Are we there yet? Why the fuck not?

1. NCIS people, new rule. If it's written by [livejournal.com profile] spoonyriffic? READ IT. What she's doing is what I *thought* Gibbs/DiNozzo was supposed to be, snarky and fun and hot. What the hell is up with all the angst and woe and leather chains and fic where Tony's balls are mysteriously missing? Are y'all watching the same show I am?

2. The Hurt Locker. War movie with Jeremy Renner (Walsh from the Unusuals, bitches!) and Guy Pearce! Or as one commenter put it It's basically "Generation Kill", just with different characters and not enough time to develop all the characters. I needs to be seeing this I think.

3. Is anybody else having one of those days too? You know the kind where you wouldn't piss on somebody even if they were on fire? EXACTLY.

4. I like Green Day. I dunno if I've ever mentioned this to you lot, but I do. I have them on my iPod under 'Baby Clash' - yes I have a genre called Baby Clash, because everybody wants to be The Clash, but nobody really is. I was thinking about my Green Day like the other day because Stephen had them on The Report and they were doing 'Know Your Enemy' and it wasn't half bad. I wouldn't pay to see them, but I do not object. And believe me I object to a lot.

Wait, I have to finish this with something happy. Oooh, better yet, [livejournal.com profile] sparky77 had this thing where she asked people to mention a fandom and she'd give three unpopular opinions about it. I'll take the one and tweak it a little. Give me a character or a fandom you've seen me write and I'll give you at least three facts about him/her/it.

I... would never see that movie with my parents, but that's b/c they'd never go for that type of film. It's just... Jesus, it's funny. And you know how I am... I hate that whole genre, but it was, fuck, I may have to see that again.

I have seen Deep Blue Sea. But it has Sam Jackson too.

What does Ray have to say about this. Talk.

[identity profile] amberlynne.livejournal.com 2009-06-23 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
LL made that better by NOT dying, see?

And add me to the people that find it shocking that you like NCIS. I have a new love/hate relationship with it myself, though, so I totally understand.

1. Ari loves his children more than anything in this entire world, and he has never ever ever considered selling them just to get a good return at the box office. Except that one time.

2. Ari loves Mrs. Ari until the end of everything, but sometimes he wonders if he could've made it with Bob.

3. Ari would give his left nut if it meant he could fix Shia.

Bonus: To the end of his days, he will not forgive Brad for what he put George through.

Oh god to see a GK Fight Club! *sighs*

*perks up*

Hell to the motherfuckin' yeah, babe.

I thought that performance of "Know Your Enemy" was great, particularly because of the way they incorporated Stephen's patriotic hymn in there.

Inorite!

1. Cooper wishes he could've made it work with Laura. He does love her, and he always will. He would've stayed if she hadn't kicked him out.

2. Every day he shows up at work and Sherman's still there confuses him a little more. Sherman could do anything, and yet he does this. If John could do anything... he'd still do this too.

3. The first guy who sucked his dick was in the Corps. The military really is as homoerotic as they say.

You know this thought made me catch my breath.

I have been listening to the new(est) Green Day for two days straight. I love them mightily.

Also, I'm on a wallpaper making kick. Do you want something?

HAHAHAHA

Needless to say I shall be watching even though I am a little miffed that they aren't planning to use Lousie Lombard.

I HAVE NO SHAME AT ALL, Z!

What's your resolution? And give me, like, your top 3 choices.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2009-06-23 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I have no idea what my resolution is.

1. Ryan
2. Generation Kill
3. Jon/Stephen/Rahm/Barack - THE AXIS OF AWESOME!!

You know, to get a little bit off topic, I do always think about what Ray would be like if Brad and Nate were in some sort of relationship. Like Ray would go through phases. At first he'd think it was absolutely hilarious and take every opportunity to mock Brad about it, and then he'd be all "holy shit! Brad loves him!" and just be kind of stunned and quiet which would worry Brad, and then Ray would get over that and start assessing Nate and wondering if Nate was going to hurt Brad because Ray really didn't want to deal with an upset Brad. He likes Brad the way he is. He worked hard to put him together like that and he's not interested in putting back together the pieces because he hates Puzzles, especially Brad shaped ones (also puzzles encourage conformist behaviour. He got in trouble once in 1st grade for just glueing the pieces of a puzzle together because he didn't do it properly and the picture looked and wrong which he disagreed with. The picture wasn't wrong. It just wasn't what they expected). And, wow, I got distracted. Okay, so first Ray would be amused, and then he would be stunned, and then he would be all protective and trying to figure out the best way to have a conversation with his commanding officer without getting in trouble about how he thought he was great and all, but if he hurt Brad, they would never find the body.

Also, in a physical fight between Brad and Nate, Ray is the only person who would bet on Nate because he would know that there is no way Brad would willing hurt Nate.

DUDE. You are so Ray.

[identity profile] sparky77.livejournal.com 2009-06-23 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw Ari! I love you and your big ass twisted heart!

[identity profile] sparky77.livejournal.com 2009-06-23 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I am very zen about this fact. And it really does explain my occasional Nate hostility. Huh.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2009-06-23 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
And it really does explain my occasional Nate hostility.

This is sadness, but I love you anyway.

...dude. And now you have intrigued me as to the nature of Nate and Ray's dynamic, seeing how Nate has stolen Ray's favorite toy and all.

Are we there yet?

Saying hi and commenting on your comments:

I have never watched NCIS, but based on your writing and your opinion, I will definitely take a look.

The Hurt Locker - really liked the trailer (along with The Moon - because I love Sam Rockwell and it was very eerie in a good way).

Green Day - have heard Know Your Enemy a whole bunch, verging on overload and laughed at your Baby Clash comment. Right now I'm stuck on Kings of Leon (not the overplayed Sex on Fire, but all these other songs Caleb has written and sang in this howling heartbreaking way), there is an interesting story there waiting to be told and played out between their childhood traveling with their tent preaching dad and the ache in Caleb's wine soaked voice in just about every song but really chills you in "Cold Desert" (ok I could name a dozen other songs totally better that he does but the howl says alot). I am such a sucker for the ACHE.

Fandoms I've followed, been slightly addicted to: QAF - Brian & Justin (my actual first venture in to reading fan fiction), OZ - Beecher & Keller (completely spellbound in fear and awe from the very first season till the bitter end), Veronica Mars - Logan (absolutely went from hating him to outright loving him, FNL - Tim Riggins (I see a pattern here, the guy with the ACHE always sucks me in), SPN - Dean (enough said), Dexter - haven't really found the fandom for this, but absolutely love the show and as scary as he was Rudy in hidh sight crushed me. Finally, Southland - Cooper & Sherman, because of the show and because of you.

I still love Nate. I just worry about Brad's mental health.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2009-06-23 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Why. Talk me through this. I seem to be at a GK crossroads.

[identity profile] sparky77.livejournal.com 2009-06-23 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Ray could probably write a manual called the "care and feeding of Brad" It would be a very detailed and graphic comic book and solemnly present it to Nate, who would laugh. and then Ray would glare at him and be all, "if you fuck this up, I will kill you," and Nate wouldn't know whether he was suppoed to laugh or be very, very afraid.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2009-06-23 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I would go with both. S77, I feel like you're hinting at something here, does somebody have some latent unresolved issues. Would Ray do this to anybody or Nate in particular and if so, why? Why does he think Nate's going to fuck this up? I see we are coalescing conversations. So come over here and run this conversation with me. You know I'll make you do it eventually.
