I think you should write Jealous!Cooper when he sees Ben in a compromising position/situation.

I've been meaning to write Southland fic, but what I really want is for Cooper to end up meeting Ben's sister Olivia, and for her to be a flake but also be really sweet and charming and friendly, and for her to idly realize that her big brother has a total thing for his partner.

COOPER <3_<3

I love him. I love his very short hair and piercing eyes and powerful body. I love his seemingly contradictory fuck-all/god's work attitude. I love his swagger. I love his euphemisms. I love the little hints of weaknesses and things that seem incongruent, like the flowers you put outside his house ^_^ I want more incongruities. I want Twin Peaks allusions XD. I want Cooper and Ben to stalk around each other trying to figure out what roles they're going to play and wind up realizing they can't play anything with each other. I love how ambiguous and amorphous everything is right now and I wish I had time to write but I'll just depend on others for a while and keep collecting ideas. Oh Cooper.

A few random bunnies I've been poking at that you may or may not want to toy with -

- Ben picks up on some sort of *vibe* between John and an ex-partner when all three of them are at some cop-bar thing. Ben from across the room, watching John and the man standing next to each other laughing, studying the body language, something prickling at the back of his head that he can't quite figure out. At first he's jealous platonically, in a "he's my partner now" way, or at least that's what he tells himself. Later on, maybe, he realizes his jealousy isn't 100% platonic.

- they're called to some BDSM scene gone very, very bad. Some comment of John's casually indicates *more than casual* knowledge. Then, Ben makes a casual comment response that indicates that he's got enough more than casual knowledge to know what John's comment indicates. And they're focussed on being all business, and showing the people at the scene the same kind of (unusual for TV cops) respect that they did at the transvestite shopkeeper scene. Of course, this gets stuck in Ben's head after, particularly when John does *zero* chit chat/needling about the scene afterward. And Ben maybe gets fascinated/obsessed/thinking more than he wants about exactly what John's into (would he be dominant like he is on the job, or would he be one of those guys who wants the reverse when he's playing). Not sure where it would go from there... but there are many possibilities.

-- Some sort of evening BBQ at lady cop's (whose name I forget) place, where her son has some jailbait teen girl friends there, some of whom are all giggly and gaga over Ben, flirting w/ him, and John finds himself amused as *hell* over the way Ben is so smooth at being friendly but not encouraging w/ the girls. (probably due to practice from fending off his sister's jailbait friends flirting). He also finds himself amused by one girl who manages to get Ben a little flustered. Maybe a little later he finds Ben semi-hiding around the side of the house. Both of them are buzzed, John is buzzed plus painkillers, and loose lipped, and in the course of teasing Ben about being attractive to 15 year old girls, he lets slip a comment or two that he realizes (after it's out of his mouth) may be more revealing than intended. And Ben is in that quiet-thinky-drunk mode and doesn't respond to the subtext of what's said. And John has to decide whether or not to cover, or change the subject, or push ahead and just come with it. But before he can, Ben says something that's even more ambiguous about his own interests, then wobbles back to the main party.

John stops drinking at that point, and a few hours later, Ben hasn't, and possibly John ends up driving him home, putting him to bed, and possibly finding out that Ben's known for a while about John's orientation.

YAY IT'S SOUTHLAND DAY!!! I have been pining for this show for daysss. No one on my flist/in real life watches this show so I have been kind of squeeing with myself, having inner monologues of how awesome and hot Cooper is, and how adorable Ben is, and all the crackling potential between them. YAY! Tonight's episode better have loadssss of them to make up for last week.

Hi! I don't comment ever, but I enjoy your Southland fic and squee so much I felt I had to de-lurk momentarily on this joyous day (Cooperday as Thursday is now known to me) with these two icons. Not great I know but everyone could do with more Southland icons!

Just watched all five episodes, wanted to see the first one only and things went downhill from there, so yeah it's been a good morning. So I wanted to say thank you for pimping it, as I wouldn't have watched it otherwise, and I really enjoyed it! Somehow manages to be both hilarious and horrifying and just plain awesome. I do wish there was more of Cooper and Ben, but I guess that's what fic is for!
