Are we there yet? Why the fuck not?

1. NCIS people, new rule. If it's written by [livejournal.com profile] spoonyriffic? READ IT. What she's doing is what I *thought* Gibbs/DiNozzo was supposed to be, snarky and fun and hot. What the hell is up with all the angst and woe and leather chains and fic where Tony's balls are mysteriously missing? Are y'all watching the same show I am?

2. The Hurt Locker. War movie with Jeremy Renner (Walsh from the Unusuals, bitches!) and Guy Pearce! Or as one commenter put it It's basically "Generation Kill", just with different characters and not enough time to develop all the characters. I needs to be seeing this I think.

3. Is anybody else having one of those days too? You know the kind where you wouldn't piss on somebody even if they were on fire? EXACTLY.

4. I like Green Day. I dunno if I've ever mentioned this to you lot, but I do. I have them on my iPod under 'Baby Clash' - yes I have a genre called Baby Clash, because everybody wants to be The Clash, but nobody really is. I was thinking about my Green Day like the other day because Stephen had them on The Report and they were doing 'Know Your Enemy' and it wasn't half bad. I wouldn't pay to see them, but I do not object. And believe me I object to a lot.

Wait, I have to finish this with something happy. Oooh, better yet, [livejournal.com profile] sparky77 had this thing where she asked people to mention a fandom and she'd give three unpopular opinions about it. I'll take the one and tweak it a little. Give me a character or a fandom you've seen me write and I'll give you at least three facts about him/her/it.

YES. Certain people in particular. See my latest post for why!

Huh. Also directed by a woman. Without a political soapbox. And they're even in Bravo Company. Intriguing.

Also, I find it oddly hilarious to see you posting things about NCIS. That could just be me, though.

I think we should just delete today. Fortunately it is almost over for me, for which I am very grateful.

Give me three facts about Nate. Or can I ask for three facts about someone you haven't written? In which case, three facts about Abby Sciuto.

Hope the day improves for you.

What is up with the hilarity about me discovering NCIS? Esplain.

Damn son.

Nope, not just you. I find it hilarious as well but I am also enormously pleased about it as NCIS is one of my happy places.

Three facts about Nate.

1. If one more person says Nate has a cocksucker mouth, he's going to give that person a black eye. Even if it's Brad.

2. Nate doesn't pine. He just tends to think about what he wants a lot.

3. Nate could probably kick Brad's ass with enough motivation. And another 20 pounds.

Bonus: Nate could get a long just fine without Brad Colbert, he's just not sure he wants to.

If I didn't laugh I'd cry.

ARI!!!

Also I am very, very intrigued by Jeremy Renner in a war movie.

#4 - I thought that performance of "Know Your Enemy" was great, particularly because of the way they incorporated Stephen's patriotic hymn in there.

Character meme: Cooper!

(Also, how does one find the first few eps of "Southland"? I'm TRYING to watch, but I want to start at the beginning.)

Colbert or Rahm icon? Dilemmas!

Why is it so funny! Becsause I'm six years late? i wanna know!

*hands kleenex*

You know, if you want a laugh The Hangover is fucking hysterical. I normally hate movies like that, but with that I laughed so hard at one point there were tears.

The thing is that Nate isn't sure he loves Brad, and a lot of times, he doesn't quite like him. He always respects him though and he trusts him implicitly. It's very confusing for him.

[identity profile] alethialia.livejournal.com 2009-06-23 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a CBS procedural! It's a CBS procedural that they're spinning off! That kind of procedural is pretty much the last thing I'd expect you to watch...though I get why you do. Kind of. Some days.

Then there's the fact that I remember what a douche Michael Weatherly was during the filming of Dark Angel. This is one of those me things.

But! After watching Mark Harmon play Gibbs it's just bizarre to watch him play Special Agent Simon Donovan in TWW. (My sekrit service research, let me show you it. And yes, that's right! I figured out a way to do sekrit service research and watch Mark Harmon AT THE SAME TIME! ::is victorious::)

On another topic entirely, I pulled out "One Bullet Away" today because I got curious if Nate ID'ed the three guys in the platoon when he first got there (he didn't, as usual). And then it occurred to me that the title can also apply to the VP - you're one bullet away from the Presidency.

So this entire comment is yet more proof that I have no points, just musings.

To quote Fight Club "Skinny guys fight til they're burger" I think you'd be surprised at how well Nate could hold his own. Oh god to see a GK Fight Club! *sighs*

You know, the commercials for that did nothing for me whatsoever, but every single person I know who's seen it has said the exact same thing you did. I'm thinking maybe I should suck it up and check it out. Maybe this weekend. I know the stepmom wants to go see it.

Er, is it the kind of thing you'd be embarrassed to see with your parents?

[identity profile] alethialia.livejournal.com 2009-06-23 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Really? He won't blush prettily? Aww.

2. ::snorts::

3. Aww, honey. Keep thinking that.

Ray has words about this. And laughter. And is impressed by Nate's committment to self-delusion.

Hi, Jethro! Hi!

It's funny to me because I think of NCIS as being one of those shows that people scoff. Also, so few good writers seem to have any desire to either watch, read or write it. I am actually heartened that you have taken to it so much especially as I distinctly remember you telling me not that long ago [when I was telling you that I wanted a NCIS/GK crossover] that you have no interest in it!

Maybe it's because it does seem to be the show that your mother watches because she has fantasies about nailing Gibbs. Oh, except it's Dinozzo in the case of my own mother. ;)

Ah. This is very true. And I am notoriously snobby about my TV. I know this. I get told this as regular intervals. I think it was just a matter of the right (wrong depending) thing at the right time. I had a guest. They watched it... I... it was new to me. And there were a lot of drugs involved. As for Michael Weatherly, he's an asshole on the show, I don't like him, and yet... I can see why there's so much disbelief.

It probably also comes down to the end of the network season (not that I watch more than 2 hours), and cable hasn't really launched for me yet -- it fills a hole. Of course this is how you end up dating the wrong guy too.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2009-06-23 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
That looks TERRIBLE holy cow.

[identity profile] amberlynne.livejournal.com 2009-06-23 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
What? Nothing can be terrible if it involves LL COOL J!!!
