Fannish news alerts!

So, who else watched The Unusuals besides [livejournal.com profile] serialkarma and myself? And which one of you is actually writing for it, because no way would a show without a fandom person writing for it have a Kowalski, a Walsh and a Snape in one episode. It also has McManus and Augustus from Oz. I'm just saying. Check it out.

Also, um, is it just me or is Walsh hot in that scruffy Ryan Atwoodish, but like, more manly way? I would hit THAT. Yes. I wouldn't let him cook though.

Speaking of Mr. OC, everybody's going to watch Southland tonight, right? Not only is Ryan Atwood on there, but so is Bull from Band of Brothers and everybody loves Bull. ilu Bull!

Oh, and the other network show that I'm watching, but not really is Castle, because it has Poke from GK. I don't pay much attention except to see him in a suit and tie, with hair. The hair, people! I wants to touch it!

Yes, I am shallow in this manner.

Oh, and in case anybody didn't hear, NBC has moved Kings to Saturday. At 10pm. Yeah, I know.

ETA: Three other people on my flist who love Doves, the new LP Kingdom of Rust is THE BOMB! Finally, an album worth waiting four years for. (If you know not who the Doves are, but have faith in my music taste, at least give the first single a swing. Most people aren't consistently good throughout their careers, Doves are. Yay for JimiJeznAndy!)

I forgot about The Unusuals, but was totally looking forward to it. Stupid not-being-used-to Wed-night tv. And now I'm going to have to catch up on Castle, because Fillion means I can dl at some later date, but Poke just ups the ante to *now*

Also, hello Mr Atwood. Actually, you may or may not be outshined by the awesomeness that is Bull Randleman, so watch out.

(I just really need shows where it's a revolving cast from Oz, The Wire, Band of Bros and Generation Kill. Or just one show with all of that. I can dream.)

[identity profile] serialkarma.livejournal.com 2009-04-09 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm watching Castle like that, too, because it doesn't take much brainpower and Nathan Fillion entertains me. And Poke and his partner whatsisface are amusing in a Rosencrantz and Guildenstern way.

and everybody loves Bull. ilu Bull!

People might have extra reason to love him in this show. [/vagues it up for you] Also, Regina King is the shit. [/227 nostalgia]

I am pretty ambivalent about Nathan Fillion, but Poke is worth it just for the suit and hair thing. POKE! I don't think anybody could outshine the awesome of Bull and if he's smoking a cigar, there could be swooning.

We have this, dear, they're called DVDs ;-)

POKE! Ilu Poke. And he and his boyfriend are hysterical. That scene in the dumpster when they were talking about the sofa? I just laughed.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2009-04-09 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude, 227! 227! *dances in chair*

Also, now I am double excited for Bull.

I know! And how the one guy was like "No, that's disgusting!" I, uh, take it he never lived in the dorms in college. Or in an apartment with other students. Particularly other GUYS.

(Although, seriously, anyone in New York City who picks up a rug or a piece of furniture off the streets these days is an IDIOT. You may as well put a neon sign on your door that says "BEDBUGS WELCOME")

227! *dies*

[identity profile] svilleficrecs.livejournal.com 2009-04-09 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Southland ROCKED. HARD, imho. ILU BULL! ILU RYAN! And the pilot was good other than that too. :D

[identity profile] plumtastic.livejournal.com 2009-04-09 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I was thinking less DVD, and more crossover of doom, but either way is good.

::tries to imgine Omar Little, Brad Colbert, Poke Espera, Stringer Bell, Ryan O'Reilly, Chris Keller, Bull Randleman and Joe Toye in the same place::

I think I just broke something.

I loved 227 madly.

You all are getting my expectations up. *is wary*

I've heard you all are having some sort of epidemic for real.

Well, it's not the second coming, or anything, but I thought the writing was darn solid, the cast interesting and varied (I was interested-to-intrigued about just about every apparent regular) and Ryan Atwood the cop was hot. Who knows if they'll fulfill the promise of the pilot, natch, but it's quite the promising pilot, I thought, particularly in the been-there-done-that world of police based shows.

Or *they* just broke everything in the room. One or the other.

Remember how Jackee and the Sugarbakers from Designing Women bought every peplum suit in existence? And how there used to be *new* TV shows on Saturday nights? It was Golden Girls into 227, IIRC.

So, I had no idea who Doves were beforehand, but I ended up buying The Last Broadcast used today, on a whim (it was in the dollar section: TRAGIC OR AWESOME? OR BOTH?), 'cos they got me with the cover art and album name. And then I ended up swinging by here and listening to the single and MAN, I JUST . . . REALLY, I GOT THAT MUCH AWESOME FOR $!?!?
