About a mouth ago I discovered the rather awesome talent that is selenak and I made a note to myself that I would keep an eye on her, because anyone who could write such stellar Nathan/Meredith (Folly) obviously had an ace up her sleeve. However, you know I get distracted easily – see: sparky77 and Beard!Porn (you are not off the hook!) -– so, I forgot about her until a few days ago when someone somewhere mentioned that selenak had written impossibly blinding Candice (with Angela and Peter and post S1 speculation), and I read Illusions.

At this point I said to myself, "Self, I think we have a live one here!" and then I read Campaign Secrets (Bridget Jones style-crack at the Petrelli campaign offices) and was totally enamoured. And I thought that was the hat trick. I was converted! selenak for President! Until I read The Worst Lies, which is Simone and Issac and Nathan and Peter and that whole arc and my brain stopped, because Selena managed to breathe life into a character nobody I know likes, and while she didn't make me like her, she made me understand her. She made me empathise and anybody who can do that deserves your adoration. So, go, read her work, tell her how awesome she is.

While I think technically this post has spoiled me for a bit of S4 Entourage, I really have no idea what they're talking about, so I'm not counting it. Mostly, I just think this is my favorite Defamer headline ever.

A DRESSING DOWN: The dress craze storms on, but Bud Konheim sees it as old hat. Before Nicole Miller's first resort fashion show Wednesday, Konheim said, "Everyone is acting like the dress is some new thing." Miller has been doing them throughout her 25 years in business, he noted. In fact, after decades of dresses dominating the fashion scene, it was civil rights leader Ralph Abernathy who had more to do with reversing the trend than anyone else. "After Martin Luther King was killed, he had people marching in the streets and then it became OK to wear jeans and sportswear," Konheim said.

...because the first thing most people think of when they consider the Civil Rights Movement is its impact on *fashion*.

Actually, yes, people do believe what comes out of their mouths. The fact of the matter is that you never really know *what* someone believes until it comes out of their mouths.

Kass is a snob and doesn't have a VCR, so she doesn't need the tape which means the sooner you send it back to me the sooner I start taping the episodes that are airing now and then I send them off to Ashley and then you get them sooner too. :D

also, the ONLY reason I hooked up my VCR (for the first time in almost a year!) is because I wanted to watch your tape! Also, I found an old tape you sent me last year that has Grey's Anatomy on the label (although I think there's other stuff on there?). It must have been in my VCR when I packed it up when I left Philly. Um. Whoops? Would you like me to send it back, that way you have more tapes on which to record things?

It's okay, I know you will watch it again before you send it off and by next week there'll only be like three episodes to tape. I would apologize for not being more up-to-date, but whatever. You want it you do things my way. *pauses* I actually think my DVD player burns things though, maybe I will check. You can throw the Grey's tape away, it's oldish and has been used a lot. Just send the Entourage tape b/c I only bought those a few months ago.

apologize for not being more up to date how now? Oh, you mean technologically. pfft. I still don't have a DVR myself. Maybe if I ever make more than, um, what I make now (but hi! The *20-year-old* interns here are making as much as I do! *cries*).

Do you have the Phillips DVD that plays .avi files and stuff? That's what I have and as far as i know it doesn't burn DVDs but it does have a hack that you can do to make it region-free.

I have... I don't know what I have. I had to buy a new one last year because the last one died. Oh, hey, I think I did buy one that burns, but then I'd have to buy CDs. Whatever. The tape is fine. I am a child of the 80s, everyone who's all DVR happy can bite me. Also, I have no desire to get a DVR I only watch like three shows, what programs could I need to watch that I can't just tape?

um...the one with the ultimate fighting that ends with Vince saying he likes his agent. Who is darling and adorable and reminds me of Claire on Cupid, only less neurotic. Also, I imagine, clearly not to last!

Ultimate fighting? I don't remember this episode, what else happens? Also, I'm not a big Amanda fan, but she has awesome clothes. (Have never seen Cupid, so have no frame of reference).
