Stuff about that book.

I put my social life first, so I only started reading two hours ago. I've got plans tonight, so I expect I'll finish tomorrow at some point. But I just had to say since I am 1/3rd of the way through The Book...

200 pages in and this is 50 times better than Order of the Phoenix. Why? Because OMG Slytherins EVERY-FUCKING-WHERE!

We got more mention in the first 50 pages than in the last five book combined.

Plus, Jack Sloper.

And Narcissa. (I will never refer to her a Cissy, that's just insulting).

And no waiting until the end for the Dumbledore chats. My gods. Has this woman learned something.

Did I mention all the Slytherin business? And that she's mentioned Theodore twice?

Of course you know my favouritest bit already.

BLAISE! He's black. And hot. And super smart. And his mom was married seven times and did a Bluebeard on all her husbands. This is now my favouritest bit of canon ever. Unless she talks about Theodore more.

I must re-cast Blaise now. I don't mind. Thandie Newton will be his mom.

HA! I'm a bit further than that. It is also paced out better. Though Scholastic would do better to edit more.

Between Blaise, Jack and the Theodore mentions, I have been dying so far. Just...dying.

Blaise is so hot.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-07-18 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Blaise is the hot. And now, I think I will really have to flesh out Jack, because apparently he sucks at Quidditch. I bet he was devestated when Blaise was like 'You got cut? Oh, no more sex for you!'

[identity profile] kismeteve.livejournal.com 2005-07-19 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Harry was all "yeah, I put my friends on the team...and what? Bitch." I can't say I minded it. Poor Jack. Hopefully Blaise keeps in mind that Jack now has more time free to give him blowjobs in alley ways. I'm just sayin'.

[identity profile] gravi-girl123.livejournal.com 2005-07-17 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
Yes BLAISE.

Guh. I love this book so much.

And so much Draco/Harry, eh? Obsessed much, Harry?

And no waiting until the end for the Dumbledore chats. My gods. Has this woman learned something.
I know!! FINALLY.

As you can see I'm so excited to find someone who's seeing the beauty of this book, and really, how can you not? Am enjoying it so much more than the last one.

Now if only Sirius would come back already...

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-07-18 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
This one was far and away better than the last one. I mean, like, wow. And I'm not just saying that because it was the Slytherin Network all the time. Well, I am, but whatever. I never claimed to be impartial!

[identity profile] romanticalgirl.livejournal.com 2005-07-17 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
Throughout my entire reading I kept thinking [livejournal.com profile] hackthis is going to *die* of happiness.

Hee!

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-07-18 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I did. I really did.

[identity profile] ethrosdemon.livejournal.com 2005-07-17 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
OK, the Blaise being black thing sent me SPINNING. I was screaming, and I wanted to call you ass, but it was like noon, and I was like "she's not up yet!" and so I ran around in circles freaking. All our fic is Jossed. Our world is remade. Let's get about that.

BUT how totally BLAISE was he? I was cracking UP! His responses to Draco? We could have written that!

He's the guy from Barber Shop. Come on.

[identity profile] kismeteve.livejournal.com 2005-07-17 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
He's the guy from Barber Shop.

Michael Ealy (Ricky)?

[identity profile] babyofthegroup.livejournal.com 2005-07-17 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
I must re-cast Blaise now.

Hee! I was waiting to find out if you'd do that :D

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-07-18 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Oliver! I miss Oliver dreadfully.

[identity profile] babyofthegroup.livejournal.com 2005-07-18 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! I admit, I may have squealed a little when I read F&G's line about Oliver wanting to off the whole Slytherin quidditch team. Because it's *so Oliver*.

and, uh, Sean Biggerstaff is kinda hot

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-07-18 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
He's legal, it's okay, you can say it out loud. :D

[identity profile] babyofthegroup.livejournal.com 2005-07-18 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahahahahahahahahaha. Actually, he's less than a year younger than I am; no worries there! Just... I have issues with book!Oliver versus movie!Oliver. Lusting after the Biggerstaff is all well and good (and happens every time I watch either of the first two movies), and he's Oliver some of the time, but... he's not *Real Oliver*, who is really a bit sociopathic and probably less pretty and more *hot*, and completely likely to beat the crap out of the entire Slytherin quidditch team if it means winning the Cup. Oh, the not-so-noble Gryffindors, how I love them.

