1. I owe nifra_idril an apology for saying that her boy, Ioan Gruffudd, wasn't attractive. I mean, he's a bit too much with the big eyes for me, but after having watched five of the six seven of the eight Horatio Hornblower films*, I can say that he's certainly not hard on the eyes. He's no Jamie Bamber, who is just fucking adorable as hell, and he's no Paul McGann with the Grumbling Voice of Sexual Doom, but yeah, I reckon I'd vote for him in the Really Nice Arse Awards.**

*I need fic recs for HH if you please.

** Of course he couldn't hold a coin to Jamie Bamber on BSG last week, but who could? I would like to thank the costuming department of BSG and whomever decides the dimensions of regulation military towels for being really stingy fuckers. Yay!


2. Today is 13th September, which means that Elbow's new album, Leaders of the Free World is out and I cannot stress enough how much I think everyone should go and pick up a copy. 5. I know there's been a deplorable lack of writing in this space recently. I've not written anything in well over a month, and while there's a part of me that feels very sad about this, the truth of the matter is I'm just not inspired right now. If I don’t have kattiya waving things in my face and circe_tigana slyly insinuating bits about Blaise and Theodore I'll focus on other things. They're off, so I'm focussing on other things. My RL is benefiting at the very least.


6. Thank you ravurian and parthenia14 on behalf of myself and ethrosdemon for introducing me to James Blunt. He's not pretty, but boy can he sing up a storm. Listen to 'You're Beautiful' and 'No Bravery'.

I hope to write something for 'You're Beautiful' very soon. Of course I'd be happy to just write something full stop at this point.

Have you seen the video for You're Beautiful? Which you can find here (http://www.jamesblunt.com/video.html). Because, mmm. He's not exactly beautiful, but he does take his clothes off in the snow on the edge of a cliff. And I'm not saying I'm shallow exactly, but.

I saw him being interviewed on breakfast TV with that video playing on a giant screen behind his head and the (female) interviewer had to stop talking every so often to wipe the drool from her chin.

I resolutely did not like him in Mutiny at all, he was so... so not Archie. And then, at some point, possibly when they all jumped off the cliff together, I was like 'Oh, huh.' And then my brain was like 'nice voice. huh?' and my libido said 'Urk.' I know, but it's true.

Oh, you're very welcome. I hope he unlocks your inspiration; I know how having none feels. On the other hand, I wrote 15000 words in two days, so I'm feeling relatively smug at the moment. Only relatively, though, because a dissertation is supposed to take months. I suppose I should hold off on the smug until I find out whether I passed. Oy.

As for the pretty... well, I'd never seen Mr Blunt until you posted the link to his site. He doesn't look too bad here though.

<---- Ioan's Biotch. Remember, back in the glory days of BBB? Hornblower is awesome, particularly the first six episodes. And I especially love how Ioan has more chemistry with men (Jamie Bamber, Clive Owen) than any other woman I've seen him with. Oh and I think there are actually 8 Hornblowers.
