Put me in the car... and drive so far...

Why did I not know that Ewan McGregor plays the guitar? I Jamie Ryan plays the guitar! Viggo plays the guitar. This is the bestest bonding item EVAH!

::cradles clip from Long Way Round*::

Why is this not available on DVD? Whyfor am I being cockblocked?! The baby Vader did weep.

*Uh, is the book any good?

The DVD is available in the UK which frusterated me to no end as it was the most perfect Christmas present ever for one of my friends, but nooo.

They could make a movie together.. where they're a band.

Or it could be a big gay remake of the Fabulous Baker Boys where Ewan and Viggo are the Boys and Ryan is Michelle Pfeiffer character.

Or I am on crack.

What a coincidence - I'm about 60 pages away from the end of the book. I enjoyed it a lot and thought it was a fast read. I didn't ever see the show (you'd think it would be on dvd already, wouldn't you) but I was surprised by how honest they seem to be (especially when they're kind of mean/rude to each other or the crew). Although I guess if it's been recorded they wouldn't really be able to lie about it in the book.

Anyway - good book, highly recommend it, going to be loaning it to everyone I know.

I'm still bitter that they didn't release DVDs in the US. All I can think about is extra footage!!!

You could ask [livejournal.com profile] issaro about the book. I gave it to her for Christmas.

The book is amusing enough. It's mostly just diary bits transcribed and some of it seems to be taken directly from the video footage. But I liked it because they talked about some things that weren't shown in the doc footage and gave background for some of the situations that happened in the doc.

Why do you torment me by finding all the good stuff I was going to share with you before I can actually share it with you?

The book is OK, but nothing compared to the great fun of the actual mini-series.

Um, lurker *pops out of woodwork*. Hanging around for the RPS Fell into this post completely accidentally. I just thought it should be pointed out, perhaps for future source material *g*, that the Long Way Round book mentions that Ewan/Ryan movie Stay a couple times in passing in the first chapter--

Charley's talking about Ewan's work schedule: "After Star Wars, Ewan flew to New York to shoot Stay, working his arse off on his third back-to-back film to justify taking most of the next year off. Ewan had taken only eight days off in the previous twelve months and, with only a short while to go before his planned career break, Ewan's family and agents, who had originally thought our scheme was no more than the idle fantasy of a man yearning for some relief from a highly pressured career, were starting to take the trip seriously...Ewan had lined the inside of his trailer on the Stay set in New York with maps of the countries we hoped to pass through and was meticulously planning his journey."
