES ago.

[identity profile] serialkarma.livejournal.com 2005-05-18 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Good luck with Dr. Who. I've never been able to get into it, despite being a classic sci-fi geek (that's classic comma sci-fi, not "classic sci-fi". Er. although some of that too).

As for SGA, [livejournal.com profile] makesmewannadie just posted a collection of some of the best out there here. The one with the gay penguin sex made me laugh till I cried, seriously. And I don't know if that goes under Aliens Make Them Have Sex or not, in case you were wondering.

Also Yay!Star Wars!

[identity profile] literaryll.livejournal.com 2005-05-18 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Geogre Lucas has fucked me without lube one too many times - LOL what a perfect way to describe what watching Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones felt like.

[identity profile] literaryll.livejournal.com 2005-05-18 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait was that Ewan McGregor/Hayden Christensen kiss on this entry before?!! I swear it wasn't the first time I read it. God thank you so much for putting link to it. Made my day. YUM *_*

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-05-18 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
*laughs*

I found it about five minutes after I put the entry together and felt it was important to share. I'm all about the sharing.

[identity profile] phaballa.livejournal.com 2005-05-18 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Stargate frightens me in all its various incarnations. I didn't realize anyone could make hoopla over it, but now that I do I'm even more frightened.

I sincerely hope Tom Cruise is actually gay. Because I know Katie Holmes from back in the day, when we were in dance company together, and the idea of her dating Tom Cruise freaks me out. We probably discussed his hotness on many occasions, and now she's dating him. But I maintain that she's a virgin. I know her family, they're very Catholic, so if anything her being with Tom Cruise is the perfect cover for both of them.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-05-18 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I've never seem Stargate in any carnation myself. For all my sci-fi fascination, I don't tend to watch a lot. As for Mr Cruise being gay, well, I don't have first hand knowledge, but I have a lot of second and third-hand knowledge.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-05-18 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Sigh. That would be 'seen' not 'seem.'

[identity profile] phaballa.livejournal.com 2005-05-18 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I saw the original Stargate movie and was fascinated/horrified by it. Then I got distracted by Seaquest, because I was 12 and Jonathan Brandies was my favorite actor.

Second and third hand knowledge sounds promising. Although if he is gay, Nicole Kidman was totally wasted on him for several years.

[identity profile] silk-knickers.livejournal.com 2005-05-18 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, that X3 casting spoiler truly is godawful, but the person they're casting for Kitty Pryde might not be so bad (my opinion of that actress has taken a huge upswing after this past TV season, compared to her performance in another genre show, in the past.)

I think I'm going to wait a few weeks on the Star Wars thing. Let the die hard fans work it out of their systems. I was pretty excited leading up to the release of Phantom Menace and then so disappointed with what it actually was (hey... let's have a race scene so we can spin off video games!)

[identity profile] rozza.livejournal.com 2005-05-18 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I've never been able to get into Stargate in any of its incarnations. This is difficult, as my boyfriend adores SG in all of its forms. The only reason I put up with it is because on Fridays, Battlestar Galactica is after SG and SGA. Save the best for last!

I'm seeing RotS tonight. I'm just too excited to be wary, even though I know I should feel that way. The new Tim Zahn book about Mara Jade pushed me over the edge.

[identity profile] fearlessdiva.livejournal.com 2005-05-18 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm so ambivalent about ROTS; on the one hand, I too anticipate the patented Lucas Buggery-Without-Lube phenomenon. But long fight between Obi-Wan and Anakin . . . I don't have a ticket yet either, and I'm not sure when I'll go to see it, but definitely no later than Memorial Day weekend, which I'll be spending with a bunch of other traumatised geeks.

I'm very nervous about X3 as well. I really loved the first two movies, for all that they weren't flawless. It's hard to believe that a third one is going to be any good, but at least Alan's in it.

I am ALL ABOUT the new Dr. Who. (points to icon) I can send you a disk of the avis of eps 1-8. I even wrote two short fics, which I shouldn't have. But, you know, that doesn't mean that you're going to like it.

[identity profile] yavannauk.livejournal.com 2005-05-18 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, yes watch the new Dr Who! I love it! You really don't need to have seen any of the previous incarnations as it can easily be watched as a stand-alone series. And they give you as much exposition as you need on previous canon.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-05-18 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh huh. I will be holding you to this, you understand that, right?

I don't have to, like, sign anything in blood or stuff, do I? *cowers*

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-05-19 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Now now, it won't hurt at all. *pricks with quill and grins toothily* Just a drop you understand, for insurance purposes.

NO! That X3 casting information just ruined my day. Week. Life. That's just awful, awful casting. Ugh.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-05-18 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I feel your pain.

[identity profile] grey-bard.livejournal.com 2005-05-18 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
SGA... Well, imagine if you took all those cool secondary characters that you usually see on a sci fi show - the ones that never get enough screentime - and gave them their own show.

Their own show, in a galaxy far far away, where the aliens want to eat them. Not fight them, not enslave them, just, you know. Eat them. It sort of ups the stakes.

They try really hard and do a lot of incredible stuff, but heroism isn't their default setting and it shows. Doing The Brave Right Thing takes effort, and sometimes they screw up and people die for it.

Aside from the Attractive Locals, all of the characters are scientists or soldiers, so with a cast that large the writers have to give them actual personalities instead of stereotypes. Thus, the scientists don't all wear glasses and yell "Don't shoot the natives that want to kill us!", because if 50% of the cast did that, it would get boring. And for the same reason the soldiers have more personality than "I shoot things and/or make wisecracks".

The characters have more in common with your third grade teacher than they do with Aragorn, and I just find it very charming.

Also, one of the lead characters looks and acts just *exactly* like some unholy cross between the best parts of Avon and Vila. I kid you not.

[identity profile] grey-bard.livejournal.com 2005-05-18 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
The most famous and controversial fic in the fandom is "Transcendental". A lot of people didn't like it, but it pimped in new fans like nobody's business. It sure pimped me in!

So, if you're looking for something ruthless and plotty and full of teeth, here it is.

Ah. Sorry. Paleo-fandom reference. Was referring to characters from Blake's Seven. Forget that last line, then.

I clicked on that casting spoiler and immediately shrieked, "What?!" so loud that I think I scared some tourists on the street.

I...am speechless.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-05-18 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I am horrified.

I actually have the same image linked it in my post, but I assure you it did cheer me up greatly, thank you :)

I'm trying to pretend I didn't see that casting spoiler because-- it's just-- *is rendered speechless*

Check out the pictures here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/oxoniensis/134062.html), and think about checking out this as a new fandom (well, new TV show - the fandom's a bit, um, scary!) And yes, the caption "Never underestimate the size of my cojones!" is the line that's being spoken in the third and fourth cap.

Us too--the hubby and me. We haven't even bought tickets. For the last two films, we took the day off work to see them. We felt betrayed. Still, it feels strange to be so casual about a Star Wars film.

George Lucas has fucked me without lube one too many times,

This is so glorious I'm quoting it.

I don't even know X-Men and that casting choice scared me.

Oh, and music you ask? I have music here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/kismeteve/145187.html#cutid1) and here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/kismeteve/148265.html#cutid1).

I join you in the WTF about the X3 casting spoiler. Just, wrong.

And mmm, Spooks/MI-5.
