THE AGE OF AWESOME IS UPON US, BITCHES!

There are no words that can adaquately express how I feel about today as a woman, as a black person, as an American. This is only a little bit of why I voted for Barack Obama, but it's indicative of so much more. I will always remember where I am today. How I feel. How I ran around last night like I was on speed. I will tell my children about this day. Hell, I may tell your children about this day.

Eight years of horror is over. All hail the Motherfucking Age of Awesome.

I'm so excited I'm about to stroke out.

I keep bursting into happy tears for almost any reason, but especially when they show the crowd waving all the flags. OMFG.

YES.

I was looking at pics this morning and thinking 'THAT MAN IS GOING TO BE THE PRESIDENT IN AN HOUR OR TWO?!' and then thinking 'OMG, YAY'. I am freaking out.

Preach, sister.

You know that feeling of relief you get, where your muscles feel weak and all you want to do is just sit somewhere, because you're not sure your legs will hold your weight?

That's what I've had ALL DAY.

As I just posted in my LJ--I hope I never ever get tired of hearing these words: President Barack Obama.

America, for once I can say this honestly: WE ARE MADE OF SO MUCH EPIC WIN RIGHT NOW.

I just watched the inauguration. It's the single most moving historical event I have ever witnessed - granted, my life to date has been short and I am as yet young, but this day is one I will remember for the rest of my life.

Obama has an amazing ability to bring out the very best in people - as I've just said over at my journal. Watching the inauguration, I saw every American face in the crowds tilted upwards, glowing with hope, beaming with pride. I haven't seen America look so beautiful in a long time. It brought tears to my eyes.

Good riddance to Bush and his War of Terror. (War of Terror, mind, not on it.) He embodied the very callousness and disregard for human life that he claimed belonged to his foes. He hurt America more than we can possibly even understand, at this moment; I fully expect more things to come to light.

Buh-bye, Bush! Here, have a pretzel.

I am so glad and happy for you, for all of you. And yes for me too, Canadian and all.

You know how you read where someone says "the sun seemed to shine a bit brighter" when something good happens? Well, I SWEAR, the sun really WAS brighter today! I never need my shades when I take my son to school in the morning, but at 8am today the sun was already so freakin' bright, it really did feel like a new world, like the whole planet was cleaner and more pure. So I dug out my sunglasses and drove to school crying, and my son was very confused because it was the first time I've had to explain tears of joy :)
