Music makes the world go round.

Jay-Z. Linkin Park. Paul frakking McCartney.

On the same stage. Performing together.

*blinks*

Are all awards shows this cracked out, because if they are, I may have to start watching them.

Also, please tell me I'm not really asking for that Keith Urban song he was singing. Yeah, that's so not happening. Really. Moving onward, who's going to hand over Sly & the Family Stone's 'Everyday People?' and The Beatles' Helter Skelter' I can't believe I don't have those!

And I heard Jamie and Kanye have a BAND! Two BANDS! Anybody who can provide me with the Jamie Foxx/Kanye West performance gets a drabble of their choice.

I love music. It's the best boyfriend/girlfriend/bestest friend ever.

ETA: Ron Howard please, for the good of all parties concerned, end your relationship with Tom Hanks. That dead animal on his head just, yuck.

This reminds me, I never uploaded the Stevie Wonder stuff from Songs in the Key of Life for you. I suck! Were you still interested in a selection of my favorites?

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2006-02-09 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! Yes! Yes! Also, how great were he and Alicia Keys. *hearts*

so, not only do i miss jamie and kanye singing goldigger (and they have a band? WOT?) but i miss alicia and stevie performing together?

clearly, i suck at life. if anyone hips you to these two performances, would you mind sharing? name some music you want and if i have it, it's yours.

Aw, you used the Johnny Cash icon!

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2006-02-09 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Alicia and Stevie did a little bit of Higher Ground acapella at the microphone. And Jamie and Kanye were just -- it was the SHIT! I cannot tell a lie. If you come across video, you should watch it. Of course I will share should I find it :)

A few years ago I worked a benefit where Tom Hanks was the MC and have disliked him ever since. He's a shrill, pompous, demanding little man. With really bad hair.

I kinda liked Keith Urban too. Any idea what that song was called?

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2006-02-09 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
His hair was bad before, but this new thing, when the straighter? Blergh. I was on the phone with someone on the East Coast during the first airing, and I was "Ron needs to stop sucking him off, for the good of the free world, because this is just WRONG."

I know nothing about the Keith Urban song, but when I find out, I will share.

[identity profile] angel-grace.livejournal.com 2006-02-09 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
If I'm not mistaken, the Keith Urban song was "You'll Think of Me." (I only saw the last hour and a half of the Grammys, so I missed his performance.)

Anyway, if you're interested: Keith Urban - You'll Think of Me (http://s46.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0EGI78P0DSV1B0AYY869ZOP4N9)

ROCK! *hugs*

[identity profile] lyra-sena.livejournal.com 2006-02-09 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
ahhh, that was Jay-Z. I had no clue who kept inserting 'uh-huh, oh yeah' into the song. Sir Paul looked at him a bit odd, did you think? I thought Kanye and Jamie did a bang up job though -- but I have a crush on that song anyway, so.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2006-02-09 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry. Wait. Are you telling me THAT YOU DON'T KNOW WHO JAY-Z IS?!

I have to go have a lie-down before something gets ruptured.

[identity profile] lyra-sena.livejournal.com 2006-02-09 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I know, I know, I am terrible with keeping up on the music scene! I NEVER know who the people are -- all I know is that I can sing along with all their songs. Like this one that keeps playing OVER AND OVER on the radio till I want to scream "You're beautiful, you're beeeeyooootiiiffffulllll" and I STILL DO NOT know who sings it.

*pets you* I have caused you rupturing consternation! Have a nice lie-down with a warm cloth over your eyes.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2006-02-09 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
You're Beautiful - James Blunt. The latest English troubadour to wing his way across the Atlantic. Used to be a Captain in her Majesty's Armed Forces. I think he was a peacekeeper in Kosovo too. If you want the song, let me know, I have it somewhere.

[identity profile] lyra-sena.livejournal.com 2006-02-09 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, I don't need it because I hear it twenty times a day on the radio and it's starting to irritate, if you know what I mean. Oh but do you have the Gold digger song?

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2006-02-09 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Kanye West 'Gold Digger' (http://s44.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0HJZBHOU5MZ3710AS3Y9GV8TXQ), and also, because I always like to spread the music love, Jay-Z 'A Hard-Knock Life' (http://s44.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2HDQCMSLHUCDR2TITK64ORDMIX) and Jay-Z 'Big Pimpin' (http://s44.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3DPUJLX6PSCXJ0K0SNPNCVB91F)

[identity profile] lyra-sena.livejournal.com 2006-02-09 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
*laughs* thanks, you! I'll d/l these when I get home tonight.

Have you listened to The Grey Album? You probably have but if not, they're cool mash-ups of Jay-Z and the Beatles. Unfortunately I turned off the TV right before they did Yesterday (as I didn't think they'd sing that) and then...turned it right on a few minutes later. It was strange and yee, cracked out performances are cool.

I'm waiting for people to get up clips of the show already. I'm impatient. Damn you Grammys for being entertaining this year! DAMN IT.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2006-02-09 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I am the proud owner of the Grey Album, and the LP/Jay-Z mash-up. I also have a wicked The Verve/Jay-Z mashup of Dirt off your Bittersweet Shoudlders. It's hot. I can't believe the Grammys, were like, good. Awards shows are NEVER good.

ETA: Ron Howard please, for the good of all parties concerned, end your relationship with Tom Hanks. That dead animal on his head just, yuck.

I was completely horrified when I saw the promos for The DaVinci Code. Who thought this was a good idea? They actually let Tom go out like that? WTF?

I was just [shudders] EW!
