Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudel.

After some discussion [livejournal.com profile] sparky77 and I have decided we're vetoing this month. (Did I not tell you, Q? Executive decision, baby!)

So, while we await the changing of the tide/moon/karma and the proliferation of male!skating!slash (don't front I know y'all are gonna turn this stuff out), I thought to myself, "Self, all is not flaming poo and Sarah Palin. There must be some things that make you happy."

So, this post is to talk about happy things.

Jeff Buckley bootlegs make me happy. So do puppies. Christina Hendricks (shocking). Really anthemic work out music (feel free to share if you've got some!). Finding new artists. Quality public transportation. Disney movies make me happy (except for, like, Snow White which freaked me out in my formative years). Old movies with Marilyn Monroe or Paul Newman. Musicals. Double whammy of The Daily Show and Colbert Report. My guitar. Bacon. Good stories fanfic or pro. Books.

I could go on all day. And I possibly will, but now it's your turn, we all know what pisses us off, but what makes you happy? Is it a story? A song? A photo? An old shirt? A movie?

I bet you'll feel better just talking about it!

1. People seem to think I made this up in 'Son is on Midnight Run' but I totally didn't. Hell, it has to be pointed out to me!

3. I love waffles. And yet why are they so hard for people to get right? The ones with the little squares! The big squares get dried out!

4. I LOVE PRINCE!

8. My favorite is Goldfinger. I think that's because of the two lines in the middle of the movie where Bond's all "Do you expect me to talk?" and Goldfinger is all, "No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die!"

The delivery there is just impeccable.

10. It is a fact that you and your mom can make the exact same thing with the same ingredients using the same tools and hers will taste better.

I have many hidden talents ;-)

And I can now see you and Ray at the beach, having grilled cheese and bacon he brought in a little sandwich baggie. Ray is awesome like that. That's totally how Ray would propose, too.

p.s. There's a uniformed fireman on my TV. All I seem to be noticing is how that would look on Cooper.

That's such a pretty photo!

I love Kitchen Confidential! When it was on the air (for that whole two seconds) [livejournal.com profile] rageprufrock [livejournal.com profile] nifra_idril and I used to write it. Yet another example of being shafted by FOX! Also, I'm rather fond of the String Quartet Tribute to Radiohead, at least to Karma Police, but I LOVE Karma Police.

Aw, thank you!

Re: Lovely timing, this.

Old movies with Marilyn Monroe or Paul Newman

Like The Sting! I love that movie. Paul Newman AND Robert Redford in the same movie, plus period clothing (designed by Edith Head, no less), plus CON MEN? *swoons* And now I want to go re-read The Big Con...

Also, coffee! And books about Victorian London with entire chapters devoted to how the city likely smelled. Being able to go out for drinks with my best friend from kindergarten, and for coffee with my best friend from high school. Discovering a cache of multiple epic-length Captain America/Iron Man fics of slashy, plotty goodness (something I never knew I apparently always wanted). Getting rid of old junk. Vintage alarm clocks that actually wake me up in the morning. Texas sunshine. :)

My job. Siting on my porch on a sunny, breezy day with the perfect cup of coffee. Or a beer. Beer! Homemade cookies. Generation Kill. Music. Music that reaches inside and changes things. Books. Fresh-baked bread with cheese -- any kind of cheese. People's stories. SOUTHLAND.

Hee! Not so sure on those...

YOU make me happy! ::hearts::

1. Isn't he saying 'boot?' As in, newbie?

Diana returning to White Collar

Oh, thank you for this! I was afraid they really were just gonna ignore her existence.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2010-02-18 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think so. I think he says the same thing to Chickie. I could be wrong though, it wouldn't be the first time.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2010-02-18 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Likewise!

[identity profile] alethialia.livejournal.com 2010-02-18 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Now I"m all curious; someone should ask him on twitter.

*gazes expectantly*

[identity profile] bibliokat.livejournal.com 2010-02-18 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
YES YES YESSSSS! I love how he asked his friends what he should do considering he'd already won, and they said whatever you want. And then he says I want to ride down the middle. And they said NO. And then he went for his victory run to have fun and RAISED HIS FREAKING SCORE AGAIN! AHHHHHHHHHHH! SO ADORABLE! (I love his hair:)

[identity profile] alethialia.livejournal.com 2010-02-18 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh. Just saying, someone should use twitter to uncover the important stuff! So, uhh, some kind soul should volunteer. ::nods::

I KNOW SERIOUSLY. i was watching it with parents, and we were all discussing how, seriously, don't the snowboarders look like the only fun people to be around in the olympics? like, you KNOW they are going out and partying every night, because they are at the OLYMPICS and it's AWESOME. <3 <3 <3 <3

DUDE THAT INSANE JUMP ON THE VICTORY RIDE AND HOW HE DIDN'T FALL DOWN? THAT WAS AWESOME.

(i kind of want to give him a haircut but he is so fantastically adorable i will forgive it.)
