They've canceled Southland. Before they've even aired any of the episodes they shot for Season 2. Apparently it's too dark and gritty. In short, too smart and real for network TV. Not enough fluff, bullshit, fake tits and bad acting.

I knew this shit was coming. I could smell it when they pushed the premiere date back to October (give it more press, MY ASS), but to not even broadcast any of it. At all. I just -- YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO AT LEAST AIR A FEW EPISODES AND PRETEND ASSHOLES.

All fail NBC. Even now that Ben Silverman is gone.

Never watched the show. But as a Kings fan whose show never got a fair shot from NBC, you have my sympathies. Down with NBC!

And it's the same fucking THING, where there's a ton of build-up, and then the not giving a shot. What the hell is wrong over there at NBC? Do they do some sort of weird reverse-proportion promotion-to-delivery system involving, like, I don't even know, a ouija board and someone reading every third word in Variety and interpreting the result for how they decide what the hell they're doing? I just. WTF. I think this is the third show in a row that they promoted a ton and then yanked at random. SO PUZZLED.

What? Who the hell renews a show, shoots 6 eps, then cancels it before they even air? It's a cop show--how unpopular could it possibly be?

Too bad. I watched it on y'all recommendation and it really was high quality.

Echoing everyone else. Why the hell even renew it, let alone begin shooting the season? I mean at least give it a chance; the smart thing would have been to air a couple of episodes then say; 'see, the ratings just aren't there'. But to film and then not even air, it makes them all look like incompetent jack-asses. Which they pretty much are, but come on...

Honestly though, nothing the networks do surprises me anymore. They seem more inclined to keep crap on the air then have actual, good programming in its place.

But we got Regina King being awesomely brave and competent and wielding a SHOTGUN! That was absolutely one of my top 5 moments of last season; one never gets to see a strong PoC who also happens to be a woman do anything of the kind unless there's some element of objectification there. OH SHOW. I'LL MISS YOU.
