I'ma write something. Eventually.
This is a dual-purpose posting.
First of all, I would like to share something that
literaryll found for me a little while ago that made me shriek like a little girl. Kanye West and Jamie Foxx performing Gold Digger & Touch the Sky at the Grammy Awards. Complete with bands, step shows, and fly 70s gear.
Now, Kanye can speak for himself, so what I want to publicly do is thank
literaryll for all her time and energy, and the way that she is just so giving and and thoughtful, and in general, just a really fabulous person. This is why I have dubbed her The Miracle Worker. I don't come across people like this very often, which makes it all the greater when I do find them, so you know, thank you.
Secondly, I was multi-losing my rag today, not really paying attention to anything, when this voice started calling to me from my computer. Apparently, Gary from Snow Patrol and Guy from Elbow have had a baby, and they've named him Harry. Harry has a band called Kubb, which, apparently, is setting things on fire at the HMVs in the UK. So, here they are, My Musical Find of the Year, or at least so far this year -- Kubb 'Wicked Soul' & Kubb 'Grow'
Thirdly, (okay, so I can't count) can anybody figure out how to convert that Kanye/Jamie file so that my iPod will accept it, because right now, it's giving me the two-finger salute when I try to upload it from iTunes.

I just. FAMU! And steppin'! I can't even fully process the amount of kickass this encompasses. This is even more kickass than the George Bush remix of Goldigger. The minute I get near high-speed internet, I'm downloading so fast, I'm taking a neck brace for the whiplash.

There is a GEORGE BUSH REMIX OF GOLDDIGGER?! I need. I NEED. How can one be down? Also, I know what you mean about awards shows. I haven't watch any in years, They bored the crap out of me, but I got multiple phone calls to watch this one, so.

Yes, GWB remix of Golddigger based upon the shit that went down during Katrina in N'Orleans. It's not actually Kanye, it's some radio personalities/rappers but the chorus is
I ain't saying he's a golddigga
But he ain't fuckin' wit' no broke niggas
overlapped with
George Bush doesn't like black people.
I almost peed my pants with love the first time I heard it. I was crying like the mother Mary, you just don't know! I actually heard it before I heard Golddigger because of the kerfluffle about Kanye ripping on Shrub and then got hipped after the fact that it was based on a song of his. In my defense, I had neither tv, internet, or radio at old apartment and freely admitted to being out of touch with popular culture. That, and most current hip-hop/rap makes me want to choke a bitch. Oh, how I long for Public Enemy and De La Soul and Tribe.
One can be down because I shall MAKE you down. I shall upload it tomorrow and sling it your way, as I would be close to collecting pension by the time this connection finished uploading. I shall also have to hear how this Kubb sounds. New music makes me all tingly.

You don't even know how loudly I said, "WORD! Motherfucker, WORD!" Rap these days gives the baby hackthis an ulcer, this is why I spend my days trawling for old skool Dana Dane and Run DMC and Gang Starr. If I hear one more person talking about their bling, hoes, their guns. Okay, let me stop before I go off and pop a blood vessel.

No you did not just go there with Dana Dane and Run DMC and FUCKING GANG STARR! Now I must go dig out my Guru cd. For how old I was during most of the 80's, I should not know as much old-school R&B, Rap, Hip-Hop, Pop, and Rock as I do. However, when your primary human contact is a teenager who is music crazy, that'll happen. Sis is ten years older and was auto-babysitter for most of the 80's. The number of Saturdays I spent pouting because we were watching that new-fangled MTV or Sooooooooul Train! instead of the Smurfs were the angst in my preschool world. Then again, I was the only 10 year old who had a vinyl collection, let alone the LP single of "Rapper's Delight."
I wasn't much on gansta rap anyway, but I really stopped listening to most rap shortly after TuPac and Biggie were shot. Shortly thereafter, Cash Money Millionaires came on the scene. Coincidence? I think not.
aside
I just found out that Raven Simone did a version of "People Make the World Go Round."
And I can't find the original version to purge my ears. I had it and now it's gone and I am in pain, Z. Pain.
and, should you not care about this, feel free to ignore. i'll be over in the corner. twitching.