I'm on the lookout for a book!Oliver photo...

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-07-18 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[livejournal.com profile] ethrosdemon browbeat me into casting Ewan McGregor (http://pics.livejournal.com/hackthis/gallery/00007twp) as Oliver. Whoa, the hardship ;)

[identity profile] babyofthegroup.livejournal.com 2005-07-19 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
Such pain and suffering you endure for your art! ;)

[identity profile] causticwookie.livejournal.com 2005-07-17 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
I will say, I thought of you while reading. You'll know the part when you get to it. :D

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-07-18 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
The VC! The VC!

[identity profile] ztrin.livejournal.com 2005-07-17 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
When I reached the Blaise part, I thought to myself, "Man, is [livejournal.com profile] hackthis gonna love this."

And Thandie Newton? HOT.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-07-18 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I read it and was just like 'for real? for real real?' I then slobbered all over the book.

[identity profile] liseuse.livejournal.com 2005-07-17 11:20 am (UTC)(link)
All the Slytherin presence had me squeeing. Blaise as black did give me a momentary pause, but my mental image is readjusted. Plus all the Theodore!

[identity profile] sockich.livejournal.com 2005-07-17 12:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I just had to say that this:

200 pages in and this is 50 times better than Order of the Phoenix. Why? Because OMG Slytherins EVERY-FUCKING-WHERE!

is exactely how I reacted! I mean seriously, we got to see Slytherins in their natural habitat (lol), not just how they are around Harry, how fucking awesome is that!

[identity profile] fivil.livejournal.com 2005-07-17 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a great book for all Slytherin fans, true.

[identity profile] jonem.livejournal.com 2005-07-17 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
My first thought reading the book was "JKR's been pinching [livejournal.com profile] hackthis's characters!"

I thought of you often, especially when Blaise popped up (Thandie! Genius!)

I had no interest, then I started reading the spoilers and it actually sounds pretty good. Now I've got an e-version that I'm going to put on my palm pilot and read eventually. But I'm still not paying for the hardback. I never finished OOTP!

[identity profile] velutlunas.livejournal.com 2005-07-18 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
don't know you that well and all, but I have to say, that because of reading your fic?

This book just made me all squiggly. And, thanks to you and yours' incredible insight I felt all sorts of in the loop.

Thanks so much.

[identity profile] kylandra.livejournal.com 2005-07-18 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
This was, like, the Slytherin book. YES.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-07-18 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes!

[identity profile] zoniduck.livejournal.com 2005-07-18 08:28 am (UTC)(link)
Dude, you were the VERY FIRST PERSON I thought of when I read that bit about Blaise. So happy to hear you will be recasting. Will it require tweaking any of your previously written fic, or do you plan to let them stand as written?

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-07-18 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll let the stories stand as they are. I can make more ;)

[identity profile] zoniduck.livejournal.com 2005-07-18 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
YAY for more!!! ::clappy hands::

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-07-18 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes, precioussss. Many more. So many more that I'm finding it difficult to figure out where to start.

[identity profile] theantimodel.livejournal.com 2005-07-18 10:21 am (UTC)(link)
And his mom was married seven times and did a Bluebeard on all her husbands. This is now my favouritest bit of canon ever. Unless she talks about Theodore more.

Rest assured that I was thinking about you throughout the book. So many Slytherins!

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-07-18 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Loved it. Fracking loved it.

[identity profile] mellafe.livejournal.com 2005-07-21 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha. The book remind me of you ALL THE WAY. I was like Blaise! Nott! Malfoy! MONTAGUE!!!

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-07-21 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I admit I spazzed out for most of the book, because it was totally a love note to Slytherin for ignoring us, for like, EVER. But when it turned out that everything hinged on the Vanishing Cabinet and that Gavin and Draco had talked about it I just plotzed.

[identity profile] veradeath.livejournal.com 2005-07-27 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
I was happy at all the Slytherin action! I squeed lots. I was happy to get a mental picture of Blaise because I finally can picture him now.He was always just a snarky guy to me and she's fleshed him out now. And the way Harry was so obsessed about Draco......And the VC just blew my mind. She's improved, even if it seems she has nicked your characters.
