OMG PLZ 2 B WATCHING FNL NOW!!!

Note: I'm stealing this from [livejournal.com profile] boniblithe who stole it from [livejournal.com profile] herself_nyc who stole it from your mom. I would write this one myself, as I have tried, repeatedly, to sell you guys on what is, hands down, my favorite show of 2006, and I'd do it again today, but I am tired. I had like 5 hours of sleep...

Heartbreak, humor, strong women, strong men, beautiful boys and lovely girls, femslash and slash potential ... this show has everything except enough people for me to talk to about it *g*

Friday Night Lights, a program making almost every critic's top 10 list (and it so deserves it), is getting a marathon this week. [Edited because the other marathon ran last night]

On Saturday, from 9:00AM to 7:00PM ET, Bravo, NBC's cable sister, will show every episode that NBC aired this season, in order. If you want to get into what is really the best new drama of this season - great writing, Emmy caliber acting, very interesting camera production - this is a good chance.

The schedule:

9AM - "Pilot"
10AM - "Eyes Wide Open"
11AM - "Wind Sprints"
12N - "Who's Your Daddy"
1PM - "Git 'Er Done"
2PM - "El Accidente"
3PM - "Homecoming"
4PM - "Crossing the Line"
5PM - "Full Hearts"
6PM - "It's Different for Girls"

Next week, the program moves to Wednesdays at 8PM ET. It is available at NBC.com the day after the program runs on the network. Give the show a try - it is really, really good.

ETA Don't believe us, believe TV Guide's Matt Roush:

Underdog of the year: Friday Night Lights

No big stars to speak of. A small-town Texas setting and a sports theme that should potentially turn off huge segments of the viewing demographic. A show that takes faith seriously, yet refuses to pander to false hope or saccharine characters. Friday Night Lights sounds like a show that's too good for you to be good enough to enjoy, which may be why this gem is this year's Best Show You're Not Watching. (Though if you've bothered to read this far, I hope that you are.) There are so many reasons to watch: the authenticity of its setting, the rich humanity of its characters. These include Matt Saracen, the awkward replacement quarterback who heartbreakingly tends to his senile granny while his dad's at war, even as he tentatively tries to woo the coach's precocious daughter; Jason Street, the fallen star quarterback now assessing his future from a wheelchair; Tim Riggins, the troubled wild child with a natural talent that you can't help but fear he'll squander; and the coach and his wife, played with a naturalness by Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton that is a joy and a wonder to behold. This quietly affecting, reliably tear-jerking drama is a show to root for. NBC deserves a huge thanks for keeping the lights on for Friday Night Lights as it struggles to find an audience in its first (hopefully not only) season.

TiVo it. Download it. Don't let this one get away.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD AND FOOTBALL AND HOTASSERY, PLEASE DON'T LET THEM TAKE AWAY MY SHOW.

I tried to watch the episodes on Yahoo! TV (http://tv.yahoo.com) but the thing wouldn't co-operate with me properly. I'll try again but as a foreigner I can't sadly contribute to the ratings in any way. :/

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2006-12-28 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
*scowls* DAMN YAHOO! I would recommend trying [livejournal.com profile] fnlstillness. I think. And I'm just happy if people try it out. You don't have to love it, you just have to try it.

I can't even begin to think about what it would be like it if doesn't get renewed. I'll be utterly crushed :-(

Mind if I copy parts of this post to put in my journal tomorrow?

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2006-12-28 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Darlin' you can copy the entire post, I certainly did.

[identity profile] brandil.livejournal.com 2006-12-28 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool. You'd think as many of us are going on about it that more would join - I keep hoping it'll be like the Supernatural explosion last year, but so far no joy.

[identity profile] onelittlesleep.livejournal.com 2006-12-28 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, hackthis. You know where I can um...download this in a non-torrent way?

Everyone's so excited about it.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2006-12-28 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I know that episodes can be viewed on nbc.com along with deleted scenes. There is also [livejournal.com profile] fnlstillness. :)

[identity profile] onelittlesleep.livejournal.com 2006-12-28 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
OH. And you mentioned that up-thread. Thank you!

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2006-12-28 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
You are very welcome.

I'm posting this in my LJ--I meant to write the same thing, but you said everything that I was going to say!

I have all the episodes saved, burned them to DVD, share them with family and friends and I STILL watched the marathon last night!

And I finally got around to watching the movie. Listening to the commentary with Pete Berg and Buzz Bissinger right now and I can see so many things he took from the movie for the show. Amazing.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2006-12-29 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
The first time I saw the movie I nearly burst into tears it was just, like, whoa.

[identity profile] screaming-mimie.livejournal.com 2006-12-28 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I keep wanting to watch it, but hate jumping into shows that have already aired several episodes, so this would be a great opportunity for me aside from the fact that I have to work all day Saturday... blasted.

[identity profile] screaming-mimie.livejournal.com 2006-12-29 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Ignore me, saw someone mention Yahoo TV and am currently watching the pilot episode. And since I have tomorrow off, I'll have plenty of time to watch the other ones.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2006-12-29 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
*dances around happily*

[identity profile] screaming-mimie.livejournal.com 2006-12-29 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
Ok, just finished the pilot and after a slow start, that almost made me stop watching, it got better toward the end, so I'll give episode 2 a shot. Sadly, Yahoo TV doesn't have episodes 9 & 10 so if I keep watching, I'll have to hope I'm home in time to watch them Saturday.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2006-12-29 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
I know the first episode or two is a little slow. Hell, in the beginning I was like, 'huh?' - but somewhere along the line it started picking up all this steam and then I was all OMGWTFDAMN!

[identity profile] screaming-mimie.livejournal.com 2006-12-29 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
I adore Kyle Chandler, so that was most of the reason I even wanted to watch it, but as is always my luck, this happened to be this season "show I want to watch, but can't because it's on a night I can't watch it". And, because I'm stupid most of the time, it never occurred to me to look into finding it online... which is pathetic considering I watch Supernatural online since it's on at the same time as Grey's Anatomy. I swear, sometimes, the level of my idiocy astounds me.

[identity profile] screaming-mimie.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not on your flist, so I figured I best come here to tell you I'm about to love all over in my lj since you're the one who get me to finally get off my ass and watch FNL. holy crap, girl, it's like crack and I'm a total whore.

[identity profile] issyadore.livejournal.com 2006-12-29 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
yeah, I keep hearing this is good. I plan to marathon it this summer once the season's wrapped up :)

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2006-12-29 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope/think you will enjoy it. Like a lot.

[identity profile] literaryll.livejournal.com 2006-12-29 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
Okay. I see what I will be doing this Saturday.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2006-12-29 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)

Woobie.

[identity profile] veradeath.livejournal.com 2006-12-29 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
This is awesome. I was wondering what I would watching this Saturday.

Can anyone tell me wich is the eppy that Tim tells the team that he loves Jason????

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2006-12-29 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Homecoming. I remember because it was the one where Tim wheels him onto the field.

Thank you! I have watched three episodes so far and it is wonderful. In the first episode, I was concerned i would not be able to tell any ot the boys apart, but no worries. This show is super-addictive; I am sucked in!

I will now return to sitting on my coach, blowing my nose and watching. I don't even like football!

Right. That's it. I give in. i will not be put off by fear of over-hype.

EVERYONE who's opinion i trust is talking about this show.

*wanders off to dl*

(just in case you wondered if you post worked. ;)

What over-hype? We are just enamoured by the pretty. And they can act, too. Did we mention that?
