I saw a film one time. 'twas quite good, really.

Have just come from seeing The March of the Penguins. Please insert the obligatory cooing sounds [here]. It was by turns heart-breaking and uplifting and just such a welcome change from all the typical Hollywood dreck. I absolutely adored it. Plus, Morgan Freeman narration = v soothing experience. I would definitely recommend it.

That makes the third great film I've seen this year, and it's only July. That's definitely up from last year, when I think I saw one engaging film in all twelve months.

I post, however , because two things occurred during this film that have nothing to do with wee penguins. I speak, of course, of trailers! There was a trailer for The Goblet of Fire, and may I just say now, having not see the trailers before but seeing them in the theatre, dude, I think Durmstrang may have more hot men per square inch than anybody knew prior to this moment. Oh, the slash. I think I need Cedric/Krum. Does this exist? It so should.

Also, I saw a trailer for Pride and Prejudice, the version starring Keira Knightly, which I have to see on principle of it being Jane Austen. I know upfront this is nothing to the BBC adapation with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth. Keira will never be the next Kate Winslet, however, everyone is fired for not telling me that Tom Quinn! Baby Daddy! Matthew MacFayden was playing Darcy, cos really,<33333333 Spooks/MI-5

FYI: It's Sad Bastard Music Week over at [livejournal.com profile] audiography, i.e. End of the world theme, so you know, go over there, post, take, enjoy. I'll get a post together if I can cut a list of under 50. Err, 10.

Links to screencaps! Oh, I am so making icons. Thanks so much!

And dude, how is it that I so often run into my f-list on other people's f-list's f-list? LJ is a small world.

Matthew MacFayden as Darcy has to be the best kept not-secret in LJ land. Soooooo many people on my f-list posted nearly identical comments after watching the trailer.

After which we all had a great debate as to how we should view this new adaptation, which can obviously never hope to measure up to the complete perfectness of a five hour mini-series. Things will have to be changed and/or cut for a two hour movie. BUT MM as Darcy...and they staged that scene in the rain! For that alone I would be drawn to go and see it.

I am counting the days. :)

Hey! I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who liked The March of the Penguins!
I think it's great that Morgan Freeman was the narrator of the English version. He's got such a wonderful voice! Do you know if they kept the original songs by Emilie Simon? I've watched the French version and her voice was absolutely perfect for this film.

Ooooh, all these babies pinguins are just way TOO cute! I wanted to bring one home during the whole film. But I so do NOT agree with MoiMoietMoi about the Emilie Simmon`s songs; she has a horrible French accent.

*laughs*

The baby penguins were totally adorable.
