"i only want them if they want me"

I’ve been trying to write all friggin day, but there’s actual work to be done. I know, WTF? Look, I know premiere season is a happy time for most, but you know, don't forget about the people that make it happen for you!

Oh, and damn the man! like [livejournal.com profile] jennyo said.

Despots and Whores
my new obsession is Tom. inspired by and dedicated to[livejournal.com profile] ethrosdemon and [livejournal.com profile] holographis

Children never forget. The smallest act of cruelty, the greatest display of kindness, children remember them all.

+++

When Tom is six, his life is full of misunderstandings and discipline. His father is a barber, and he is respected in the town where they live. His son is expected to have hair that is clean-cut and neat, and there will be no dirty knees or climbing of trees.

Tom’s father rules their home with an iron glove and a cricket bat; he expects Tom to be a barber when he grows up.

No one knows about Tom’s mother. Even Tom doesn’t know her secret; but Tom has secrets of his own, and he wishes he had someone to share them with. Tom believes that discipline is the same as love. It’s the only sort of love Tom knows, and he doesn’t care about respectability.

Tom just wants his father to love him. He just wants to be like the other children.

+++

When Harry is eight, his life is full of rules and regulations. He’s responsible for the rubbish bins and the sorting out Dudley’s washing.

He’s been living under the stairs for three months now.

His uncle is a tyrant, and he rules over all of Harry’s England. Harry’s parents are dead, and he has no one to love him. He has no friends, but the idea of sympathy is as foriegn as new clothes.

Harry just wants someone – anyone. At night, when he goes to sleep, he wishes on gratings and spider webs.

+++

When Tom is ten the truth comes out.

His mother screams and his father shouts. There are arguments about schooling and suppressing the truth. His father calls his mum a whore and the handle of his father’s cricket bat cracks.

For the first time that Tom can remember his mother refuses to capitulate to his father. She says she won’t be denied anymore.

Seven months after his birthday, Tom goes to Hogwarts.

+++

When Harry is twelve he meets Tom for the first time.

It's all very simple because Tom is bad and Harry is good. Except that Tom wants Harry, and more than anything Harry needs to be wanted. Harry wants to be wanted.

Harry turns Tom down, but he remembers him. At night Harry sees Tom's face. Voldemort is a enigma with red eyes, but Tom's eyes are brown, and his hair is black -- like Harry's.

Harry is too old to love blindly and too young to not believe at all.

Harry wants to be loved.

+++

When Tom is fourteen, he retaliates against his father for the first time. The dictator is overthrown and a new regime is on the rise. There is blood and dust and there are splinters caught in the fibres of Tom's robe.

Fourteen is also the year that Tom loses his virginity. Her name is Emma Mills and Tom thinks he’s in love. Five months later he meets her younger brother, Miles, and changes his mind.

It doesn’t work out, but Tom finds out there is another sort of magic. Another sort of power that can only be wielded through sex.

Not all magic is learned in books.

+++

When Harry is sixteen, Tom comes back. Tom is in charge this time, and he promises Harry the world. He says he loves Harry.

Harry believes him. He has no reason not to.

Harry's been whoring himself out to anyone who says they love him for the last five years. There's no reason for things to be different with Tom. After all, there are all kinds of magic, and it’s only fitting that Harry should end up with Tom -- they’re too much alike for things to have turned out any differently.

randomly, la la laaaaaaa.........

Alright, so you know you deserve real fb for this one. I am kinda drunk though, so I will tell you here what I love the best and suck you off in a mail later.

The //s are perfect. We both knew that. They are there, and you twist them up and make them shine.

"His uncle is a tyrant, and he rules over all of Harry’s England."

I know you know how good that line is. I will just tell you I know it too.

"It's all very simple because Tom is bad and Harry is good.

Harry wants to be loved."

All of this. You know Harry so well. Why do you hide from him? He needs you. He calls to you, and you deny him. He will get you.

"Not all magic is learned in books."

Oh dear. You are the Mistress of the Invented Detail. And you produce here. Oh yes you do. And you give me sentences that are misleadingly simple. Like you do. Like you always do.

Harry needs to learn that sex does not equal love, and this is the case for far too many people I know.

you were drunk so it's all okay.

why did no one mention the friggin orphanage? now i'm pissed.

All of this. You know Harry so well. Why do you hide from him? He needs you. He calls to you, and you deny him. He will get you.

Damn straight I deny him, he has his own series. ::bats off errant plot bunny::

"His uncle is a tyrant, and he rules over all of Harry’s England."

I know you know how good that line is. I will just tell you I know it too.

you know i don't toot my own horn, but i like that line too.

Yes. Right on. All of it.

This is just Harry, with the needy and the fucked up and you just have it so perfectly. It's fantastic. The parallels are so well done. And the ending? Kills me. A lot. Because it's so right. Love this.

well that's that sorted.
