Put me in the car... and drive so far...

Why did I not know that Ewan McGregor plays the guitar? I Jamie Ryan plays the guitar! Viggo plays the guitar. This is the bestest bonding item EVAH!

::cradles clip from Long Way Round*::

Why is this not available on DVD? Whyfor am I being cockblocked?! The baby Vader did weep.

*Uh, is the book any good?

The DVD is available in the UK which frusterated me to no end as it was the most perfect Christmas present ever for one of my friends, but nooo.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-06-21 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
I NEED this! Do these idiots not understand? WTF! I am a Slytherin. I will keel you!

[identity profile] speshope.livejournal.com 2005-06-21 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Seriously. They showed it on Bravo! In the US. Why is there not DVD in the US? Their sense making skills are broken.

[identity profile] sleepypawn.livejournal.com 2005-06-21 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
Region-free DVD players are awe-some!

I bought my copy when I was in London earlier this month and it works in my Mum's computer. In addition on Sky, they aired seven episodes instead of the six that were aired in the US.

They could make a movie together.. where they're a band.

Or it could be a big gay remake of the Fabulous Baker Boys where Ewan and Viggo are the Boys and Ryan is Michelle Pfeiffer character.

Or I am on crack.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I have never seen this movie, but who cares because the idea of Ryan, Ewan and Viggo just made my head explode.

Ryan gets to sing Makin' Whoopee.

I'm just sayin'.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-06-21 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude, you laugh, but you know, Ryan would climb up on that piano in some too small red tee shirt and dirty jeans and start stripping or something scandelous. There'd be a threesome on the piano!

Piano!threesome? If you insist, Ms [livejournal.com profile] hackthis.

*dies laughing*

*pictures Ryan Gosling in a red dress on top of a piano while Ewan and Viggo make googly eyes at him*

I am watching The Notebook right now, so this image holds extra punch.

[identity profile] kismeteve.livejournal.com 2005-06-21 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
I am just trying to imagine Ryan laying on a piano, slinking about.

:D

Priceless.

Well, isn't it a small world. Look at what I ordered at amazon today:

1 "Ewan McGregor And Charley Boorman - Long Way Round [UK IMPORT]"
Ewan McGregor; DVD; EUR 29,99

Heeee.

[identity profile] kismeteve.livejournal.com 2005-06-21 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
My local paper mentioned Hayden Christensen theoretically working for Architect!Brad Pitt, and I thought of you. :D

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-06-21 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
What local paper is this? Us Weekly?

[identity profile] kismeteve.livejournal.com 2005-06-21 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope. The NY Daily News. In an article talking about entertainers taking non-Hollywood jobs:

Pitt, meanwhile, is super-sizing his Home Depot skills: He has joined world-renowned architect Frank Gehry's design team. The buff architecture buff is helping design a penthouse and restaurant in a Gehry project in southern England. Pitt has even hunkered down and learned computer-aided architectural design (CAD), which we hear is a thousand times more boring than watching "Meet Joe Black" for three weeks straight.

Scoff if you will, skeptics, but these seem to be real jobs. The assignment is too risky for [Sean] Penn's love of journalism to be a celebrity pose. Pitt's love of buildings isn't just a hobby.

"I'm really into architecture, structure and design," Pitt told Vanity Fair last year. "Give me anything, and I'll design it. I'm a bit nutty with it."

Perhaps Hayden Christensen, who's also thinking about ditching acting and picking up a T-square, could be his first intern. Imagine, Achilles asking Darth Vader to go sharpen his pencil.

Okay, seriously, which one of you guys works for the Daily News? C'mon fess up. We work every other place on the planet, why not there too?

Hehe, I bet the "Jacob E. Osterhout" that wrote it is a lurker, paying you homage. :D

Long Way Round

[identity profile] alisonr.livejournal.com 2005-06-21 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
What a coincidence - I'm about 60 pages away from the end of the book. I enjoyed it a lot and thought it was a fast read. I didn't ever see the show (you'd think it would be on dvd already, wouldn't you) but I was surprised by how honest they seem to be (especially when they're kind of mean/rude to each other or the crew). Although I guess if it's been recorded they wouldn't really be able to lie about it in the book.

Anyway - good book, highly recommend it, going to be loaning it to everyone I know.

Ah, excellent!

[identity profile] thepouncer.livejournal.com 2005-06-21 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
I'm still bitter that they didn't release DVDs in the US. All I can think about is extra footage!!!

You could ask [livejournal.com profile] issaro about the book. I gave it to her for Christmas.

[identity profile] issaro.livejournal.com 2005-06-21 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Book was fun. Yes, you may borrow if you like!

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-06-21 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, yis! Please!

[identity profile] sleepypawn.livejournal.com 2005-06-21 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
The book is amusing enough. It's mostly just diary bits transcribed and some of it seems to be taken directly from the video footage. But I liked it because they talked about some things that weren't shown in the doc footage and gave background for some of the situations that happened in the doc.

[identity profile] resmin.livejournal.com 2005-06-21 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
Why do you torment me by finding all the good stuff I was going to share with you before I can actually share it with you?

No, not him! I can't abide him. [livejournal.com profile] ethrosdemon loves him. He makes me want to gag, and wash, a lot.

:P

There is a nice jrm/colin shot that just made the whole ewan/jude/johnny lee/jrm thing even more incestuous (which I originally spelled 'nice-sestuous').

[identity profile] logovo.livejournal.com 2005-06-21 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
The book is OK, but nothing compared to the great fun of the actual mini-series.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-06-21 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
That's what I'm afraid of.

[identity profile] fivil.livejournal.com 2005-06-21 08:49 am (UTC)(link)
I am officially in love with Ryan Gosling. Thanks for providing the mp3.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-06-21 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Ryan is brilliant. Yis. He sings and acts and looks hot. What more do you need? :)

[identity profile] fivil.livejournal.com 2005-06-21 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
More mp3's, if you possibly have any. ;D

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-06-21 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Alas, no, I don't.

Um, lurker *pops out of woodwork*. Hanging around for the RPS Fell into this post completely accidentally. I just thought it should be pointed out, perhaps for future source material *g*, that the Long Way Round book mentions that Ewan/Ryan movie Stay a couple times in passing in the first chapter--

Charley's talking about Ewan's work schedule: "After Star Wars, Ewan flew to New York to shoot Stay, working his arse off on his third back-to-back film to justify taking most of the next year off. Ewan had taken only eight days off in the previous twelve months and, with only a short while to go before his planned career break, Ewan's family and agents, who had originally thought our scheme was no more than the idle fantasy of a man yearning for some relief from a highly pressured career, were starting to take the trip seriously...Ewan had lined the inside of his trailer on the Stay set in New York with maps of the countries we hoped to pass through and was meticulously planning his journey."

You are absolutely brilliant. Thank you so much for just adding petrol to the fire. Seriously, I'm always thrilled when people who read my LJ just randomly give me snippets of information to play with.
