In light of the coming blasphemy that will be ABC's version of Life on Mars, I decided to finally get to the original before all was irreparably tainted.

So, I have just finished the original Life on Mars pilot and, um, Sam/Gene, y/y? Sam/Annie? y/y?

With Annie that makes like, two female leads I've grown to adore this year (including Casey on Greek). The world she is ending. Well, between this and Shia's shit balls... I'd always meant to, I just never got around to it. Now that I'm watching it, I'm not sure if I like, but I know it's fucking engaging as hell. Does that make sense? Philip Glenister, well, I like Jon Simm, but Gene is totally the top dog here. He makes that scary bastard thing hot.

It's the characters that make it, even when the plotlines are off. Philip Glenister does indeed do an amazing job and Gene is utterly perfect as a character. I had blokes like him around me growing up - some I was even related to - and they are thankfully a breed you rarely see these days!

Keep at it and try not to let the some of the lesser episodes stop you from making it to them end of series 2. The final episode makes the entire thing utterly worth sticking with.

I actually know how it ends. Yes, I know, shocking. But seeing the last two episodes is what made me look it up on wiki and then I was like, okay, I have to know how we got here, thusly now I am watching.
