"In the quiet words of the Virgin Mary, come again?"

This is what I thought about last night's Heroes 'Five Years Past', or whatever it was called.

Nathan was dead?

THEY KILLED NATHAN?!!!

Well, I knew something was wrong, b/c that sure as hell wasn't Nathan because he would never have let Peter go away – no matter what they fought about – and bad Peter for not realizing something was dead wrong when Nathan wasn't harassing him every five seconds -- but, uh, THEY KILLED NATHAN.

If they kill Nathan -- I will stop watching. That's not a threat, that's just the truth. Even though Adrian Pasdar was rocking those suits last night and it was never a better time to be a White House Intern (PREACH!).

It was nice to see Jim Profit in the White House, yo, seriously. Did I mention the suits?

Also? Okay, Peter with a scar and dressing all hotass? Whoooooooooooo boy.

No, really, whoooo boy. And I mean that in all the best possible, "here let me channel a little Neo from The Matrix and some Italian mob movie here in my tacky STRIP CLUB!" way. I would talk to K about this, but her head won't stop spinning around her neck and she might get pea soup on me.

As for Mohinder well, it's like I told [livejournal.com profile] antheia:

Dude, Mohinder has Petrelli-fever. He's totally their Marilyn Monroe. Maybe marginally smarter, but not by much.

Seriously though, Peter was SMOKING last night, I was like, Uhhhhhhh, there is NO WAY Nathan would have let that out the house.

Sylar as Mystique running the White House was marginally interesting -- it would have been way more interesting if it actually WAS Mystique though, for reals.

Also, you know my favorite part was when Sylar killed Claire. For reals.

I clapped.

A lot.

And for a long time.

Some other stuff happened, the show actually stopped being all "pro-America and aren't we the best, brightest and the saviours of all" and made a real indictment of the post 9/11-era. That was fucking impressive and all. Terrorists, huh?

Ha! Seriously. The ep could have only been made more perfect if we discovered Nathan was tied up in the basement.

Stop looking in my house! Honestly, people! Have you never heard of privacy?

Suck it up. ;)

You know what's scary?... In Fallout, Peter dreamed of Nathan coming for him and morphing into Sylar.

Kring has mentioned that there are quasi-prophetic clues to the dreams/visions that Peter has. And its completely twisted enough for them to show up in the fashion that it did last night... but Kring also has stated that certain things would happen and certain Heroes would clearly "die" in upcoming episodes... and Five Years Later, would also fit into the completely twisted way that Kring has of exploring themes without having to commit to them.

I'm of the camp that Nathan will NOT die, but he may have enough regret or crisis of faith to maybe wish he was. I think we will see something huge with him during the finale that will determine his role in season 2.

Other than that, I completely agree with your views on Peter's hotassery, expletives abound.

Ew. That is now how I roll, Hiro.

[identity profile] blondiusmaximus.livejournal.com 2007-05-02 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
I cannot stop myself from saving every icon I see having to do with this scene. Nathan breaks my heart. ;___;

I just thought of this, though -- earlier in the season, didn't Jessica/Niki get the papers to take a hit out on Nathan? On orders from Linderman? I find the idea terrifying. I'm not sure what I'll do if they hurt my boys, omg (unless it is in deliciously angsty ways, because I LIKE EM when they angst so pretty like).

I AM SO SERIOUS. And it could even go the way that it's actually real, not dead!Nathan, which, hot! OR if it's Nathan!Sylar and Peter and then Peter finds out that it's not his brother, but Sylar pretty much has the blackmail material to keep him for years, uhm, hot! XD

I know, but Peter was upset that Nathan sent him away and it just got easier not to call the farther away and more insulated that President!Nathan became - hence the bitterness.

I know - what must have gone wrong between that Peter and that Nathan at the end for Peter not to know that wasn't Nathan, and to believe that Nathan could do those things? Because you know if their positions had been reversed, Nathan WOULD NOT FOR ONE SECOND have believed that could be Peter.

I would love to see an alternate series of that future and how they got there. ANGST-O-RAMA.

[identity profile] antheia.livejournal.com 2007-05-02 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
That went to the bad place quickly.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2007-05-02 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
*checks watch* We can do better. We generally do.

[identity profile] antheia.livejournal.com 2007-05-02 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
At the very least, we're generally funnier.

[identity profile] ladyjestyr.livejournal.com 2007-05-02 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
I really don't think they will, though. Anything is possible, of course, but still: that was a future intended to show the viewers just how important the mission is; the bomb *must* be stopped. In that futture they also killed off Claire, SpyDaddy Daddy Bennett, Future Hiro, DL, Micah, and a whole host of others. I'll be damn surprised if that future comes to pass.

