It's late and my feet hurt and I haz two questions for my omnipotent flist:

a) Where the hell is the community for Mad Men fic? This is just ridiculous. I need to read the fandom take about [all that spoilery stuff for the season finale].

2) On the subject of Brad/Nate, since I am always on that subject, if you could make me write any sort of porn featuring them, what would you want to see? I'm looking for ideas. Prompts, graphics, or even a "Nate should write all of his class notes on Brad's back, starting with the nape of his neck, and then he has to lick them off when he's done type of thing, and this is naturally complicated by the fact that Brad's totally rutting against the mattress." Or something. I'm not so much at a loss for 'ideas' as much as I can't seem to pick just one. It's like the M25 at 8:30 on Monday morning in my head when it comes to Brad & Nate.

Also, I will ponder this. Someone below mentioned that Nate could come visit Brad when he's training in London and I was all, Brad's in London? Why did nobody tell me this before? Do you know how much I could do with that?

Err...whoops? I thought you knew? It's in the Epilogue to the GK book:

"Upon his return, Colbert received one of the highest honors in the Marine Corps, a combat meritorious promotion to staff sergeant. He was nominated to enter a two-year exchange program with the British Royal Marines, with whom he is now serving." (351)

Oh, look, I'm typing out quotes from the GK book for you. IT'S JUST LIKE THE OLD DAYS. Second Platoon returned to Pendleton in June 2003. (350). At the end of the Epilogue he notes the timeline when he says, "As this book goes to press, the men in Bravo Second Platoon, along with the rest of First Recon, are in Fallujah, Iraq." (354) That would put the info current as of June 2004. In his updated Afterword he says that Colbert just returned from combat deployment in late 2007 (357). So it would seem like Colbert went to England sometime in late 2003, stayed two years, came home in late 2005 and was redeployed.

Fick left the Marines in August 2003. Wright's comments in the book imply he started his dual degree program at Harvard in 2004 (I assume he started on the normal MBA schedule, so that would put it at August 2004). I can check Fick's book if you'd like. I don't recall if it's more specific about dates.

Also, I just want to note, the kind of disastrous ambush in Fallujah happened on April 7, 2004, when Colbert would have been in England. That was when Fick's replacement, Captain Morel, was killed. Fick, in his book, does tell us that he was kind of having a hard time at this point.

Ah, I've not actually read GK yet. There's a lot happening, I've not been actually able to read any books, since, oh, August. Oh, but my version of GK doesn't even have an epilogue. I forgot about that. I do have lots of porn ideas though. Of course the ideas were never the problem, the being able to pick *one* that's been the problem. Well, that and actually writing the story. Hell, sparky77 saw about 10 pages of outline for HS AU, which was pretty much all narrative.

I like this UK idea though. I wrote a whole outline in somebody's comment to this post.

Gotcha. Let me know if you need any info from the 2004 Epilogue/2008 Afterword. Wright gives updates on what the guys did, who was still in, etc.

I know! I love it! Especially this:

Know why? 'Cause the Brits would SO make Colbert pick a team. He's there for two years! And just watch him get all into it - in spite of the fact that he doesn't even care about US sports, but there it's a culture thing - and Nate's all 'when did you transform from a tech geek into a meathead jock?!'

Also the obnoxiously loud sex. Heh. Those rude yanks.

You can't live in the UK for longer than, like, a month and not support a footie team. I think its grounds for deportation. Brad is actually built just like a football player, long and lean, their muscles are just, and they have this incredible stamina, like... ANYWAY. I vastly prefer real football to the American version if you can't tell.

As do I. And I find it charming that Alexander still supports his (bad) hometown football team instead of trading up.
