Music makes the world go round.

a) I wrote more Lee/Helo last night #3: If I Tried (I Could Stay Away Forever)
b) I wrote Ari-fic yesterday afternoon: The Midas Touch. Love Ari. He loves you.
c) I have no idea what to write today.
d) I desire more mp3s. See the list below:

+ Hot Chip (anything)
+ The Devlins (anything except Don't Let it Break Your Heart and The World Outside)
+ Robyn - Do You Really Want Me
+ Robyn – Konichiwa Bitches
+ Robyn - Show Me Love
+ Outkast & Sleep Brown 'I Can't Wait'
+ Stevie Wonder – Fingertips pt II
+ Stevie Wonder - Part-time Lover
+ Stevie Wonder - That Girl
I am sorted, thank you guys!

e) Because it's rude to ask and not give, here's my top five at the moment

5. Zero 7 'Likufanale' – When you first listen to this song it seems so laid back that you think it's just a bunch of harmonizing, and then, about three-and-a-half minutes in an old man starts talking to you. It's brief, but listen to him.

4. Radiohead 'Drunken Punch-up at a Wedding' (live) – I introduced [livejournal.com profile] literaryll to this song, and now, she can't stop talking about it. My love for Thom & Co is well documented, but this song holds a special place in my heart for doing what Thom does so well, which is being surly and telling someone off. I don't know, why you bother. Nothing's ever good enough for you.

3. Panjabi MC 'Mundian To Bach Ke' – a) Bhangra classes should be frakking required in schools. B) Indian music is the all-purpose get up off your arse and dance music. Guaranteed. If you can listen to this and not start dancing you have no soul. None I tell you. You don't have to understand the lyrics to feel the infectiousness.

2. Tom Jones 'It's Not Unusual' – I have a friend, who we will call 'J', who had no idea who Tom Jones was. She knew his music, but not the man, and to me that's like saying you don't know who George Clooney is. It's Tom Jones. Tom fucking Jones! You can't not love Tom Jones, for real.

1. Gnarls Barkley* 'Crazy'[livejournal.com profile] literaryll sent this song to me with the note: this totally makes me think of you. The last song I'd heard this about was The Streets 'Fit But You Know it', which both [livejournal.com profile] ethrosdemon and [livejournal.com profile] kattiya said made them think of me. Obviously, I was a little apprehensive about a song called 'Crazy', but oh my fucking god, it's so good.

*For the record, there is no artist named Gnarls Barkley (more the shame since it's a great rip on Charles Barkley) this is actually a collaboration between Danger Mouse and Cee-Lo.

Heatseeker Chart -- Feist 'Inside and Out' People have been trying to get me to listen to her for months. I have been resolutely saying no, because unless it's Fiona or Alicia or old Motown, or hey, Janis, I'm not really interested. You want to hear this. You really want to hear this.

Ooh, thank you! I'm going to download the Punjabi MC and the Zero 7.

Here (http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=063NRWN6V9SOI27JA0ALWPK9EX)'s the Stevie Wonder. Which took me far too long to find because it was under "Little Stevie Wonder".

I've downloaded all the music. Am looking forward to the Bhangra one, not least because in the last week or so I have discovered embraced the Bollywood Grooves and Bhangra-cise. By embraced, I mean 'humiliated myself utterly in a really fun way'.

I thought I sent you the Do You Really Want Me one - did it not work for you?

*working on getting the rest*

Yes I am still in love with Punch-up! I'm listening to it right now as a matter of fact. And the volume is as loud as it will go on my ear phones.

Have you ever heard the Tom Jones/Sarah Brightman duet - "There is Something in the Air"?

Here ya go:

Robyn - Konichiwa Bitches (http://s24.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2BP9E97BE41EF04VIJGL5WIZVM)

it embarrasses me that i love that feist song so much, because it's a freaking BEE GEES cover, but it's fucking awesome anyway. :)

[identity profile] acroamatica.livejournal.com 2006-01-20 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
That is for true. Not loving Tom Jones is like not loving Ari, except that it's a little less likely to lead to a verbal attack. :D Ta for the music, I look forward to listening when I'm not being talked at about Greek politics... *snooze*

[identity profile] raucousraven.livejournal.com 2006-01-20 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Your Zero7/Radiohead/Feist love is just one more sign of your true awesomeness. I love all three of those artists muchly, and that Feist cover is right up there. I don't say it's the best, because that's Ryan Adam's incredible "Wonderwall," but it's up.

Thanks for the musiks! *off to reread Midas Touch*

Well, damn. You already got all the ones that I have. I could send you some old school Stevie Wonder from "Songs In The Key of Life" when I get home, if you want.

Also, I snagged the Gnarls Barkley, and also the Punjabi MC because I don't have any Bhangra. Thanks for sharing!

I owe Thom a shrine, yo.

[identity profile] copernica3.livejournal.com 2006-01-20 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Music! Took most of them. My music collection isn't very interesting, but I have a very bouncy Outkast vs Queen mp3, if you want it.

[identity profile] elfiepike.livejournal.com 2006-01-20 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
i play a tom jones "best of" cd at work all the time. i think sometimes that my coworkers want to kill me for it, but dude! what else can make a person so happy about pricing something as "thunderball"?

and i have a really sick desire to karaoke "it's not unusual". i am consumed with this. XD

[identity profile] issaro.livejournal.com 2006-01-20 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Tom Jones! Tom Fucking Jones! *smirks*

::delurk::

Oooh, new music ideas! I love your music posts -- I've discovered tons of new stuff through them.

I wish I was able to send you some of the stuff you're looking for, but I have none of it, alas. Unless you were looking for more Feist? Do you know the one she did with the Kings of Convenience?

Also, your Lee is breaking my heart.

[identity profile] chicklet-girl.livejournal.com 2006-01-21 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
Took the MC Panjabi. While I'm waiting for it to download, I would like to say that people who don't like Tom Jones are philistines, the lot of them. My favorite shoe store also sells awesome handbags, the awesomest of which is a plywood-sided thing with, on one side, a 1960s Jones album cover, and on the other side, the actual vinyl album. If it didn't cost $70, I would snap it up like whoa.

Also, I know you like George, so here's T.R. Knight as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart at the Guthrie Theater in 2001. I tried to find a picture on the Internets of five-year-old T.R. playing Tiny Tim in A Christmas Carol, but was thwarted at every turn. I have seen one in the local newspaper, though, and it's even cuter than you'd imagine.

And now I'm off to read your new Ari story.
