Dearest

yuletide Santa:

I'm sure there are lots of things I could say I want in my story -- humor, crack, more humor, slash, sarcasm, gen, humor, crack, slash -- but the fact of the matter is that I'm pretty easy to please. I write lots of things, and I enjoy even more. The best thing you could do is to write me a story that *you* enjoyed writing, because those are the sorts of stories that always seem to turn out the best. I don't want you to feel like OMG how will I ever do this? It should be a fun experience, so, if you like it, chances are I will too.

p.s. Should you be considering the Grey's Anatomy option, can I just mention that I love EVERYBODY on that show (especially Bailey) and het is totally great and loved and fine.

This weekend, I finally had a chance to see all of Season 1 of Battlestar Galactica, which for various reasons had continued to elude me for quite some time, and now, I must confess OH MY GOD, JAMIE BAMBER IS THE HOTTEST THING EVAR!! SGA what?

I mean, I've suspected for quite some time that Lee Adama could put Hamlet to shame with the tortured bit, but just, you know, wow.* I had not planned to spend my weekend in collusion with the sofa and the zoom feature on the DVD player**, but that was so the best way to go. And also, can Helo please come and save me now? He's the sort of guy you slash your own tyres for. And Tyrol. Loving Tyrol. And I get the Leoben/Kara now. Oh, please to be reading some of that. Also, Kara once again shows herself to be the girl everyone else aspires to be with the kicking ass and taking names. I hate the President, but I love Commander Adama, so it all balances out.

The only person I heart more than Jamie Bamber is

serialkarma who a) sent me said DVDs b) responded to, like, 40% of my ranting text messages and c) then let me babble in her ear for an hour about said Mr Bamber, pretty much without breathing, for much of yesterday afternoon. That's love.

My brain isn't as porny as it seems, I just comparmentalise well -- sometimes the porn doesn't stay in it's box. It likes to play with everything. It totally makes a mess and gets all over everthing -- like lube. What? I couldn't think of a better simile!

Yeah, I know. Okay, sometimes I think about sex a lot. Like every 4 seconds -- but that's not when I'm watching BSG cos it's already on the screen.

The love for BSG cannot be textually rendered, although I gave it a damn good shot.

I totally got my Dad, the sci-fi snob, hooked on it. I burned the miniseries and all of the episodes so far onto disks for him and mailed them off. He spent the entire weekend watching them back-to-back, and he's now bitching about no new episodes until January. Ahahahahahahah!!

The best thing that could happen in my world now is for you to write BSG fic. Of course, *that* I wouldn't be sharing with my Dad. *g*

I've written a few snippets, but nothing full-blown. I'm still waiting for the right bunny to sink it's teeth into my jugular. Okay, that was really graphic.

Of course, I also love the President. In fact other than Tigh and Mrs Tigh (both of whom I think are really interesting and vital to the show), I like all the characters. They're not perfect, they all have flaws, they're all in over their heads with this situation but doing as best as they can. And then there're angsty and hot looks on top of it all.

H likes the President too, but having seen it in the order of tail end of S1, S2, more bits of S1, miniseries, all of S1, I look on the President now as a manipulator. S2, she's just bonkers, but S1, she's all politician. I loathe politicians. I wouldn't say I love the Tighs, but I find them very necessary and you cannot deny the Old Man Slash.

I'm in complete and utter lust with GA. I love everyone on that show, even the asshole (Alex) and the homewrecker (Addison or Meredith, depending on who you talk to).

i adore Meredith. i was pretty damned surprised by liking Addison, though. but damn, both that actress and Mr. Dempsey just sell their damned pain and OW.

Watched an episode of BSG last night (S1) - amazing stuff. Shall be graciously allowing

But Jamie Bamber will never be as hot as Joe Flanigan :-P

I can't believe it's not January yet. The characters on the show--I miss them. Sad but true. The kids on Rome help me out a bit, but that will be off the air next week and knowing HBO it will not be back for a year or so.

I watch the show completely and utterly enrapt. I sent my mate like 20 text messages detailing the hotness of Lee and Helo and singing the praises of the wardrobe department, which has managed to make the only jumpsuit available that's roomy in the chest and the legs, but tight on the ass. *is joyous*

OMG I sank into the BSG vortex recently myself and Lee Adama should be at my house RIGHT NOW doing my laundry. That is all.