[identity profile] kelly-girl.livejournal.com 2007-05-02 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
Privacy? Nathan? Those two things together just don't compute. Especially if you're his younger, slighty emo, drama having brother.

[identity profile] hobbit-feet.livejournal.com 2007-05-02 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
OMG I KNOW! While I thought it was pretty scary-cool that Sylar managed to get into the freaking White House I was like, "But...but Nathan..."

Also, I am of the opinion that somehow present!Nathan needs to meet future!Peter. And be turned on by the smoking hot badassery. And then Peter can leave Nikki and have angsty-morally-reprehensible sex with Nathan.

And oh my God you and your amazing fics have me thinking of incest plotbunnies. What is the world coming to?

Maybe it was just me but I really had the feeling that Sylar was kind of trying to turn Mohinder into a mass murderer so that they could be fucked up psychopathic soul mates.

[identity profile] ladyclio16.livejournal.com 2007-05-02 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
I knew last week that wasn't Nathan, just from the painting that Sylar did I figured out his whole plan to kill Nathan and steal his Presidency. I totally called it last week (http://ladyclio16.livejournal.com/95993.html#cutid1). I think I was the only one who wasn't shocked. (I wasn't spoiled for it either. I'm going to stop bragging at some point I swear I will.

My theory on why Peter didn't realize Sylar had taken over Nathan's life has to do with some obvious rift occurring. I don't think it was a big I hate you rift. I think it had more to do with guilt. The guilt of Peter being the bomb and letting Nate cover that fact up for him. I think it ate away at them until they couldn't even stand to be around one another any more. The guilt of all those people dying and they couldn't stop it, Nathan even gained from it politically.

Nikki became the one who took care of Peter. He could just hide and literally be invisible. She would take care of every thing. He didn't have to see or be seen by anyone he didn't want to. She took over as his new Nathan. Except he didn't need taken care of anymore the lesson Nathan is just starting to learn I think. Which may be the other thing that drove Peter and Nathan apart. The new change in their dynamics that is happening.

[identity profile] just-katarin.livejournal.com 2007-05-02 08:43 am (UTC)(link)
oh oh oh! No no, don't freak out, see, Nathan hasn't been dead for long in 1x20. No for serious, follow along with me. Hiro and Bennet both still thought Candace and DL were alive. Therefore, in order for Sylar to have aquired their powers, he would have had to kill them fairly recently (I mean for serious, Bennet knows where his cattle are ok? And Hiro is the #1 terrorist, he has to keep tabs and stuff.)

Therefore, Nathan's been around for some time and it's only been recently that Sylar has somehow replaced him. So ya know, he and Peter were have hotass sex in the Oval Office long before now.

As for Claire, I give her a lot of slack cause I'm always 'oh she's just a teenager and teenager's are like that' but after that shit with Bennet at the diner? Bitch please.

[identity profile] gene-lee.livejournal.com 2007-05-02 10:46 am (UTC)(link)
ITA. Nathan had two year's from the time the bomb went off to make it to the Oval Office. There's no way that Brain-muncher could pull off any amount of charisma or lunacy to spend that time running for candidacy.

Plus, Sylar said that Nathan had already "betrayed his own kind" by the time he killed him. So while hinting at a later timeline, it also makes you wonder if it was a lie like Peter believed or whether Nathan's actions became more morally grey. Sylar really could've just been acknowledging that he knew about Nathan's deal with the devil or he could've been referencing the post-bomb brute squad rounding up "terrorists" or perhaps even the recent choice to kill them all.

I like to think though, that Nathan draws the line at genocide and that Sylar killed him months befor the Present-Hiro's arrival. I mean, Sylar's good, but 5 years? Man, he couldn't even fool a anmesiac for a few hours and even Mohinder eventually got a clue.

[livejournal.com profile] sparky77 and I are already on this idea and trying to figure out how to make it work for us.

Maybe it was just me but I really had the feeling that Sylar was kind of trying to turn Mohinder into a mass murderer so that they could be fucked up psychopathic soul mates.

Uh, yeah, that's another story I want to write. For reals.

YES! When do get the time to write these stories just know that somewhere in the Southern United States there will be incoherent squeaking and gleeful dancing of the Hobbity kind.

D'oh! You posted right when I was trying to correct mine. I ended up putting it under Katarin's post.

Damn, that icon is hot. I don't care how scratchy that evening stubble looks. I want rub my face on it like I'm grating cheese. mmm, cheese.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2007-05-03 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
I know what you mean about the Peter!love, mine has been a very grudging thing -- a VERY grudging thing -- but last night was just like some massive influx of 'Huh, okay, you win.' As for Claire, I'm not a fan, so.

Yes, I agree, I'm exploring this in a story I'm drafting right now.
