All hail 2009!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Um, yeah, that's about it. No, oh, wait, I haz annoucements.

1. I'm sure this is like a shock to nobody, but for [livejournal.com profile] yuletide I wrote Generation Kill: A Mexican and a Jew Walk into a KKK Rally and I also wrote Psych: Gusnapped!. I had a fantastic time writing both of these and the recepients didn't seem to hate them, so you know, I'm pretty pleased. [/major understatement]

2. ATTENSHUN PEOPLE WOT ARE IN THE UK: Generation Kill is premiering on FX on 25th January if you happen to be in posession of Sky/satellite/cable/something that fell off the back of a lorry or have some means to procure it in the next, oh, three weeks or so. WATCH IT. Really.

3. Am very very excited about a Merlin project I am working on right now that I hope will go live on Wednesday. We shall see.

4. For anybody who was possibly lying in the gutter pissed towards the end of last year, I posted a Merlin fanmix, a Generation Kill fanmix and a Ray/Walt story (The Marine Corps Makes You Gay and Other Theories). Knock yourselves out.

ETA: Okay, seriously, what's with you guys trying to get me to write Merlin RPS?! The one time I'm not all RPS!YAY! All I keep hearing is Brad + Colin 4eva! The accent! Northern Ireland FTW! Stupid boys! Vegetarians! French castles! Watch youtube diaries!

VERY INTERESTED. i've heard nothing but good things and honestly, it looks like it might be appealing :>

These are my babies (http://hackthis.livejournal.com/492829.html#cutid1). I will talk about them anytime anywhere, with anyone at length. I would also say to buy the books mentioned at the end. Some people read them first, some people read them during. I read them after and it worked out brilliantly for me, because of the epilogue and afterwords. I would read Nate's book before Evan's though. And did I mention that it was my favorite programme of 2008, because it was. I have the DVDs now. I pet them. It happens. I haven't loved anything like this, since. Oh, since like Band of Brothers. I don't love serialised TV this way at all.

You sweet talker, you.

[identity profile] tuff-ghost.livejournal.com 2009-01-05 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
You're so right. It's too much to ask you to write RPS.

You should write a really long ambitious Merlin fanfic instead!

Funny that you mention that. Check back here on Wednesday.

re: Generation Kill: I will talk about them anytime anywhere, with anyone at length.

You too? I just finished Evan's book, and man, so much laughing and flailing and amazement at the perfect casting. I'm giving it a week before starting on Nate's book, watching the beginning of Zoolander in the meantime to giggle over younger-Alexander.

I read Nate's book first (after the series) and it just... it was like a fucking revelation. Like a fucking crptograph. Or key. Whatever, it made everything make even more sense. It's very dense though, just saying.

RU-DAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!

Rudy is awesome.

d00d. I don't know how you do it but hell, you're gonna make me into Generation Kill somehow, and *I don't even like military shows*.

So yeah, your Gusnapped! story is so adorable it made my brain bleed a little (and as always your voices and tone are *spot-on* which makes me insanely happy b/c that randomness is why I love that damn show so much). And your generation kill story is WTF-awesome. I've never seen the show - do the characters banter at all like that? B/c that's awesome.

If you only watch/read/listen to one thing that I've recommended ever, make it Generation Kill. Seriously. I'm really glad you liked the Psych story too (thank you). With regards to the GK story I will point you to these two works by [livejournal.com profile] sparky77 (Story A (http://yuletidetreasure.org/archive/67/onhow.html))and [livejournal.com profile] alethialia (Story B (http://yuletidetreasure.org/archive/73/thetemptation.html), both written for [livejournal.com profile] yuletide and just tell you that their is writing stellar and note-perfectly in character. And still not as good as the series. The series is fucking phenomenal

My sister bought me Generation Kill for Christmas. I've been watching it and flailing for the past few days. I want to put Ray in my pocket and carry him home, where we can have obscene conversations. I want Brad to not put his shirt on ever, and if Rudy wanted to continue to not wear pants, that would also be acceptable.

Oh, and the story and the atmosphere and the interpersonal dynamics are pretty cool too.
