Where I get my bitch on.

Some people get their freak on, today, I get my bitch on.

1. Stargate Atlantis. I don't get the appeal. I've tried, repeatedly. It bored me to tears. That's not my beef though, because I have my most beloved Battlestar Galactica. What is killing me is that everyone, and I do mean pretty much every fucking person I know, is loving this show with an unholy passion, and they're turning that unholy passion into stories that I can't read! [livejournal.com profile] lyra_sena wrote fucking guitar porn! [livejournal.com profile] rageprufrock has some crazy series about strippers (that is what that's about, yeah? I'm only going off the title). [livejournal.com profile] seperis is writing, like, assassin-fic or something. And here I am with nothing! That sucks. But you'll never get me to that show, so.

2. Speaking of shows I don't fancy, Firefly is another one. This isn't me telling people that they can't be all happy about Serenity, since apparently if SGA isn't your show, this one is. I mean everyone has their space show, and even [livejournal.com profile] ethrosdemon likes this one (or maybe that's just Nathan Fillion's bum), but just, no. I do think Gina Torres rocks, but that's probably because she's married to Laurence Fishburne.

3. And while we're on the topic of things that are boring me to tears – this season of Lost sucks "hairy dog bollocks" as I told [livejournal.com profile] estrella30. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and this one is mine. Last season was fast paced, every moment resulting in fifty different consequences. 44 days were covered in 22 episodes. This season we are four episodes in and still on the same fucking day. Nothing is fucking happening on this show, people; it's boring as hell. They have 44 potential people to use, why they hell aren't they addressing them? Stop spreading your legs for everyone, JJ, and focus on the people at home. Bringing in new characters is not the way to solve your issues. He pulled this same shit on Alias, and it's so not necessary.

Uh, yeah, that's pretty much it for me today. Thanks to everyone for answering my iPod questions. I'm off to search for something of interest to read that's not SGA.

ETA: I should point out that there are shows that I do love: Kichen Confidential, Grey's Anatomy, Nip/Tuck, Made and What Not to Wear. Also, obviously Entourage and Battlestar Galactica, but they're on hiatus right now.

...oh that's a watch?? Didn't know they came with red lace...

Bring Back Sark!

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I read your post about Alias, and as someone who hasn't watched since Sark left, well, I couldn't agree more. JJ has this thing where he thinks more characters will make things better, but they won't! You don't have to keep bringing in new characters if you utilise the ones you have and he doesn't do that. Big big zero in my book.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
That's the real problem, innit? No new fiction in any fandom that I actually care about.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, but people keep writing in SV, sometimes. I know because I read it, even though I don't, like, watch the show or anything. I know it all goes in cycles and right now this is the cycle where everyone around me is in some fandom I don't like, still sucks.

[identity profile] serialkarma.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a...very...special watch. Yis.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
BSG is fucking fantabulous and my only regret is that I didn't start watching it when [livejournal.com profile] serialkarma told me to.

[identity profile] serialkarma.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Then I got brainwashed and everything was fine!

*dies*

suddenly I feel like I'm living in Brave New World. Is this how you feel, Z? *pets*

Re: Bring Back Sark!

OMG, you're so right! He's doing the same thing in Lost now, bringing in new characters when we still haven't really figured out the old ones. What's with that? I wish I could meet him so I could give him a good kick. And to make him bring Sark back. He was the yummiest thing that ever happened to television. Well, to Alias anyway. :D

[identity profile] cirakaite.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I tuned in 2 episodes before the hiatus. On the one hand, that meant shiny DVDs and a weekend of glorious obsession in seeing all of Season 1 in quick succession. On the other . . . why did I not watch this before? It's beyond incredible.

[identity profile] theantimodel.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, and sometimes, the benefits of not seeing something first become apparent. I'm actually fairly okay with not seeing the show. I do like Joe Flanigan, but I think it's mostly because his last name is my middle name and I have a lot of love for the Irish name thing.

[identity profile] romanticalgirl.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I think he's got a darker side than Law has, which would serve Bond well. Also, you know, yum.

[identity profile] romanticalgirl.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree - it's good for him, and hopefully will give him the name and the freedom with the money from Bond to choose other roles. Plus, as a bonus for the fans, there are plenty of sex scenes in Bond that will require he be in various states of undress which, let's be honest, is what this is all about. I'm hoping they go with the suaveness of the Connery Bond though, rather than the later Bonds, only with a touch of darkness that Craig can really bring to the role.

Now I just need them to cast Angelina Jolie as a Bond girl so I can see my Tomb Raider fantasy come to life. And maybe finish the fic I started about it. Hee.

*raises an eyebrow* And people say wobblers aren't the way to get what you want.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
You harlot! I give you the best years of my writing and this is what we've come to. *sniff* I see how it is.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
That's totally how I feel.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I live for Daniel Craig sex scenes. Or just Daniel Craig in jeans. Or in tee shirts, I think I'll go home and watch Layer Cake again.

[identity profile] estrella30.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I love you so much and want to MARRY this post. My god, I just got SO TURNED ON ROWR!

You can get yer bitch on ANY day, baby *g*

[identity profile] plumtastic.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude, I'm sure I can scrounge up the emails to SK where I'm repeatedly whining about how I can't see Rodney McKay as a sexual object. Ever.

And then one day...well, here. Found it.

I just finished Resonant's "Abstain", and omg, McKay just became a sexual object.

*headdesk*

No kidding, I'm like having the hardest time even TYPING at the
moment, either from the hotness or as shock from the realization.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
You people are disturbed. He's like a teletubby.

[identity profile] veradeath.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I caught an epp of Lost(S2) an was utterly confused, caught the first half of S1 on SGA and was sorely disappointed. And FF never really appealed to me. But I have CSI, 4400, Kitchen Confidental, Prison Break and Supernatural. So I'm happy. ASnd there's lots of porn, too!

[identity profile] desdema.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
As a very new fan of SGA I just wanted to say that when I tried to watch random episodes of SGA in the past I was totally not feeling the love, to the point that I turned them off about halfway through. Part of the problem was that I had no idea what was going on with the series overall - I didn't understand where they were or how they got there or what the characters had already been through together. I'd also never watched the original Stargate series so I had no idea of the basic parameters of their scifi universe.

Given all this, what worked for me was watching the episodes in order from the very beginning. I still don't think the show itself is that fabulous but I fell in love with a couple of the main characters and they're what keeps me watching. And of course familiarity with SGA has given me access to the wealth of truly incredible fic and discussion that has come out of SGA fandom. This is definitely the biggest fandom I've been a part of since X-Files and there is so much to see and do here that for me it offsets the less-than-fabulousness that is sometimes the actual show.

[identity profile] plumtastic.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
But he talks faster than we do (a skill!) and has that whole math/science thing going on.

Because I apparently find mastery of subjects I don't understand extremely hot. Explains all those math geek-brain bowl boys in high school...And come to think of it, one of *those* actually grew up and went to the Air Force Academy. Huh.

[identity profile] ignited.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Word to pretty much all of the above. I don't really care much for Firefly -- I saw it when it aired, didn't love it. I'm trying to rent it off Netflix to give it another chance but it's a long wait so.. oh well. ::shrugs:: As for Lost, I'm pissed because I liked last season and now it's just dragging on. Eghhh.

On a similar note, I don't mind if people pimp shows -- hey, that's how I find new things -- but if it doesn't hold my interest after the first few eps, later for that. I am a picky whore. It's fandom that's making me check out TV shows; I'd be happy with just watching movies, damn it.

Though I still have BSG to watch so I must start on that soon.

I figure as long as I still have a few toys, I can endure this. Theoretically.
